I keep to keto myself as far as nutrition (I aim for a net of under 50 per day), though I don't speak on it in the forums often because of the condescending attitudes of some people. My results have been great and I do not get hungry thanks to the protein intake. People can feel free to eat my share of carbs and sugar.

I just drink it black. I can find better things to waste calories on.

Like many other things in life, it all boils down to determination. If you want it bad enough, you will get it.

Welcome to MFP! Part of the initial process for me was also taking a cold hard look in the mirror, and not just physically either. I can't offer much dietary advice to you since I am a Keto guy, but feel free to add me if you like for additional support. I am a daily logger and poster.

Thanks guys, I found "The New Rules of Lifting" on ebay for 5.50 with free shipping so I went ahead and picked it up.

I have kept a fairly strict keto regimen for about the last 3 months and I like it because the weight comes off and I do not feel hungry. According to my Dr. I have never been healthier, and my energy levels are skyrocketing. I am sure it is not for everyone however, and some of the people here love to call me an idiot for…

I sort of lucked out in that I still had a ton of old stuff back at my parents house that they never got rid of (My parents are not the garage sale type). Though now I am approaching the point when even they are no longer going to be adequate anymore, so I will have to break down and buy some new gear in the next month or…

Hi Heather and Welcome, Feel free to add me as I am a daily logger and poster on here. You will get a ton of different opinions on the best approach for weight loss, but the key is finding the one which works best for you and your body. As for me personally, I am down about 65 pounds in 6 and a half months (over 30 of…

Your body is already in crisis mode trying to mend a serious injury, so trying to stick to any kind of fitness routine is a bad idea in this situation. Your body will have an even more difficult time trying to heal when you are putting additional strain on it, and you also run the risk of more serious injuries. While I…

Personally, I do not eat back all my calories from exercise. Especially on days like today (I pull "2-a-days" on cardio on Saturdays) when I burned almost 1700. I would have to practically stuff myself to accomplish that feat. I ate a larger than normal dinner tonight, but I am not going to gorge just to eat back my…

My Dad worked and retired from the industry as an airline captain (my Mom finally forced his retirement as it was straining their marriage him flying the O'hare to Charles De Gaulle) As such, I learned how to fly at a very young age, and still take up the Bonanza at least a couple of times a month. Flying does not mean to…

College at 15? I must say, I am impressed. Not that I thought you sucked beforehand Sarah :) I took a couple of college classes as a senior in HS, but I can't imagine being a full time undergrad student at 15. I would of probably been found dead in a ditch somewhere with a beer bong super glued to my lips had I of…

Running is one of the best provided your lower extremities can handle to strain. If not, there are always the low impact machines that can burn a ton of calories also (elliptical, Cybex, Cross-trainers, etc).

I say go for it! And congrats on your already growing running resume.

I can only talk on this subject from my own personal experience, as I do not have a scientific background for anything other than computers. That said, I have been on an essentially ketogenic diet for about the last 7 months. I am down just shy of 65 pounds (20 since coming to MFP) and I have not felt this fantastic since…

Welcome, Feel free to add me. I log and post daily :)

Since I joined MFP and have been keeping meticulous track of things, I have dropped just shy of 20 pounds in about 3 and a half weeks. I eat a ketogenic diet and spend an hour per day doing cardio.

I use a JawBone UP, and I absolutely love it.

Since I joined MFP (and even slightly before), I do it once a week on Sunday morning after my workout. The gym has the most accurate scale, and I also want to make sure I use the same one every time.

Welcome, I am new to this as well. Well, new to MFP anyways. Feel free to add me.

Hey Brian, As a guy that just recently finished up grad school and entered the "real world", I can completely empathize with how academia has the uncanny tendency to pack on the pounds. I ordered Pizza and Chinese so many times it would make your head spin (to say nothing of my gargantuan intake of alcohol). Getting in…

I do find it somewhat odd that they host "Pizza Nights" once a month when they are supposed to be promoting fitness. It is very affordable to work out there though.

Weight loss is my primary goal at present, and I have already seen great success to that end in the last few months
