I purchased a cheap-o one by black & decker. I paid $30 for it. Works well but may burn out in a year or two. It gets the job done though for now.

I think once a week is sufficient. Otherwise, you will find yourself freaking out with every weigh in. God forbid you're a lb heavier! Just keep it to once per week and preferably in the morning.
