  • Yes I took mine out about 6 months ago and had the same fear. I even had hubby double check I had tightened the screws sufficiently (without over tightening and cracking the thread). It has been fine, no fogging of the face at all. I swim occasionally but my biggest fear was the heated spa pool - but no worries, the…
  • Sunday adjusted for me - but Monday didnt (as yet)
  • Garmin did have a problem with syncing this morning - I was reading their forum and there were pages of people complaining about it
  • I removed and replaced my ant and that helped my syncing. Occasionally Connect has a slack day and it is difficult for most people to sync (having said that mine has been perfect for about the last two months).
  • If I am pushing a pram (or shopping trolley) for a long distance I remove the vivofit from my wrist and attach it to the waistband of my jeans (or in a pocket). I find it gives a more accurate reading there.
  • If you have selected weight loss as your goal in mfp (as opposed to weight maintenance) they build in the deficit required to lose weight. So if you eat back your exercise calories you should still be eating a deficit - however, mfp over estimates the calorie burn of many exercises so a lot of people only eat back a…
  • Thats weird. My only suggestion would be to set up a small test run/walk course (at least 15 minutes) and run it a few times trying different things (pace, arm swing, hrm position etc) and see if you can nail down the anomaly.
  • mfp and connect both have different ways of calculation bmr. Neither of them are going to change their formula - so hence the slight difference.
  • Much the same here. I get between 30-80% higher readings with the HRM than the vivofit alone (on the same course). I put it down to my pace and the hills/hollows in the terrain. They have been tinkering with the calorie reading in the Connect Activity - trying to get it to show just the activity, not the total for the day…
  • Mine also stopped working yesterday afternoon, but this morning when I logged on all transfers have been made. I didnt reset/resync/reload anything - just waited.
  • Great news on the activity front. Today as a test I did 2 walking 'activities' - both transferred from connect to mfp (separately and including times). There is also a garmin adjustment to cover the steps I did outside of the activities (obviously with no time component).
  • I don't own a forerunner so I can't say for sure, but there was talk about an upgrade that would recognise the 'superior' garmin item during an activity time frame.
  • I think they may be tinkering with their program again. I am having trouble with the red line - it is not showing up on the vivofit but it is showing on the today graph - BUT it is also showing steps above the red line, so how can I have been inactive?
  • No worries - I was 'thick as a brick' when I started using mine
  • Sorry I cant help with that one. Hope you can work it out :)
  • On the Connect website (under device, I think) you can select what options you want to appear on your vivofit.
  • It has been fine since. Perhaps I had just knocked it loose sometime. Thanks for the imput.
  • Hi d4rkkn. Glad to have a new poster here.
  • Do you use a hrm with the vivofit? If so it will log your cycling as an activity and then transfer it to mfp automatically. If connect and mfp are synced your step calories will automatically transfer over.
  • Yes my step calories from my Vivofit/connect show up everytime on mfp (takes between 5-30 minutes to transfer) Yes Garmin add 20% to your basic bmr to cover accidental activity (though I believe they are going to go back to a true bmr eventually). If your vivofit is synced to your hrm it should show up as an activity -…
  • I havent been swimming with mine yet. But 3 months of showers/baths and it is still good - no condensation on the screen at all. It will be interesting to see what steps it calculates for swimming. If you get any feedback let us know
  • I just tried syncing and nothing happened. I checked into connect via a different approach and it said my ant was not connected (I never remove it, and it has been fine for the last few days). I simply pulled the ant out and replaced it and it synced perfectly. I have not noticed any problems with my step count, but I will…
  • I was waiting for the fitbit force to reach Australia, unfortunately it was recalled before it made it. I did a heap of research and ended up buying a Garmin Vivofit, similar to the fitbit but has a 12month battery :) plus a few other benefits. I has tripled the amount of walking I do, I now average 15k steps a day. I also…
  • Hi petey - I am sure you will love your vivofit (eventually lol). Yes it does take a bit to figure out, but doing so keeps your mind focused on your diet and exercise. A couple of tips that may help you - - It takes 5-20 minutes for Connect to talk to mfp regarding the transfer of calories or exercise - connect and mfp…
  • As you know BMR is what your body would use if you just laid in bed all day and did not move. Not many people do that, currently (expected to change in July) Garmin add an extra 20% to cover the basic activity of a day (moving around the house, cleaning teeth etc).
  • Hi Mayalass, welcome. Zulumka on your Connect steps report - total calories graph - the bottom blue section of the bar is your bmr. I have lost 3kg and mine has decreased 40 points.
  • Zulumka Yes it will have dropped. Have you manually changed your weight at Garmin Connect? I don't think it automatically pulls it from mfp.
  • I dont think you can change the bmr exactly although you can change your activity level (connect - settings - activity class) which will alter the figure. Similar with mfp.
  • Smooth sailing for me so far. A slight difference in my bmr between mfp and garmin - which follows through in the active calories, but that is no biggie, and it is the same every day so it will be easy to factor in.
  • Airangel have you changed you meal names? I read earlier that it causes problems with identification of calories consumed.
