  • I weigh in daily. It helps keep me accountable.
  • I have found great clothes on eBay. You can find low cost, brand name clothing that is like new or even new with tags. It helped me to stay in decent work clothes until I reached my target weight. Just bought 4 new blouses on eBay for less than the cost of 1 blouse at a department store.
  • My weight gain of the past 2 1/2 years was directly related to menopause. I have lost the weight by watching my carb intake. My reward at the end of a day is a piece of Darryl Lea red licorice. Snacks are almonds or carrots and celery. I exercise on the Nordic Track and try to walk as much as I can while at work.
  • I have not been able to run due to my knees and lack of knee cartilage. Even brisk walking can cause problems, too. I have used a Nordic Track ski machine for over 20 years. Absolutely love it. It gives me a high like runners describe. I ski about 6 mph using arms, too.
  • I, too, am 5' 1" and now weigh 110.2 pounds. I am technically at my goal but I would like to weigh 108 or so to give myself a cushion. I have had the same problem as you. The weight used to come off at a pound a week and now it is leveling off and down to a pound a month with the increased appetite. I continue to log in…
  • Log in to My Fitness Pal everyday. Carefully chart your food intake. Find an exercise you love and follow through. When you get to the maintenance after weight loss, continue the program. If you have a bad day, pick yourself up and keep going.
  • I weigh every day but it's just for my information. I record my weight when I have lost weight which is usually every 3-4 days. This works for me so I will not slip back into old habits and will catch weight gain in the future before it gets too high. I do not take measurements because my pants have dropped several sizes…
  • For now, just make sure you are under your daily calorie requirement and try to get out and walk, or other form of exercise. You will lose weight. As the weight starts to drop, keep focused on what you can do and do not listen to the others. Try to stay away from junk food, such as chips or candy, and focus on remaining…
  • I have knee issues resulting from knee surgeries that removed much of my cartilage, so I must exercise non-impact. I have had my NordicTrack ski machine for 21 years and have never grown tired of it. You can set the machine to be a very demanding workout. It is still fun to ski.
  • I am small-boned, 5' 1" and am maintaining 112 pounds on 1200 calories a day. I eat my exercise calories. My age is probably contributing to my metabolism but I have never been a big eater and do not feel starved. Sorry but I cannot believe someone could be 5 inches taller than me and need to weigh 110.
  • I quit eating potato chips and substituted 6 almonds as a snack in the evening. My hunger pangs subsided immediately and I lost weight. After 6 months, I allowed myself to have a day of chips as a reward but then went back to my almonds the next day. Everything else is just moderation of diet and exercise.
  • Brian, what an amazing story! Your hard work has been an inspiration to us all. Thank you for sharing and good luck with Jackie!
  • You are doing a great job! What an inspiration to others!
  • The key is to pace yourself. Don't overdo exercise or eat too few calories, or you will never reach your goal. You can do this!
  • I have lost 25 pounds since August, too. I modified my original goal to lose an additional 5 pounds, so I will have a cushion for holidays and special events. I am beginning to purchase new slacks and it is such fun! Enjoy yourself and keep those rewards coming!
  • Awesome job! It is great to hear! I have nearly reached my goal and have lost 24 pounds since September 10th and have about 3 pounds to go. Before I wore elastic waist pants for comfort but now my friends are telling me to start buying new slacks in a smaller size! Buying 4 petites!
