I had no problem racking the weights. The biggest is 45 pounds so I would double arm it and take it off the rack, even though there are signs up and people are supposed to unrack their own. But....I do know the intimidation. I was FAT and old in a place where I looked like an alien. I kept at it and now just a short few…

Thank you so much. Now I can show off my babies!

All other forums I'm on have you copy the IMG tag. I'm guessing this one is different by my failure up above.

Thank to all who adopt. I'm a mom to Jordan (doberman), Jubilee (boxer), and Bubba (blue cat) and my old man Siamese Zeus just passed away at home at almost 19 years old early Tuesday morning. I am also foster mom to many dogs and puppies, currently Roxanne (pit bull) and Adora (pit bull). I'm active in pit bull rescue…

WOW! You look amazing!

To me it looks like you have a very proportional body. Which is a good thing. It takes time, patience and work. The scale is going to lie to you, heck the mirror is going to lie to you. It lies to me every day. Take pictures and measurements of yourself and use them to judge your progress. If you ask me, I am about 25…

Yup add some jogging into those walks. My cardiovascular condition has improved tremendously, but jogging gets my HR going every time. Intervals actually help keep the calories burning after the workout has stopped, which is not true with steady state cardio where you burn what you burn during your cardio workout only.…

Definitely talk to your doctor first, and work with a trainer to get your form correct, but deadlifts have made my back pain virtually nonexistent and I have scoliosis, osteopenia, and work in a chair 9-10 hours a day. I keep my weights a comfortable weight and don't push it, keeping my form top priority. I get minimal…

I started strength training because of osteopenia and a strong family history of major osteoporosis in my family. Strength training does help slow bone loss at least, and build bone density at best. Limited cardio and defecit to also help maintain muscle (and bone) while I'm losing fat. It's a slower process, but one that…

The DOMS are temporary at best. I can almost promise you that you'll miss them. I get muscle fatigue, but DOMS rarely happen anymore. I will tell you the same thing I told my husband; protein, water, and activity. You want to rebuild what you damaged and keep blood flow going for healing. If you keep up with these 3 things…

I was going to say the same thing. I find that gaining muscle is I can't say easier, but FAST! due to the increased testosterone. I formerly lost 55 pounds doing all cardio on metformin and gained it all back, 60 pounds in 4 years. This time I'm off metformin but have the added hypothyroid. I feel like my PCOS is finally…

You realize she is probably losing about a quarter pound of muscle for every pound lost right? Think of how she'll look after a 20 pounds loss, losing 5 pounds of muscle in the process. She may be having the impressive weight losses, but when the race is over you are going to be the winner. You are transforming your body,…

You don't have to start lifting. You can chose any type of exercise you'd like. Resistance training does have it's advantages though, especially for women. You're not going to be young forever and eventually those bones are going to get softer (starts at the age of 30), which is the reason I started lifting. As far as your…

How old are your kids? You can find a gym with child care, mine is affordable, only 20.00 a month with child care included. Or, sign the kids up for something like martial arts. My daughter teaches 3 days a week and I started off going to the gym just while she was there. It is a half hour to her location so too far to…

I never realized how tired I actually was until after I got treatment. Looking back that was my main symptom. I also was cold all the time and itchy, again, both signs of hypothyroid. When I first tried to lose weight I worked out hard, counted every single calorie and stayed at 1200 and lost 3 pounds in 3 months, just NOT…

I'm a former WW lifetimer and loved it. Lost 55 pounds like it was nothing, but I did cardio only, no strengthening, and paid no attention to my macros. No wonder it all came back, minus about 3 pounds before I said this is enough. What I like about MFP as opposed to WW is that I'm tracking far more than just points…

Congrats on your amazing loss!

If you used your exercise in determining TDEE then log it as 1 calorie in MFP. I used my strengthening in my TDEE but not my cardio because it varies too much, so I don't eat back my strengthening, but will use my cardio calories if I feel I need them, depending on real hunger.

If you are vegetarian you still have a responsibility to give your body what it needs. It needs protein. Research your diet. Vegetarians can still get protein from non-meat sources. Quinoa, various beans, seeds, and peas, nuts, broccoli, greens, all have good protein. One of my favorite sides is black beans mixed with a…

This question is probably the question that bothers me the most. She didn't gain the weight by eating healthy, I'm pretty sure of this. I can answer this because this is me exactly. I have no problems eating over 1200 now, but when I first started it was a struggle, because you are transitioning from eating a couple…

Lol y'all. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I don't really feel bad at all. He had 180 on the bar, but I was watching closely from the squat rack because I had already missed out on one being open. While I was watching this bench for a good 10 minutes I saw the drink, the plates, and this guy walking around before I even…

This!! When you go from eating a half Totinos pizza and a burger you grabbed from fastfood on the way to or from driving the kids around to eating a day full of high protein foods for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks you are FULL! You are eating less calories, but eating them all day long. The first couple weeks I…

Most likely those last 10 pounds are going to be coming off slowly anyway, why not just go ahead and get started with the heavy weights and go from there? I have a LOT to lose, but I don't want to end up losing muscle so I started heavy right from the very beginning. It may take me a little longer to see the pounds go…

When I started lifting I thought no way would I be able to start with the 45 pound bar. Granted, I have no way to go lower to warm up when you start at the lowest, but I can do it!! All you can do is try it. Now, the one thing I cannot do with the 45 lb bar is the military press, so luckily my gym has preset barbells that…

I am sooooooo proud of you. You most definitely did save your life. In December we lost my husband's step mother after battling with complications from a gastrectomy procedure that she never even told anybody about until she was dying. She had infections one right after the other that left her hospitalized for months at a…

It ups your macros because it ups your calories, so depends on if you are eating back your calories or not. Basically, you don't want to go work out and fill in those calories with junk, so try to keep it in proportion with whatever percentage you have your macros set at.

I hope this is allowed here so if not please moderator delete, but I find the app jefit helpful. Sign up online and you can choose your workout or make your own according to what the trainer gives you and it syncs with your phone just like MFP. It keeps up with your workouts, reps, weights, etc, and gives you goals to…

I'm feeling a little better about my husband now. Mine is just clueless. My daughter made deviled eggs for a snack the other day and while I will eat eggs, especially egg whites, deviled eggs didn't fit into my diet that day. He came in my office while I was working and held the plate out with 2 on it and said, here I…

I remember after my first time losing 55 pounds after my daughter was born that somebody told me it takes about a year for your self image to catch up with your weight loss. You still see the same person in the mirror that you saw a year ago. I think this was true for me both losing and gaining weight. After I started…

Whenever I get the chance and the money. I used to as a young adult, and still do in my late 30s. I love seeing bands make it. I remember a lot I've seen locally where the crowd is 5 rows deep and next thing you know they are selling out their own tours, both local bands, and some that started off doing smaller…
