  • It's really kind of not obvious how to add someone as a friend when they post in these forums. If you copy their UserName and go up to the top menus, there is an option for "Find Members". Paste their name into that and search. When it loads up, there is a button to add them as a friend. I think they still have to approve…
  • Mmmm, Indian food. That's my favorite. Just set a reasonable amount of calories to eat for the day and stick to it. If you set a goal of 2000 - 3000 calories, you can eat a whole pile of food if you put some thought into it. You can feel full and not feel a bit of guilt at the same time. I'm sure you will be fine...
  • Just do your best guess. I lost 75 pounds and ate out at lunch almost five days a week (because we travel a lot at work). I know the best things to get at almost any fast food place. But the meals like you mentioned are the hardest to calculate. Not impossible, though. Just get as close as you can and don't sweat it.

  • Ok, so under 45 minutes seems reasonable and doable. That helps, thanks. So if I hit 23:30, that will be sweet, too. :) Not sure why so much bolding??? Only *first* was supposed to have been bold.
  • How can diet sodas make you fat? Researchers trying to figure out whether artificial sweeteners really do make people fat think they’ve found a possible explanation — they may disrupt the bacteria in some people’s bodies. Their findings may shed light on why studies often contradict one another, with some finding that…
  • I'm in the Palestine area if anyone want to add me. I have my own outdoor gym I have been working on, but I'm also a member of the Palestine Y.
  • MFP is a great place to log calories. The message board is a horrible place to ask for advice on eating healthy. This is the crap you get if you do: 1) Define healthy! 2) Food is fuel, a calorie is a calorie 3) Eating good foods is a way for people to feel superior All of these arguments don't stand up to anyone with a bit…
  • Forgot this one. It's one of my favorites. I think I listened to it 3 times already: Bhagavad Gita: A Walkthrough for Westerners Right now, I just started: The Transpersonal Vision, by Stanislav Grof. It seems good so far... And for diet info, I really enjoyed the Bulletproof Diet. I lost 65 pounds in 2014, and I used a…
  • I haven't read that one. The last good yoga book I really enjoyed was "A Life Worth Breathing," by Max Strom. "Fierce Medicine," by Ana Forrest was sort of a train wreck, but a page turner in parts. "Light On Life," I made it through it but I couldn't hardly tell you a single thing from it. Maybe I need to go through that…
  • I'm about 3/4ths of the way through it for the second time. I've really enjoyed it. I just posted my review: A Descent into Hell-(Bent) In ancient mythology, a common theme is a dying and resurrecting Godman, who often descends into Hell to save the souls trapped there, before emerging from the bowels of the earth stronger…
  • On meetup.com sometimes there are free yoga in the park meetups, too. Of course, they are all an hour drive for me, but that's a different story.

  • You know there is an amazing amount of free stuff on youtube. Been streaming it to my TV with a Roku or Amazon Fire Stick. That said, I have done yoga off and on for many years. My all time favorite DVD is MTV Yoga. My second favorite is Mellow Flow Yoga with Janet Stone. I have a good collection of DVDs. The above two are…

  • > What about all of the fit, healthy people on this site who are successful at losing and maintaining weight on the "SAD" diet? Exception to every rule. I will say that exercise gives you some leeway with diet and health. That people are eating SAD in America and are "healthy" is debatable. Read Dan Buettner's Blue Zones.…
  • > Outside of a metabolic disorder. We have teens getting Type II diabetes. Metabolic disorders, exactly this. Heart disease, cancer, etc., all metabolic disorders. Alzheimer's equals Type III diabetes.
  • I haven't read it but it is just a variation of a Paleo diet. I just finished Go Wild, by John J. Ratey and really enjoyed it for the most part. Despite the disbelief and negative comments on here, if you use MFP you can see exactly the point paleo is trying to make. Log for a while and look at the things that are high…
  • I make my lunch my big meal of the day and any meat I eat is at lunch. That way, I appear normal. :) For breakfast and supper, 99% of the time I'm vegetarian. Now some days at lunch I am too. I've been an off an on again vegetarian for years. I really find that people hate it you are different from them. Just lightening up…
  • 10,000 steps = approx. five miles. I use Cardiotrainer and a mile is always roughly around 100 cals. 5 miles would be roughly 500 cals. Now this is with an average of 2.5 mph. And it also depends on your stride length. As I have stated multiple times, these are averages. But for Cariotrainer, a mile at 2.5 mph always…
  • If you have a slow cooker, this is like a Thanksgiving meal, and it is so easy. Made it a week ago, but everyone was out of butternut squash, so I used spaghetti squash. I liked it even better than the butternut. Put some flour on your face and people will think you slaved over this. :) 3/4ths cup of wild rice (recommend…
