• Thanks all. For the record it's not TOTM (hubby & I have been trying for baby number 2 for over a year now without success). I weigh myself once a week (Monday) after going to the loo & without clothes on but also monitor it at other times through the week too, though only log on Monday's (& obviously Thursday's after I've…
• I've tried eating apples, pink lady for their sweetness, but I just don't like the texture. Noted re. dried fruit & calories per bag. Exercise is something I need to work on as I don't do it often enough. I spotted Leslie Sansone is doing a walk challenge from tomorrow for 21 days so I'm hoping to give that a go. Thanks…
• The 7 minute workout looks good, not sure I could do all of them but could certainly give it a try!
• My son's school is literally just across the road from our house! He does have his scooter to and from school, I usually just walk a bit faster to keep up. I already work on the top floor of my building, no other option than to use the stairs as it's an old building that no modifications can be made to as it's Georgian I…
• Thanks again SueInAz. I already park varying distances away from work though it's not intentional as it's usually difficult to park on a daily basis. I need to park relatively close as I only have a small amount of time to drive home to fetch my son from school. I think at least doing a few squats, lifting our 8kg medicine…
• I don't weight lift, haven't got the arm strength, upper body strength etc for that plus a bad back for over 20 years but thanks for your input SueInAz, I really appreciate it xxx
• I probably have a fair amount to lose really. Put it this way, according to my BMI I need to lose about 3-4 stone I think, might be more!
• Thanks Moyer566 xxx
• I am in the UK I can usually stay under my calorie intake though don't weigh my foods so things that aren't in packets as such, I.e. jacket potatoes etc are usually just roughly guessed for weight & calories.
• Awww, thank you all that's very helpful. I also recently found Leslie Sansone videos on hubby's Xbox but haven't done them for a little while. I usually tend to go to bed around 11pm & get up around 7am-ish. I've considered running but really could do with a sports bra as I'm pretty top heavy & find even jogging on my Wii…
• Thank you both. I know you can't spot reduce, the above are my main problem areas. I use myfitnesspal to log my food & track my weight, sadly exercise has always been my demon. I'd like to do more exercise but time & money are usually an issue for me - lack funds & I don't find the time in my day though I know I could fit…
• I can feel a general pulling in my calves at the back but no pain in my ankles. They are more puffy. I have always had good blood pressure when it's been checked at pill checks. I wondered if it was related to my weight & that I'm not used to.exercise/not fit. I have a sedentary job as a secretary.
• Thank you all for your posts xx
• Thanks both. I've heard of Jillian Michaels and Zumba is very tempting for me. I don't really have any friends so I'd have to build up some confidence to go to a Zumba class on my own, which is not easy for me. I'd thought of getting Zumba at home but some of the kits I've found seem quite expensive. We don't have a Wii…
• My son will be 3 in a few weeks time. Making a plan does sound like a good idea as that is something I tend to do already anyway. I'm usually trying to plan days if I've got things to do. I will try to start incorporating that, although at the moment my back is incredibly painful and is not great at all at the moment…
• Thanks for all the suggestions. They sound great. I will definitely look at trying something xx
• I've never cooked vegetables any other way than boiled - frozen veg or tinned usually.
• Thanks Annie and Sue. My son will be 3 next month. He takes after his mum in that he likes music so dancing to something round the living room could be a good idea for us both. My husband has also suggested recently that, because we tend to waste some bread each week for various reasons, why not walk to the canal nearby -…
• Biscuits at work are my breakfast but not until around 10.30am (I don't get up to give myself time for breakfast in the morning purely because I want more sleep and when I do get up I'm then busy getting food bags ready, getting myself and my son sorted to get out of the house by 8am). Dinner consists of either white bread…
• Thanks very much for the recipe ideas, they sound great. Flavours - sweet most of all, I love strawberries and don't mind peaches. I've tried different apples but can't get on with the texture of them. When eating vegetables I find I have to eat the veg with something like whatever meat or fish I have on my plate.
•
I'm sorry but saying "I'd get lost along the routes" is a really really poor excuse. You could always test out the routes on a weekend when you don't have to worry about getting lost, since you won't be under a time crunch. Do you have a phone that you can load maps up on? Or bring an old fashioned map with you in…
• I must admit I've thought about the race for life for the last few years but just never done it, partly due to my self esteem. I can't bare the thought of doing it alone (I don't really have a great friend network) and everyone looking at me but as I say I'm just very self-conscious. It gets in the way of so much but I am…
• Thanks for your response. Leeds is a very nice city but I don't live there, I just support the football team!
• Yeah, see, you know the answers! Have fun with your son. Do you smoke? I ask because that was 100% my nasty cough and breathlessness issues.
No to the smoking, never have, never will. There have been various coughs and colds in our family over Christmas and my son and I have just been sharing in a circle!
•
Your welcome, trust me you'll get some people with the whole tough love attitude on here (which I think is totally inappropriate and intimidating when you're finding your feet) they see it as a wake up call and don't realise they're being harmful in some cases as it is a huge lifestyle change, you don't need to be…
• Meant to say - someone had posted about me not being a good role model for my son - he's completely opposite to me and eats fruit and veg just like his dad, his favourite is cucumber and apples. He's forever running around and being a normal kid so gets 10 times more exercise than me - maybe I should take a leaf out of his…
• Thank you for this - it's not great to get rude and unhelpful comments from people, especially when I'm someone with low confidence already!!
• Thank you very much for your welcome and reply I have thought about cycling to and from work but it is difficult in that 1) I don't have a bike and 2) I only have a 30 min window to fetch my son who I have to pick up from his childminder and because she is a distance, albeit small, from me - about 10 mins drive, I don't…
• I think this is fun........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjduJjO1pLg&feature=related This is great because you can do it indoors, it takes very little space, and you go at your own pace.
Just seen a small section of this video clip and it looks good. Do you know if it's available on DVD in the UK at all?
• Congratulations on the weight loss xxx
