I'm also a mad Zombies Run! app fan. I started with their (then free) Couch to 5K programme, and then signed up for the main app. The learning curve on the training app is a little steeper than others, I believe. I would definitely recommend a C25K app or programme if you want to start running. The Zombies Run! one is…

Did mine two years ago, and like mandabeth, it changed my life. I'm so glad you're enjoying it - running is awesome. Just make sure you're running slowly - you need to build your stamina and get into the rhythm of it first. And don't be afraid to repeat weeks, if you have to. Good luck!

Having been obese most of my life, I dropped 70 of the 100lb I needed to a couple of years ago. And then I started running! Having never run before, I completed my C25K in June two years ago, and last weekend ran the Lincoln 10K. The time wasn't too impressive, the distance, for 2 years in, not that great, but the fact I'm…

So the take away is maintain a small deficit, banking an allowance for a little more for after longer runs (if I need them). Look at my macros if that's not working. Maintain hydration! I'm running about two 5ks a week, plus a longer run (working up to 10K), which will then segue into one 5K, one 10K and the up-to-10K run,…

Two years apart - the second one is nearly a year ago, but I love it because it's taken minutes after I completed my first ever 5K run! I'm back up a few pounds, but I'm back to it and hoping to lose the last 40. ETA - 1st picture, 238lb. 2nd picture, 168lb - drop of 70lb.

I'd weigh dry. The dry-weight calorie count for egg noodles is going to be somewhere in the 380kcal per 100g range. Cooked will be a lot lower - I hope that helps.

Seconding all this, especially jusbowers tips for progressing. It's a bit terrifying at first, but soon you realise most people don't notice much. Just stick your headphones in and you'll not notice any glances either. I would definitely take it slow, it can be hard on the joints at first. But building slowly will help…

5'5" SW: 238lb - size UK20/22 LW (2014): 159lb - size UK12/14 CW: 178lb - size UK14/16 Slowly working my way back down - my goal weight is 140lb, but I've no idea what size I'll be wearing by then.

I used a C25K app called "Zombies, Run" - this gave a structured 8 week progressive programme, all with a story line. It really got me interested. The training app is free for Android and iOS (the main app does cost money, however). Other than that, as SezxyStef says - go slow and progressively build on how long joined up…

This article does a good job of explaining some of it: www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/of-whooshes-and-squishy-fat.html There's obviously a lot more going on, but it does go some way to explaining some of the weirder variations in weight over time! To the OP: weight loss isn't linear, alas. Partly because we're using…

Curries and stirfries are my go to. Love them - you can bulk them out with masses of veg and then you don't even need noodles or rice with them.

Awesome going!

You'll be fine for the long break. Your fitness doesn't decrease that quickly. I took a two month break shortly after running my first 5K (Achilles tendon issues), and was back up to running that distance within a week or so of restarting. Enjoy your holiday!

Currently a guinea-pig shy of an elephant's penis. But that's only because I managed to pick up a spare tyre in the last year (and I know where that one sits...) - so two spare tyres to go.

I have the same issue - and it only gets worse the more you push it. The only thing I've found I can do is eat salad only sparingly, and focus on the more easily digestible salad stuff. I tend more to have 'cooked salads' now - left over veg (beans, broccoli, courgettes, mushrooms, roasted peppers etc.) with a simple…

Thank you so much! I have been correcting the sodium where I find it, but I hadn't appreciated the difference between US and Europe carbs. I'll work on fixing the entries I use.

Not a success yet, but here's my 2 year progress pic - the one on the left is from May 2013 (c238lb), before I started losing weight. The pic on the right is immediately after running my first 5K race in June 2015 (c165lb). I fell off the wagon after I started running, and gained a little back (around 15lb) but I'm getting…

Definitely. I lost almost 80lb in 2013/14 and really enjoyed closet shopping (between myself and my spouse we had clothes spanning from UK12 to UK22). I was comfortably wearing size UK14 work trousers when I finally fell off the wagon in October 2014 (with 20lb still to go, alas). Fast forward to November 2015 and I had to…

I'm a 34H and I use Shock Absorber's D+ Max bras. They're awesome. There's been another thread on this subject today- http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10323087/bras - (long buried in the mass of posts!) There's some good suggestions on there.

It is great. I run, so it's been a trial finding something to stop the girls hitting me in the face! I was a bit sceptical when I first tried it on, as it works by compression rather than by 'holding' - which means I have to jiggle my boobs around when I put it on, to ensure they don't touch in the middle (sweat and…

I Started C25K last April and ran my first 5K at the end of June. I've never been a runner and always hated cross-country at school, but my sister teased me into starting. When I started I could barely run for 2 minutes without getting out of breath and I'm now gearing up to run my first 10K (after a lot of heel niggles)!…

Ditto - on both comments! I'm a 34H, and the D+ Max Shock Absorber works great on me. I was using an old Berlei Shock Absorber with added compression top, but with the new bra, I don't need the second top and I get very little bounce. Note - they do run a little tight in the band, but that's to be expected.

Two months back on MFP, after losing nearly 80lb in 2013-14. Put back on around 15lb during the hiatus (but at the same time discovered a love of running, so it's not all bad) and have lost half that gain already. Another 30lb to go to goal now. Currently trying to balance losing the weight with increasing my running…

Ban DHMO (also known as hydroxyl acid) - evil, evil stuff. Scientists have found it in cancer cells. I still can't believe they deliberately add it to processed meats. Love the GMO / t-dna insertion chart. Will have to steal that for a friend.

Another vaper here. Managed to replace my 15-year, pack-a-day habit with a two-bottle-a-week one. I initially cut down the smoking to around 3 a day, with the vape. But had a hard time quitting last few cigs until last Christmas. I've now been tobacco-free for over a year and feel much better for it. Of course, vaping does…

It took me about 10 years to put on the 100lb I finally needed to lose. A combination of "dieting doesn't work" and "I'm fat, ugly, lazy and not worth it so what's the point"* meant that I never put the breaks on earlier. My spouse finally read me the riot act (lose the weight or put up and shut up - but in a nice way) and…

Another for steamed - dipped in mayo or a little bit of butter. If I ever have any leftover (and that's not very often), I either eat it cold with a little soy sauce or stirfry it with a couple of eggs.
-
You and me both! I started with the (free? 99c? - I don't know whether they've started charging for it) 5K training app, and then bought a subscription for the full game. It's really gripping and a great way to motivate you into running. I started back in April and completed my first 5K at the end of June (see profile…

I'll be tracking, but not passing up on anything tasty. That said, I've just looked at my diary from two years ago (last Christmas I was on hiatus and didn't track) and I want to at least make better choices on the in between days. Soooo many leftovers that year!

Abso-bally-lutely. I started at 238lb in July 2013 with a goal of 28lb in 6 months - actually lost 40lb in the same amount of time. Being so big, the only exercise I did was walking - aimed for 3 miles a day. But counting calories is what did it. There's loads of great advice around, but this one helped me massively:…
