I'm trying to get into the ketogenic lifestyle myself but don't know where to start I mean I tried it and caved to carbs which is a no, no! But I'm struggling to loose again....i need help but it's hard with holidays around the corner...which I know with the right motivation I can beat this...i just need to be pointed in the right direction and its hard because not everyone around me besides my husband is supportive on my journey....i mean yeah, you supported me while I was killing myself with obesity but when I want to do something about it....you don't have my back...

Well, I went Paleo and my weight, blood pressure and cholesterol all went up. I know people swear by it, but it didn't work for me. Going back to 95% vegan (with about 5% off-plan food) works for me. Cholesterol is down 53 points just by diet change. Good luck to you whatever you choose! :drinker:

SoyBoricua78, it's especially definitely difficult culturally! My family is Filipino and we eat so many carbs, especially rice! My wife and I just started Keto and though she is slowly getting into it, I have already noticed some changes in my body fat. Your husband is the perfect motivator. You need to stick with it and continue on. I don't know if you're familiar with reddit, which is essentially an online message board, but there is a huge following on there that is devoted to Keto. There are Frequently Asked Questions, Start Up questions, and what it's all about! Please please please check it out. I would like for you to succeed, but you have to be able to fight and use some self-control when it comes to food, especially when the holidays come. Here is the site. http://reddit.com/r/keto

I've made the change to a keto lifestyle, it's really working for me. It took a while to get it right but now the weight is coming off and I feel better than I have in a long while. Good luck please feel free to add if you want to share the journey :)

Keto can not be used for long periods of time. Keeping carbs below 20g daily is dangerous it should be done no more then 12 weeks low carbs mean really high fats mean cholestoral problems

Find what works for you. I know paleo would be impossible for me to maintain. One of my earlier attempts to eat better was vegetarian, but I spent so much time fretting over everything from getting enough protein to panicking over vitamins and minerals (this from me, who's previous diet consisted of frozen pizza and deserts). So now my philosophy is eat healthy, I started making dinner from scratch, but if I feel like having chocolate, I'm going to have some chocolate. Just not the entire bar.

  • I have kept a fairly strict keto regimen for about the last 3 months and I like it because the weight comes off and I do not feel hungry. According to my Dr. I have never been healthier, and my energy levels are skyrocketing.

I am sure it is not for everyone however, and some of the people here love to call me an idiot for being a practitioner of it, but then again, I am not asking them to adopt it either, so I do not really understand all the saber rattling. All I do know is that it works well for me, and I do not really miss all the carbs and sugar anymore. I was formerly poisoning myself with all that crap.

Feel free to add me if you like. I am a daily logger and poster.
