Wow! That's impressive! Way to go!

Tried 2 new things, owing to this discussion. Put 85g of kale in my banana strawberry smoothie today. I like it better without the kale but this will be a part of my diet in the future because I like getting the serving of vegetables and it still tastes good enough. I also made a bean taco using a (soft shell) La Bandarita…

All the luck in the world cherrySue! Hope MyFitnessPal proves useful to you.

@Fit2btied2016 : I don't think I can blame life events for my weight gain; if I don't think about diet and exercise, I overeat and under-exercise. Tracking on MyFitnessPal helps me be more conscious of diet and exercise. Seeing that I have met my goals at the end of the day, is, each day that it happens, rewarding.

Wow! That is beautiful! Way to go! I got down to my goal weight of 165 lb, stayed under 170 lb for a year, and then thought I didn't need to track anymore. Eight years later, I was back up above my original starting weight, and now I am working my way back down to my goal weight. This time I plan to keep on tracking until…

I tried the egg bake cupcakes. I used 3 cups of frozen stir fry vegetables as the vegetable and included some leftover pork roast. With 4 eggs plus 4 egg whites, the batch made 14 of them. They didn't expand much so I could have fit them in 12 baking cups. I had 3 of them for breakfast this morning. I find them to be…

Angela, Regarding your original post, in particular the part about being discouraged about getting almost half your calories in the form of carbohydrates: I don't think this is a problem. Using the MyFitnessPal guided setup, I find that MyFitnessPal recommends 50% of my calories be from carbohydrates, 30% from fat, and 20%…

So now for the advice. 1. Use the MyfitnessPal guided setup to establish your daily goals. Enter your current weight and height as well as your goal weight. Select "sedentary" as your lifestyle, even if you are a postal carrier; this will help keep you on the safe side. Choose calories for tracking your energy and select…

Angela, Your nutritionist's advice strikes me as being right on. Keeping up on your protein intake serves two purposes: 1. It keeps you from feeling hungry. If you get 25-35 grams of protein with each meal, there is a good chance you won't be hungry all day. 2. It helps maintain your muscle mass. You want to lose fat, not…

First off, way to go @mfowler883 and @Lietchi. I really like the way you moved from weight loss to maintanence, @Lietchi. I am getting close to my goal weight, the transition and consistency your graph depicts is something to strive for; thanks for sharing. Here's what my first 180 days, with mostly once a week weigh-ins…

Thanks for the encouragement, @SteppingN2Life .

Wow! That is impressive! Love the gradual way you took it off; I think that is a very healthy way to lose.

The article linked to in the post just above disses protein supplements in the final paragraph, quoting a hospital assistant director of clinical nutrition as saying that older people should not drink protein shakes in place of meals as it will decrease protein intake over the long term; no evidence is given to back this…

Yeah. I don't think it automatically updates anymore if you are using a browser on a computer to access MFP, at least not with Microsoft Edge. You don't actually have to change the stlcker style to update it though. The following sequence works for me: 1. In MFP, in the first line of the page header toolbar, click on Apps.…

@rwecker5782 : You sent me a link to the abstract of the journal article entitled "Quality protein intake is inversely related with abdominal fat." Here is a link to the full text of the article: Quality protein intake is inversely related with abdominal fat To me, the interesting finding is that the timing of protein…
