  • Admins: hope this is allowed, if not, feel free to delete. NO warning necessary.
  • I just started back up a month ago. Feel free to add me.
  • OP, this is a good thread, much appreciated! Tacklewasher, that's cool to see. And good to hear about the happy scale app for the IOS. Downloaded! :) As for the other stuff, I always look at my eliminations b4 hitting Johns buttons. Looking at eliminations is the BEST way to tell what's going on in your system, and that…
  • I don't have APT, but I definitely have a pelvic injury from a botched surgery I had in 2010. It's been a complete bear, and the ONLY thing I have found to open up the hip flexor's and keep the injury (as well as my CNS) happy, is to stretch, and stretch and stretch and stretch, on the floor and on a pilates arc (it's…
  • As peeps on here have told me repeatedly, plateaus take a LOT of patience and perseverance! My body is like yours, too, I call it the cro-magnum metabolism. I'll lose a lot at first, then slow down to a crawl. It's not only incredibly annoying, but really discouraging. I think (based on my own record keeping), that we all…
  • Yup. I would second everything that has already been said. Most pre-menopausal women, retain water, around their cycle. My weight used to fluctuate monthly, by almost 10 pounds. There's also the fact that food STILL weighs a LOT, when it hits your colon. One of the months I fasted, (a few years ago), I literally weighed…
  • I don't know where all this negativity comes from? When I have made the mistake of giving into my rebellious inner child, I have eaten this many calories (to make up for the binge-eating) and STILL exercised. Not everyone has the same body composition and one shoe definitely does not fit all. I'm with you, rclifton76,…
  • I'm with you there..........after my botched surgery in 2010, I lost a bunch of weight from fasting (tried that to see if it would help my digestion improve). It didn't help my digestion much, but I did get back to my pre-surgery weight of 170-175. Then I lost a daughter and grandson during the same week as Sandyhook; got…
  • I feel your pain.......my SO (Significant Other), eats normally, quite naturally. For him, it's like breathing. He's ONE OF THOSE people who can eat TWO cookies, and STOP. Or ONE serving of ice cream, and STOP. His diet isn't what I would call terribly healthy (mostly carbs and meat/eggs), but he rarely overeats, and…
  • NONE of my protein powders made those lists. I was a bit surprised to see one that I used to use (who had independent testing), get only 3 stars. Glad I dropped it, it was making me queasy. None of the ones I use now, are ever on any mainstream testing sites. Pays to do your own research.
  • I generally lose a LOT, right out of the gate, but then my weight loss stalls and stalls........last time, it stalled so long, MFP and fitbit, cut my calories to 200 per day. that's when I gave up. trying to be more sensible this time and keep an eagle eye on trends..........it's probably better then b4, my body usually…
  • Yes. I've noticed that it's a bit glitchy, wasn't sure why, being a new owner, just thought it was user-error. lol. It's been not-syncing that well, but only seems to happen at around 6:00 p.m. so I just wait until right b4 I go to bed, and try it then, which has worked well. I am guessing that the mother ship gets slammed…
  • I don't know what Clean Label Project is referring to........are you talking about the labdoor.com?
  • *everything I use, that's on there.....so far, only found the supplements.........and only a handful........
  • I took another gander at the LabDoor, and everything I use, passed with royal colors (88% or higher). It pays to do your own research!
  • So far, so good. Getting my garmin up to speed and almost ready to link it to MFP. I LOVE it, so far. Much easier and more intuitive then the fitbit. Already sold the fitbit HR, after only 2 days on Craigs list. I LOVE having the gps on my wrist and NOT having to carry my smartphone everywhere! I am going to keep the…
  • Most of the mainstream places to look for information, have been 'bought out' by big name corporations, to push their product up on the list. There is no substitute for doing your own research, I generally call up the company and ask for their product manufacturing executive and question them at length about sourcing and…
  • That's a cool link you posted, (labdoor.com) but of course, NONE of the ones I buy, is listed. Part of that is that they just aren't 'mainstream' and part of that is that they are small, independent, operations, who allow for outside testing. I do a LOT of research before wasting my money on inferior product.
  • I should have said that i also only buy the organic ones that have independent lab analysis. Yes, I know that even some of the organic ones are not especially pure. If the greens they use are not field tested, then they could have anything in them. Hence the independent verification.
  • Well. I sorta' agree with gamesandgains. get another husband. lol. Anyhow, all of our husbands/partners can be insensitive and brusk; it's a man thing, I think. I am lucky mine is not, at least in that dept. He always says that anything I can do, to help myself, is good, and supports my various and sundry attempts at…
  • I've been finding that bubbly water fills me up, quite nicely. Even if you drink a whole quart, that's not many calories and it's water, so win-win.
  • Feel free to add me, too. I have been a member of MFP for 3-5 years, but with only intermittent tracking.......trying to do better this time.
  • I don't know what that is, (is it aspartame or something else created in a lab?), so research would be my first step. Drill down and find out what it is, exactly. Most alternatives are made in a lab, and I'm convinced that our bodies (i.e. our dna/rna), don't actually recognize them. I have been easing into using monk…
  • I'm with you there. The minute I stop glaring at my diet with hyper-vigilance, I pack on the weight. Gah. I swear, I can pack on 5 pounds in a week, but it takes 3 weeks to get it off. This default value is not entirely our fault, from what I know about bio-physiology, we are designed like that, to conserve. Small comfort,…
  • I do not know why folks are so negative and lash out so easily on here. I think the internet breeds them.......sigh. I also supposedly have IBS. I say supposedly as I no longer trust Western Medicine. What a bunch of whack jobs. I suppose you know, already, that it's not really a diagnosis, but merely a catch all term for…
  • For anyone else interested in this: there's quite a few 'refurbished' ones on ebay, for less even, then most of the fitbit appliances. (<$50.00). I never buy anything new due to price gouging. I used to work for one of the richest people in town, and she told me to never buy anything new.......even on sale, we're paying…
  • Thanks stanmann571! I'll report back and maybe we can set up a post for just garmin users. I am excited to try them out. :)
  • Thanks Tacklewasher. Always good to have more viewpoints. :) I was just going to try out the cheap two I've already bought, and if I like one of them enough, step up to a better version of that brand. I think I actually have a small set of screwdrivers that go to my sewing machine, so pretty sure I can manage it. I ended…
  • This thread is getting pretty long but I saw this and couldn't resist sharing........ :)
  • Thanks everyone. You're awesome! I am going to try a couple of cheap things, the alta, the vivoactive, see what works better. I usually have to cycle through a bunch of things to find the one that works for me. If it's something that touches my skin, I tend to be finicky, (I blame that on the Virgo in my house of home and…
