Thank you for the opportunity ~

this sounds exactly like me. started getting serious with my running in january and set a goal to run a 1/2 (ended up doing two, the last one was 4 weeks ago). while i absolutely love to run for so many reasons, probably the same reasons you love it, i decided to give it up for the same reasons you listed. injuries, yes,…

it's interesting to see such a variety. i'm also 5'9", hover around 165 and wear size 10. i'm seeing several of you who are my same height and weight who are fitting into a size 6. can't imagine ever fitting my frame into a 6, so more power to you!

op, i'm so glad to hear that your body wasn't ruined. mine was shot to **** -- having quadruplets and vertical c-section tends to do that to some people. all i can do is embrace my good fortune and learn to love tankinis.

most would disagree, but i can't stand being called a beast. beast, beast-mode, beast-like... not for me.

i had great results with hiit on the treadmill, 2-3x week. after a 2-3 months it ended up being too much for my knees to handle. they were always hurting and i thought they were shot for good, but once i eliminated hiit i was able to start running again. it's been about a year since i've eliminated hiit and since then i…

how cool to be 5'11"! i'm 5'9" and kick it up to 6"1 with heels whenever i can. my before/after pics are on my profile pic. i'm down several sizes and happy to no longer have people tell me "you're lucky you're so tall because you can carry your weight well." best of luck on your journey!

-- i'm rose -- i live in a north dallas suburb -- i have many fitness goals and can't begin to list them. i promise i will work on that and get back to you -- my fave foods include nutella and generic cinnamon toast crunch. no, seriously. -- my fitness hobbies include running. i also dabble in lifting weights. thanks for…

you are absolutely beautiful and inspiring ~ i'm proud to have you as a MFP friend. keep on rockin -- you're amazing!

so true. and the 40s bring a whole set of issues that i didn't have when i was in my 30s, even though i was a lot heavier then. it's more difficult, but not impossible. hang tough ~

i don't care if it's bad for the body -- it's good for the soul.

i do my running at night after the kids go to bed. my bff is an early bird and does hers at 5 in the morning. i personally think that is nuts so i do mine btwn 8 and 10 at night. good luck!

i call mine extra skin just to make myself feel better :)

i don't have a question, just praise. tony is my dietitian and has helped a ton of people meet their health and fitness needs, myself included. you should check out his website from his mfp home page. and for the swimmer from flower mound, since you're so close you should take advantage of the free assessments he offers!…

offensive? probably. but if someone called me a milf would i secretly be high-fiving myself? probably.

omg it's a COUpon, not a Q-pon. and if i hear one more person say heighTH instead of heighT...
-
i can relate to everything you're saying - i'm also 5'9" and 160 and i went through a rough period when i was having to deal with all of the criticism after losing 60 lbs.. there is nothing i can say that hasn't already been posted -- just hang tough and this will eventually pass over time when people get used to seeing…

i won't go into details, but it involved a jar of nutella. not my finest hour.
-
and the smell of beer makes me hurl, too.
-
pumpkin pie. the smell alone makes me gag. my mom could never set it out at thanksgiving. i think i must have gorged on an entire pie in one sitting or something when i was younger and it had a negative effect on me. gross.
-
i'm no expert, but i drink diet drinks just about every day. usually twice. i did it before i lost 60 lbs and i still do it today. i did it when i was at 38% body fat, and i still do it at 17% body fat.
-
thanks, everyone ~ i appreciate the support and advice!
-
thanks, guys ~ the solution seems so simple and some would even take the "a true friend wouldn't treat you like that" route, but it's just not that easy. we have talked. twice. and that is why i can empathize with her to an extent. she just can't seem to get into the fitness game -- she's even met with my trainer/dietitian…

i hate shopping and i don't pinterest.

it's definitely not impossible, but i have found it to be harder than when i was younger and compared to my younger friends. check out my favorite article on this topic: http://www.stumptuous.com/rant-63-february-2012-in-praise-of-older-women she puts in in great perspective (using some foul language, of course. please…
