  • I believe that calling an INDIVIDUAL person dumb would be against forum rules, however making a general opinionated statement that PEOPLE (in general) are dumb is not only completley allowed but should be encouraged. Enough with censorship!!! Bring back our right to free speech!! (Completley off subject I know but had to…
  • 1% Large Curd Cottage Cheese with a little pepper.....the best!!
  • OK so "complicated" was not the correct word to use...how about expensive and really unessecary unless you happen to be and olmpic athlete or marathon runner...lol
  • As for your formula...I plugged my numbers in a got a VO2 max of 46.23 which is pretty much right on as for what I use. I always use 45 in the brayden formula.
  • I also use that site to calculate my calorie burn, however I do not know my exact VO2 max. And from what my doctor tells me its very complicated to exactly measure ones VO2 max. So...what I do is use the average VO2 max for someone in my age/fitness category. Here is a link that gives the averages....hope it helps. BTW my…
  • The ONLY way I have been successful is by weighing my food. When I stopped and tried to "eyeball" it I gained. Obessive it may be but look at the alternative. (^_^)
  • I use the recipe builder. It works great because you can put in how many portions and it will give you the data for the whole recipe as well as per portion. All you do in enter each ingredient then save it. I love it because it saves all your recipes and it makes it quick and easy to put into your diary. Especially if it's…
  • I say change your doctor. Your doc should be every bit as supportive as any of the other members of your support system. If your doctor can't seem to find the time and/or inclination to take YOUR health and well being seriously then dump 'em!! Find a doctor that will support your lifestyle.
  • I would start by NOT taking a "rest day"...instead of resting go for a 30 minute walk, or do yoga or some other stretching. This way your body still recovers but you get your mind out of the "rest day" gutter. Hope I helped.

  • Unless you have or or prone to kidney disease therer are really no adverse reactions to eating more than the reccomended amounts of protein. With that said I would still try to keep your protein calories at 50% or under of your daily calorie goal. For instance if your cal goal is 1200 then the most protein you would want…

  • Any workout that you are doing should include a cool down time. I always stop my HRM after the cool down time. By then I am always out of my zone and my heart rate has dropped. Hope that helps.
  • Start by either soaking in cold water for 4-6 hours (or you can quick soak by covering with 3" cold water, put on stove on high just until bubbles start, before complete boil. Remove from heat and cover, let stand for 30 mins drain and rinse) the purpose of soaking is to remove any pesticides as well as the chemicals that…
  • My veggies are in the form of meals that I prepare using the recipe builder. For example: My spicy veggie and bean soup is loaded with black beans, cabbage, mushrooms, bell pepper, jalapeno, onion, and celery. Lots of veggies. As for the processed foods...I have cut back on those, was using them for convience. Thanks to…
  • I tried it but couldnt get myself to stick with it. Seemed a little mundane to me. I think P90X shows more results.
  • also if your using psyllium seeds it is better to "bloom" them in water before ingesting...this way you know exactly whats going in whereas if you just take them then they bloom in your belly...hence the bloated feeling.
  • I eat canned pears and peaches with cottage cheese all the time. I just make sure I get the ones in extra light syrup and then I drain the liquid. I think fruit is fruit...although obviously fresh would be better I see no reason not to count it as fruit.
  • I have found that the Wii Fit scale is very accurate. I have both and they both give me the same number with the exception that my bathroom scale also gives me tenths of pounds, but the Wii Fit scale is always accurate within .5 pounds. I would trust it until such a time as you can get a regular scale.
  • There are no such "catabolic" foods, ie: negative calorie foods. ALL food has calories, and ALL calories will add up at the end of the day.
  • Some day my Sharks will pull their heads out of the @$$'es and do something in the playoffs!!! With that said...go Boston!!!
  • I have Wii Fit and Wii Fit plus and both have activities that are fun and challenging. I would recommend using a HRM instead of taking the games word for amount of calories burned however. Wii Fit has strength training, aerobics, yoga, and balance games.

  • If you like fudge bars then I recommend Healthy Choice. They are delicious, only 100 calories, 2 grams of fat and only 11 grams of net carbs only 5 of which are sugar. They also have 4 grams of protein. For me these beat any ice cream treat out there.
  • sashimi is great with just a super thin slice of lemon...pure protein
  • I've dropped 120 lbs so far and for me it seemed as if the first 80 came right off then I hit a plateau where the next 20 took what seemed like forever!! Then I started P90X and then the next 20 came off pretty quick! Not trying to be a salesman here but.....I think an exercise program similar to P90X or Insanity combined…
  • It was'nt today but I logged 3/4 of a container of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream the other day. I was still under for the day but I made a note to myself that Ben and Jerry are NOT my friends. lol (^_^) (Also I had to do a little bit more cardio that day to get under for my calories)
  • Thanks everyone!!! Great information. As for logging the exercise in MFP I use a heart moniter so I know exactly how many calories I've burned and then I pick a comparable exercise in MFP and use it. I just match the minutes to my actual calories.
  • I agree...as long as your getting everything you need then who cares? If your not bored and you have a balanced diet then go for it!!
  • Thanks linzi. That workout sounds great. Almost like the circuit training I'm doing but without the weights. Thanks everybody.
  • Yes they are grams. Everything in MFP is in grams when it comes to fiber and protien. Although I think if you research it you will find that your fiber intake is a little low. As for high fiber and high protien foods, well good protein sources have always been eggs, lean meats, soy, and nuts. As for fiber the highest fiber…
