Calories are calories. BUT going over is going to happen occasionally...with that said...if you are gonna go over, do it with veggies or fruit. :)

I "heard" if your going over calories (especially if its late at night, or before bed)....that eating something that's not going to put you over very much, and something low in carbs is best (because anything high in sugar will convert to fat right away especially if your going to bed right after eating them). So I would assume veggies is the best alternative if your still hungry and low on calories.

Like the others said: Late at night a veggie-soup would be a much better choice than a chocolate bar, even if it had the same amount of calories (which probably is NOT so) ;-)

When you're going with WW, raw fruit of raw vegetables do not count at all. Fact is, that you almost burn more calories eating a cucumber than you take in with it.

You can't go wrong by eating a lot of veggies and fruit and it takes a LONG time to fill those calories that way!!! Just don't go waaaaay over your limit.

Well I'm thinking alot on the whole "negative calorie" concept.I know the calories still count.but your body is going to burn that off.so wouldn't it be okay to eat endless amounts of fruits and veggies in the "negative calorie"food list?

If you are in a calorie surplus, it doesn't matter if the surplus comes from a candy bar or from 12 servings of vegetables. It's still a calorie surplus, which will have negative effects on your weight loss. Certainly vegetables are your better choice. And the difference between the two is the health benefits (vitamins and minerals etc.). And don't buy into the notion of negative calorie foods. If the food has calories, eventually you can eat enough of it to go into calorie surplus.

How many people here got overweight (fat) from too many "naked" baby carrots? A show of hands, please?

Personally, I'm overweight because all my ancestors were hard working farm people who lived on cabbage water that pig walked through and if I have any expectation of losing weight, I have to eat extremely healthy, whole foods whilst literally working my dupa off. I can't eat an typical American diet, my genes don't respond well to it.

If you're hungry, veggies are better than brownies. If you're hungry all the time, then perhaps you need to look at what you're eating. Are you eating whole and healthy with enough complex carbos, lean protein, and enough fiber (25+ grams a day)? And don't forget the water consumption either. (My biggest failing point.)

I dont think any fruits are negative...as much as everyone thinks you can eat endless fruit because its, well, fruit....you can't Fruit has sugar...now its the good sugar but it's still sugar. I mean, an apple has about 100 calories in it. Banana, the same, if not more. That adds up. With that said, if you are GOING to eat and be over may as well be a veggie or fruit in moderation.

There are no such "catabolic" foods, ie: negative calorie foods. ALL food has calories, and ALL calories will add up at the end of the day.

I cant imagine anyone ever going over on the calorie goal with veg. I'm vegetarian and I eat tons of veg and don't even come close.
