Cracking pictures and really love your style - stay quirky!!

You mentioned a 'fantastic start' - how much did you lose? Focus on that success ...the most difficult part of this is the 'getting started' and you've obviously done that very effectively. Come on Michael O'Shea, with a name like that we need to see some Irish grit and determination coming through......! Buy a book (or…

tincanonastring gets my vote - absolutely priceless. Ever thought about writing a book? I'd buy it.......

I said 'no' to a Flake and chocolate sprinkles on top of the ice-cream I had in Ward Park, Bangor today. Little wins.

Bound to be a recipe somewhere on MFP for cooking it......

Weather is prob biggest factor- I live in Belfast and despite it being the height of summer it has hardly stopped raining for the past two months....great for the garden, not so good for walking/running etc! Plus I like to use the treadmill with loud music on via headphones - so I'd probably get run over if I tried that on…

Hi ladies - haven't been on this thread before, apologies if this seems a weird time to post but I'm from Belfast, Northern Ireland so I guess our time zones are quite a bit different from many of you! I've worked full time in a bank for 35 years and my job involves me flying from Belfast to London every Monday, working…

How about giving the restaurant a ring and seeing if they can provide you with a detailed copy of the menu beforehand? They're bound to get asked all the time by people who have specific food requirements. That way you can map out your strategy.......good luck - if it was me I'd bring a large handbag to stash any choccies…

Hey, you look fab in your photo - wish I was in my early twenties again! My daughter is roughly the same age as you and she's also prone to putting on weight; make sure you get some support from members on this site who are at the same stage of life as yourself, because they can best understand how you're feeling and the…

HI - I went through the menopause last year and my weight loss just.....stopped. Didn't go up, or down. Just halted. The good news is I kept on eating healthily and it has started to come off again in recent months, slowly at first but now picking up a bit. I think its something to do with hormones - I'm 51 too and I've…

I've never run in a marathon but I have marshalled a number of times - as marshals we're told to watch out for runners who look 'glazed over' and have perhaps gone beyond their ability - we encourage runners to write their names on their bib number - that way the marshal can shout 'Keep going Staci Marie!' and see if they…

Jeeze, and there was me dreaming of a Harley......guess I'd better get on with the workout.

Wow - you look fabulous AydeeElise; congratulations on your new baby! I'm not sure what the weather is like where you live, but if its possible, get the baby out in the pram/buggy for a walk each day - don't buy a 'big grocery shop' but instead buy a few essentials each day which gives you a reason to walk to the local…

SHHHHH!!! Eksr - you're supposed to be 18 to use this site!! Great to see that you're looking after yourself and trying to eat healthily mind you.....but make sure you get your mum to log in from now on.............lol - ELIGIBILITY BY USING THE SERVICES, YOU REPRESENT AND WARRANT THAT YOU ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AND ARE…

Perhaps I also read the comment in sarcastic font because of the comment from Reginab1984 on another current discussion 'what has mental health issues got to do with losing weight' - another thoughtless comment made to an agoraphobic member who is worried she might be diabetic. Reginab1984, you really need to watch what…

You know something - I think that $23 would be money well spent - you could test yourself and your husband.......get him to contribute half of the cost; $11 might give you some peace of mind or help you decide if you need more medical advice. Particularly if you've noticed some unusual symptoms just this weekend; my mum…

Great response AliceDark - far too many negative posters on this site. Lets encourage and support each other, remembering some members are very new to the whole healthy eating/weight loss thing and need some help kicking it off successfully. Just saying.

Hi - I notice you're suffering from agoraphobia - could the doctor do a home visit? Or is it possible to get a home testing kit for diabetes? I don't know a lot about them but it might be worth exploring just to put your mind at ease.

Hey, well done you shovelling all that snow!!! Just goes to show how we can all keep fit and lose weight doing 'everyday' things without the need for expensive gyms! Great to hear you sounding so motivated and full of life; keep it going, you'll see real results v quickly at this rate! And you'll be in great shape when the…

What are you drinking instead of the soda? Just be careful because fruit juice can have high sugar levels and would contribute to weight gain - so would smoothies, milky coffees/lattes etc. Try drinking water if you like it, or although some people are critical of them, I've found that Diet Coke/Pepsi straight from the…

I agree - you should go see the doctor, if only to put your mind at rest re the possibility of diabetes. If its ruled out, then you can really take charge of your diet and make fairly fundamental changes which will deliver results fast. If you do have diabetes, you'll be given guidance on your diet so that you can control…

Hi - I see you're just 19; I've a 21 year old daughter living at home so I guess you might living with your parent(s) or in university accommodation? This is a brilliant time for you to learn about eating healthily; your body will snap back into shape really quickly because your skin is so elastic at 19!!! Is there someone…

Hi - the popping/cracking sound you're hearing is known as Crepidus - google it, whether or not you work out with Crepidus largely depends on whether you're experiencing pain at the same time as the noise. My knee has been very damaged over many years and makes frightening noises but as there is no pain, the doc says I'm…

well done reaching out to the Brits - uni is a time when some people don't eat particularly well (I've a son and daughter both at university) so its great to see someone making an effort to contact fellow UK members. Good luck with the weight loss everyone (and the studies....!)

Hi - as a mum of a college student, I think you're a great role model to others who perhaps have little experience of how to budget or how to eat well on a very limited budget. Don't know what you are studying at college, but if it doesn't turn out you should think seriously about being a nutritionist or home economics…
