  • 5'6.5" Started at 189lb, went down to 132, gained back to 160. I went to fast the first time. I'm trying to go a little slower this time. 135lb is my ideal. I look to thin in the face lower than that. (may also have been cause I went to fast). I think my frame is medium to wide. The wrist test doesn't work for me, it puts…
  • You definitely want to make sure the baby is getting enough nutrition. However the 2000 cal sounds like a very standard number and your circumstances are not standard. Is this your Obgyn or your family doctor who recommends this amount? (or are they the same person). See if you can get in with a doctor who specializes in…
  • I'm no stranger to messing up (BIG TIME) Just starting back fresh here myself. The big difference this time (and last time) is that MFP gets me back on track much more quickly and I have a much better understanding of why I was overweight in the first place. I used to lose 10lb, gain 20lb, lose 10lb, gain 20lb..see where…
  • krispy kreme original glazed donut. All the fancy donuts are great, but if you've never had krispy kreme, you have to try the glazed first. Do you have reese's in NZ? If not a reese's peanut butter cup. I know these are both snacks, but they are awesome and not available in all countries.
  • Just coming of a week long binge myself. One evening is nothing to worry about. Unless you are on a self imposed time frame for your weight loss, one evening won't even make a dent. If you don't want to get discouraged wait a couple of days before you weigh so the "extra" food will be out of your system and won't give you…
  • I set my target at 135lb. Thats what I weight when I was 20 and I was happy with the way I looked at that weight. It also happens to be right in the middle of my healthy BMI. I didn't really think I could make it until I got to 155lb. From there on it was more difficult but now that I'm almost on target I'm again pretty…
  • Like other posters, I used to bring in an extra shirt I changed into in the restroom before walking. A little freshening up and a fresh shirt do wonders after a walk.
  • People blocking my view when I'm trying to turn left at a stop sign. I've already been waiting my turn and then people turning right (there is NO right turn lane) keep rolling up and block my view so I can't see it's clear. WAIT YOUR TURN. I don't mind if I clearly have to wait and you take the opportunity to go ahead..but…
  • Are you allowed eggs? Boiled eggs are easy high protein for breakfast or snack. You can cook a whole carton and leave them in the fridge. Dry cereal is pretty good (high fiber kinds) and you can try almond milk or something like that.
  • Keep at it, you can do it! You made a great start with 8lb loss. From here on thing will get "funny". One week you won't lose a thing, then you'll gain a pound, then you'll drop 3lb etc. etc. Ones the initial big drop is over with, you will probably follow a downward wave pattern. Don't get discouraged by a slight increase…
  • OP has a thyroid problem and pre-diabetic. Some people with thyroid problems don't burn anywhere near as many calories in a day as most people of the same height/weight. If OP's thyroid is slow, it's very well possible 1200 cal is appropriate. ( if that's what the doctor recommended) Some people with thyroid problems do…
  • Don't let those jerks bring you down! Getting in shape is good, but those jerks will still be jerks when you're done, so don't do it for them. 20lb in 2 months is a lot. Just aim for a healthy calorie deficit and get moving! It may not go as fast as you would like but as long as you keep at it you'll get there!
  • Depending on how it's going before you order. If it's going well, don't order anything that will give you bad breath. Garlic and the like. If it's not going well.... Garlic it up! Other than that, I don't believe in pretense. Order what you would if you were eating out by yourself.
  • Chocolate! I didn't eat much of both for a while and definitely missed chocolate the most.
  • Heavy whipping cream with sugar free jello. I like making chocolate mouse this way. It's not low cal but there's no added sugar. There are 13g of carbs per serving in the jello. Arctic zero makes a low glycemic ice-cream. It's a little pricey but it shouldn't spike your blood sugar.
  • Boiled eggs. You can boil the whole carton and keep in the fridge for about a week for a quick snack. My daughter LOVES boiled eggs. She used to eat the eggs at Easter instead of painting them. Baby carrots. You can get a bag for about a dollar. Take some out for a snack. Honestly anything you cook at home with minimal…
  • Awesome!
  • I like that dress. Looks great on you! Awesome progress!
  • My weight goes crazy around that time. Up and down with a 5lb range (first 2 or so down, then 5 up from there). Sometimes I weigh, sometimes I don't. I don't log my weight until everything is over and done with for at least 3 days. Don't worry about it, look at the overall loss. I do tend to compare my weight with that of…
  • For me maintenance is harder. Almost there again, so we'll see how I fair this time. I'm an all or nothing kind of person, I don't do well with moderation. When I'm trying to lose, it's easy to cut down calories. Just say no to a lot of stuff and work out. It's simple. Maintenance on the other hand allows for more food,…
  • With that combination of joint issues I really can't recommend anything. Is the hypermobility ehlers danlos? Are you having joint pain/inflammation at the moment? Or are you considering lowering your BMI as a preventative measure? If your hypermobility is ehlers danlos, strength training can be good but also has to be done…
  • Fell off over the holidays and had to re-lose about 10lb. I guess that wasn't that much of a stumble. I'm calling it a "learning experience" of what not to do ones I hit maintenance. I basically did exactly what made me overweight in the first place, eating whatever I wanted without regard for portion size or number of…
  • I'm from the Netherlands but living in the US. My weight gain was of course me, but the move didn't help. US: Easy to eat out, high calorie food is cheaper/convenient compared to low calorie. Have to drive every where. Netherlands: Eating out is expensive compared to cooking. Fresh vegetables are not as expensive. Rode my…
  • I should be at goal at the end of this month. I'm going to get a nice outfit. I don't spend much on clothes in general, so I would like one, nice looking, coordinated outfit. Probably something impractical like a summer dress and high heels.
  • Depends on what you use it for. I like to use stevia (the leaf) in my tea. Makes sense to me, it's natural and it steeps with the tea. I don't like baking with sugar substitute. I haven't found anything that work for me.
  • If you're still looking for additional ideas. I drink a lot of tea. I like rooibos tea. It doesn't tend to turn as bitter. I also like to add stevia leaf to it (not the powder,..the actual leaf). We have a whole shelf full of tea ingredients at work and mix and match something different every day. Mint teas are good too!
  • I probably should, since a lot of them have sodium in them, but I don't.
  • Any downward movement on that scale is worth celebrating! Even .2lb will add up.
  • That's awesome progress! I can't blame my weight gain on my daughter. I gained most of it before I had her. The weight I did gain during pregnancy fell off, mostly, maybe 10lb of my total was left over from pregnancy. (this was almost 7 years ago) After a year on here I'm almost done. I hope the rest goes as easily for you…
  • Down to the last 5 or so,.. and yes, the last bit is much more slow, but not necessarily harder. I just have to have more patients.
