Only date people that lift. They certainly won't stand you up if the date's at the gym!

My BMR is 1300-something. I'm eating between 1200-1400 and fluctuating downwards nicely. I don't eat breakfast, I have a light lunch and only have a beer/soft drink with my full evening meal (otherwise it's water/tea), so it's been manageable. When I had my wisdom teeth out this month, I was on liquids only. It was in the…

I got free gait analysis at a running shop. Changed my life. The guy found things I would never have guessed. You don't have to buy the shoes recommended - you'll get lots of advice. And if it something more serious, that'd require medical attention, the running advisor should be able to spot that too.

From Web MD: "It's not proven to help prevent injury, curb muscle soreness after exercise, or improve your performance. Static stretching before exercise can weaken performance, such as sprint speed, in studies. The most likely reason is that holding the stretch tires out your muscles."…

Kettlebells are great for building your core. No crunches required!

^^THIS - Didn't log, ate and drank what I wanted, didn't lift, lost a couple of pounds. On returning to weights I 'gained' what I can only assume is water weight straight back!

I'm 5'4, been hovering around 134 for almost a year (though I've been strength training for the last two months) and also stayed at 32DD if that helps anyone at all...

Dammit - I was trying to be classy about it.

I think you mean Paula Radcliffe...

You can't build significant muscle in a calorie deficit, and 'weight loss' doesn't discriminate between fat and muscle - you'll lose both. Depends what your goals are, really. If your clothes are fitting better what's the problem? It sounds like you're eating at maintenance, with some newbie muscle gains. If you've managed…

Start taking measurements. Trust me on this.

It always takes me about a week to lose TOM bloat. I've only just started lifting a week ago and have been told not to bother weighing myself for at least two. And I started TOM at the same time as starting my new regime... Your muscles are repairing themselves after what may have been a long time, so just wait a couple of…

Yes. You've pretty much answered your own question there!

Aside from just breaking up... He's 45 and has only just discovered interval training - draw your own conclusions. He previously believed that long distance running was the only way to keep fit, despite my best efforts to open his mind to the joys of lifting heavy. Bodyweight exercise it is then. I can't be doing with the…

Thanks - I'll enjoy telling the BF that I'm being forced to work out like a serial killer in solitary confinement ;)

Thanks, BZAH10 - Will get on it. As for weighing food, I have a digital food scale which I do use. I was happily eating circa 1800 cals per day without putting on any weight for the last 10 years - I just seem to be stuck in the 132-134 range. Life's too short for 1200 cals per day - I'd rather up the intensity of my…

Start taking measurements. If you've lost 1.5 stone then the fat is coming off, just maybe not where you think.

Excuses, excuses! I'm a voiceover actor, my partner's a session musician. We both work from home a lot. I guess it depends if you allow yourself to have breaks - you can do a lot in under an hour. Enjoying the exercise you do is also vital for motivation/dedication. Good luck!

To build muscle you'll need to eat more than your maintenance calories and lift heavy. For muscle definition, i.e. to see the muscle, you'll have to get rid of some of the fat covering it, so eat less than your main calories. And lift heavy ;) Soreness usually means your muscles aren't used to what you're doing. Most…

The cellulite on the backs of my thighs and butt is no more!

From your pics you look like you're already in a healthy weight range. Perhaps cutting calories less aggressively would help? How much are you looking to lose per week?

Nuts, dressings, sauces...

Don't worry, you've got this. I have no idea what your goals are, so I'm going to say some very general things here. I've been here almost 160 days and my weight has stayed within the same 4lbs the ENTIRE TIME. I'm not overweight or unwell, so I'm not worrying about it too much. I'm starting to increase my resistance…

Seconded!

5' 4", seem to be maintaining within 1600-1800. Long story.
