Great Job

Congrats and Amen!

It is definitely possible! Once I was diagnosed with diabetes, I started by changing my diet and using MFP lost weight over the next two years. Saw my meds first cut in half and then as of April 2014 I was off all meds. I continue on maintenance and the gym 3-4 times a week for about an hour of mixed cardio and weights. My…

You have lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time so your skin has not had a chance to keep up. I started at 286 and have made it to 181. While I do have some loose skin, its not too bad. I am over 50 and did this over a period of two years. I have been a regular at the gym for the last 14 months mixing cardio and…

I like butternut fries. cut into fry sized pieces, toss into zip lock bag with a tablespoon of olive oil and garlic powder or salt/pepper. Bake until crispy. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bake-tastic-butternut-squash-fries-recipe.html

I have gone from 286 -> 181 and had a similar issue with people saying that I had lost enough weight. "Your not going to lose any more, right?" There were times that even I thought I did not look well when looking at my face in the mirror. But I was eating regularly, eating lean meats, with a mix of fruit/veggies and going…

Good luck in your journey, it looks like you are off to a great start.

Awesome

Since the last number you saw was 156 weeks ago, it could be that you actually went up. Now that you have weighed yourself again, you may have actually lost weight and just don't know it. Sounds like you are on the right track. Good Luck.

I would recommend adding some additional carbs to each of your meals and to continue testing your BG after meals to see how your body reacts. If my BGL does not drop back down to less than 120 after an hour, I drop that food from my routine and try something else.

Before losing the weight, I was always warm. Now being 100 lbs lighter, my hands are always freezing. I have added several layers just to be comfortable. I have even bought a thin pair of gloves to wear at the office. I bought a pair that was close to my skin tone to reduce the number of comments about wearing them. ps.…

Also understand that this is a process. You will learn things as you go. What I am doing today barely resembles what I was doing when I started. So allow your plan to change as you find what works for you.

Glad you could hit your goal and get an early Christmas present. Good Job!

High Five!

I went to a diabetes class and they had us test our bg and then go for a 10 minute walk. When we were done, we re-tested so we could all see that even a small amount of exercise had a direct impact on our glucose levels. I now do a quick walk around the parking lot at work around 10 and 3 each day during my breaks in…

Make sure your hands are clean (ie. no lotions etc). Also, sometimes I get a number that does not seem right so I test again to double check. The last time I did this my initial number was in the 50s. Since I felt fine, I tested again and it showed in the mid 80s.

I was able to do my first pull up at the gym last night!

Congrats on your progress and for keeping your head in the game. I have had a lot of the same struggles. You learn from the past and take what you have learned and move forward. Good Luck.

Great Job and thank you for paying it forward to help motivate the rest of us!

Agree with testing before and after so you can see how your workout is affecting your numbers. I recently changed my workout plan to go immediately after work and before dinner. I ate a greek yogurt with walnuts as a snack beforehand. By the time I got home, I was feeling shaky. Tested and I was at a 79. Had another snack…

"Accidentally" spill something on them (unless they are Hot Krispy Kremes)! You help everyone else too.

Over the weekend, my daughter's boy friend was looking at some of her facebook pics. In one she was in a group shot and he asked who they guy standing next to her was. It was me! I will remember that one for a long time.
