  • You don't need eggs or meat for protein. As a vegan I get my protein from beans, nuts, and veggies. The occasional meat replacer, or pea protein powder in a smoothie. Also, a vegan diet is completely cholesterol free. Cholesterol is only found in meat, dairy and eggs.

  • Congrats! I also found that target runs small (meaning I wear larger sizes there than other stores). So you could probably fit comfortably in another Stores 4 :)
  • Oreos are totally vegan, only wheat and soy in those babies. Check out Peta's Accidentally Vegan lists! http://www.peta.org/living/vegetarian-living/accidentally-vegan.aspx
  • I personally take flax seed oil supplements; however I have heard of people adding it as a sprinkling to their favorite cereals in the morning or salads.
  • I loved that documentary! Really got me back into vitamins :)
  • I have been vegan now for 2 months and couldn't be happier. It was the easiest and best decision I have ever made for myself. I would recommend reading: Vegan in 30 Days; The Kind Life (which is also a cookbook). Iphone apps if you have it: iVegan, VeganXpress, Foodditives. Mostly what we like about meat is the sauces and…
  • How funny, I was discussing this just yesterday with my boyfriend about wanting to do the 100 pushup and 200 situps program. 2 things I have NEVER been able to do a lot of. How is it working out for you? How far into it are you?
  • Welcome to the fickle Ohio weather! lol Also welcome to MFP. My sister found it and told me about it and I have told everybody I know of it since. Good luck in your journeys, the Wii is what 1st got me up and moving as well.
  • I get up to go to the gym at 5am. So I like to pack 100% Whole Wheat bagels and put 1 tablespoon of jelly into a snack sized baggie. (Cut one edge and squeeze onto the bagel) This is under 300 calories. I likie them toasted so I pop them in the toaster and let them cool in the toaster before packing them so they aren't…
  • My boyfriend and I are trying this tomorrow. I'm not really concerned with the inches, just with the detox. We found a special for $49.00 each. first visit will lose 5-15 inches (total). I have also read that it is great for the skin. I'm fairly certain the results are temporary (as in lost toxins and water weight) but…
  • I have lost 104lbs, and I truly understand! My legs, arms, and butt are tiny and the majority of my weight is in my stomach. I feel out of proportion. To help me feel better, I have started recording total body measurements. Since starting this back in Sept 9/17 to be exact I have lost 4 inches off my waist alone! Walking…
  • Excellent point! We tend to put the scale away (in the closet, not laid flat) when we have company because it is in the hallway. Perhaps we should move it more out of the way like to the back room, re-zero it by battery removal and then just not move it ever again. lol I am very proud of the progress you have already made.
  • I am sorry that you are feeling discouraged. That scale is not our friend. We have made huge progress these past 2 months and everyday we learn something new and move on. Keep your chin up and keep on going down the path that we are on. We all have off days and weeks. Honestly? I would say it the stress you have been…
  • Morning. I haven't necessarily gained lbs; however depending on what I am wearing, how often since I ate, how late I ate etc I have noticed that my weight can stay the same. I tend to weigh myself before I eat anything in the morning. I was getting discouraged and decided to see how many inches I have lost. I would…
  • Congrats! I made the plunge to Veganism as the last change of bad habits that need to be broken. I became vegan on 9/20/10 and am so excited to hit the 1 month mark. It's been one of the best and surprisingly easiest decisions I have ever made. Did you go through mega detox? My hardest thing to give up was cheese, but…
  • First of all, congratulations! You have done something that it is very hard to do. I recently quit smoking cold turkey. Orbit Spearmint Gum, walking and believe it or not, water helped me. If I thought I wanted to eat as a replacement I would drink a glass of water to help me feel full and chew gum. It was cheaper and low…
  • Thank you kindly!
  • I also suggest pre-packaging. I tend to portion everything out that I need to pack for my work weeks so every night all I have to do is put the next days food in my lunch bag. Then there are no excuses for hitting a drive thru.
  • One most work days I have a low calorie cereal (chocolate cheerios are amazing) and fat free milk with a piece of whole fruit. I also like fat free cottage cheese and fruit. On work from home days and weekends I enjoy egg beaters w/ fat free cheese, turkey bacon and lite wheat toast w/ smart balance butter. Blueberry Fiber…
  • I like to make those Bird's Eye Voila skillet meals (feeds 2). Huge varity in flavors and almost all of them are under 300 calories/serving. My favorite so far is the Sweet and Sour Chicken. Stouffer's also makes this and most are under 400 calories per serving. I make those a lot for dinner. I find them filing and chocked…
  • The first time I went to a gym my friend put me on an eliptical. The motion was awkward! About 3 minutes into the program he looks at me and almost falls off his eliptical laughing at me... Apparently I looked like "Bambi learning to walk". ;) As far as intimidation... I have that. I don't know how to use all of that…
  • I have the same issue! I googled foods high in potassium and there are some helpful lists and charts out there. Apricots seems to be one of the higher potassium foods.
  • Baby Carrots and Hummus are good sometimes I also packed sliced cucumber instead of hummus. Small Apples, grapes, and yogurts also make my lists daily for healthy low carb snacks.
