  • You could cook meals to your calories and he can add whatever else he wants to get to his calories. As for the ice cream... you have to make it fit in your calories or go without.
  • A note about bipolar. Many people with bipolar have addiction issues. Alcohol, shopping, sex, food. Binges would be worth discussing with your therapist.
  • Regarding your IBS look into Monash University's FODMAP diet. It's an elimination and reintroduction diet to determine what your digestive system is reacting to.
  • Whoa! It's a really bad idea to stop your antidepressant cold turkey. Talk to your doctor and they can work with you to titrate the dose down if you must. One thing to consider is you may be feeling really good because of the antidepressant and stopping it will take away your progress. As far as weight gain on your meds.…
  • Awesome progress! You worked hard.
  • It is impossible to build muscle while in a calorie deficit. You can however build strength and lose fat which make the muscles you have visible. To build muscle you need a calorie surplus and a lot of weight training. It's also a lot more difficult for women to build muscle than men because of our lower levels of…
  • Do you have seasonal allergies? I'm allergic to everything outside as well as dust, perfumes etc. My worst times of the year are spring and autumn. My cardio really suffers during those times despite my allergy meds.
  • Epsom salts are magnesium salts. The generic Epsom salts found in the "medical" aisle of stores are often significantly cheaper than the fancier packages marketed aa "sports medicine" or "spa bath salts". When selecting the type of magnesium pill/ powder to ingest make sure you consider the type of magnesium. For example…
  • Try posting on Freecycle.
  • Thank you for sharing your amazing story! 💞💞
  • The Strong Curves book is an excellent resource if you are new to lifting. I still refer to it occasionally. It has clear photos of lots of lifts, from really common ones to obscure lifts. The photos are from each stage of a lift. The book also has photos of bad form so you can avoid that. I've never used his program per…
  • Wear polyester preferably. Or wool. Cotton absorbs water like a sponge and your tshirt will be triple it's weight once wet. I wouldn't buy anything special for your first ocr. If you like it/ want to do more then you can get an ocr wardrobe. I like to bring a complete change of clothing so my car doesn't get trashed. Shoes…
  • This. Also join freecycle. You can even ask for whatever equipment you want and someone may give it to you, especially if you are willing to pick it up.
  • This sounds like a bad dynamic. I would stay far far away from these two as they are putting you in the middle instead of the son telling his Mom 1. to stop nagging him and 2. he has no interest in working out.
  • I don't have Graves but I know many find it difficult to lose weight until their thyroid numbers are in a normal/ optional range. If you are symptom free, work with your dr to get good thyroid numbers. If you do have a lot of symptoms look into dietary changes. There isn't 1 medically accepted diet for autoimmune diseases…
  • A lot of space is taken up by jars and jars of condiments. Sometimes people have multiple bottles of the same exact ones and more than one open. Check the expiration dates on all of them. Make sure all similar items are grouped together I try and eat down the contents of my fridge/ freezer and pantry 1-3x a year. Check the…
  • This is a situation in which I would use the "quick add" option in the diary. The ... on the right side of your diary. Enter 500-600 calories, eat sushi and move on with my day. Enjoy your sushi!
  • Three weeks isn't such a long time. If the trend continues I would have your doctor check your estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and a full thyroid panel including thyroid antibodies, T3, T4, free T3 and free T4 not just TSH as some doctors run. Might as well check cortisol as well.
  • The only way to know for sure which of those 4 factors is the biggest impact is to spend a few weeks only doing 1-3. Then a few more weeks doing 2-4. Etc etc. Likely all of those things are impacting weight. I wouldn't bother identifying exactly how much unless you plan on changing/ eliminating the cause.
  • I used alittlebityummy.com's reintroduction guide. They tested extra categories including stacking FODMAPS and their guide was more specific. They would use grams versus some guides that say 1/2 a peach. Half a small peach? A large peach? Who knows. I have identified my triggers and can navigate them to keep my GI system…
  • Did you see a GI dr? I'm surprised they didn't discuss a low FODMAP diet with you. Ideally you work with a FODMAP trained dietician because if FODMAP isn't helping you they can troubleshoot to see what other food issues you may have. The gold standard source for FODMAP foods is the Monash University app. You do have to pay…
  • If you spend hours every day logging and meal prepping you are doing something wrong. I'm sorry to be so blunt but that isn't normal. It takes longer to navigate the logging system when you first start but that time should decrease rapidly. If you explain exactly what you are doing during that time we can probably give you…
  • You have a lot of extreme, illogical thinking going on. I urge you to speak to a dietician and counselor to stop your yoyo behavior.
  • Yoga is not flawless. Yoga is a practise. There are modifications for almost all poses. There are tools like blocks, straps, chairs, towels and bolsters to help you. Yoga helps build balance and movement. Yoga is for real people, every one of us. Give it a shot.
  • There are loads of swimming classes. My gym offers beginner, intermediate, fitness swimming, stroke technique and triathlete swim.
  • You may want to do a low FODMAP elimination and reintroduction diet to specifically identify your food triggers and the amounts of trigger food your body can tolerate.
  • Whoa! Your Doctor should be testing estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Also a full thyroid panel is necessary. TSH, T4,T3, Free T3, Free T4, thyroid antibodies and a couple more I'm not recalling off the top of my head.
  • Search for your favorite meals on YouTube and follow along. Good eats/Alton Brown videos are helpful and fun. America's Test Kitchen videos are good. Basics with Babish also helpful and fun. Learning to cook has a steep learning curve. It won't be great but you will learn fast. Ask someone to come over to help/ show you.…
  • Just an FYI all 3 of those foods are high in fructose. You may want to research other foods that are high in fructose to see if they also give you problems. Broccoli also can be high in fructans. Apples and pears are also high in sorbitol.
