  • I've read that your body gets used to steady state cardio and you'll stop seeing results, that's why I do intervals, probably wrong but they work for me, I do 3 minutes on, 1minute rest, but my 3 on are always different. Sometimes I start high then work slower till I get to rest, sometimes I do pyramids, sometimes low then…
  • Here's a question, are you subtracting your exercise calories from calories ingested? Is that 1200 calories before or after exercise? Remember your net calories has to be above a threshold amount or your body goes into starvation mode. More than likely you're not eating enough.
  • It's like apples and oranges, they're both good for your health ;)
  • Don't listen to anyone's judgments, you're making the decision for you. In no way, shape, or form is this the easy way out and the only people who think so are ones who have NO idea what a person who has this surgery goes through. You've made a decision that will change your life. Be proud of that and embrace the change.…
  • I've got 130 pounds to lose so I understand where you're coming from. I started South Beach on February 9th and work out religiously and so far I've lost 12 pounds. Not everything that works for one person works for another, but since I've tried everything (almost literally) I can tell you I haven't been hungry on South…
  • That is SO FANTASTIC! And I LOVE your signature, I'm going to have to change it to make it a mantra, Zombies Don't Drink Milkshakes. :D
  • Honestly, this is something that a lot of people deal with, for a variety of reasons. I myself was molested as a child, and after many, many hours of therapy realized that being fat was a way to keep men from looking at me, thereby keeping anything bad from happening to me again. I'd say try to look inside and find out why…
  • Speaking as a diabetic, you're unfortunately wrong. I've tested myself before and after diet drink consumption and it did not cause my insulin to spike, actually, didn't raise it hardly at all. As far as whether or not it makes a difference in your weight loss people can come up with studies showing both sides. Frankly, I…
  • Welcome! I think you'll find this is a really supportive place. I, like a lot of us, have been through all the different steps (WW, the cabbage soup diet, ugh, etc) and finally just accepted that there's no magic bullet, but the bullet must be bit in order to move forward, if that makes sense! Anyway, this place is…
  • I did Zumba 3 days this week, the long one, not the 20 minute one. I rewarded myself by buying new sneakers so now when I do Zumba my feet won't hurt (as much, anyway). And decided that making a really delicious protein shake at the end of a great workout is the best treat! I got a new blender and it works so well I can…
  • That seems to be the consensus. :)
  • I was just wondering the same thing myself. Frankly, I don't understand why it's saying my fiber intake is so low. Honestly, I'm diabetic and the more fiber I can get the better, it has a negating impact on carbs, which are, of course, a diabetic's enemy. Any ideas on that?
  • I'm with ya! I logged that butter, didn't I? Yeah, I did!
  • That website, while chock full of information, went nowhere towards making me feel warm and fuzzy about Hydrogen Peroxide therapy. If this information was on any site other than this site I've never heard of maybe it might make a difference. I'd say don't worry about using it in any other application except topical.…
  • Figured that but was curious. Thanks!
  • Riot by Three Days Grace has a serious build that makes you really push it during the chorus. Good stuff. Strangely, and I hate myself for it, I love working out to abba. Shoot me. =) I use a program called Mixmeister BPM Analyzer, you drag and drop your songs into it and it analyzes beats per minute. Really helps to keep…
  • Hmm, the only ticker I know of on here is the weight one, but you can probably find something online, I know there are other sites that make different tickers and you can get their code to use on here. Good luck. :)
  • I had a non Polar wrist unit that was awful. I bought the Polar F6 and love it. I know you were looking for a non Polar alternative but problem is most people have them. I know a few people with Garmin units who love them, I just didn't have the money, it was way more expensive than the one I bought. Anyway, good luck.
  • Hey, sorry, what I meant was in Europe, especially France, they eat their salads last because the fiber in the lettuce takes a long time to digest, leaving you fuller longer. As for the tea, it's more about finding what you like, tea is mainly water so you're still getting your water intake for the day, in a more delicious…
  • I heard about these a while ago in connection to helping lower blood sugar as I am diabetic. Never noticed any difference, in either my blood sugar or appetite.
  • Sounds like you're eating good food but I might suggest trying more fiber. Have you ever tried fiber pills? I know they have fiber powder you can add to food and things. This along with more water will definitely fill your stomach longer. I love salads and try to eat them at the end of my meal European style because the…
  • Welcome! This is a very friendly place and you'll find a lot of very useful information and very helpful people. And congrats on the impending nuptials! Good luck with the skinny dress! :)
  • I've only done one in person class and loved it, I have the DVD's and they're fun, at least I can look like an idiot with no one watching! ;)

  • Thank you! That's the example I was looking for. Makes much more sense now. Thank you again to everyone who replied, I appreciate it! :)
  • That's what I thought, too, just wanted to make sure! Because I do have some things I use and love and would love to pass on, all free, btw, but don't want to run any risks, you know? Btw, I really do LOVE this site. Having people to keep me on track is fantastic! =)
  • I've done the P90 Ab Ripper 100, definitely a good start. Zumba does amazing things for your abs, I was sore in places I'd never felt before. If you're eating right and doing your cardio doing an ab routine can only help, I think what everyone else is trying to say is that an ab workout alone isn't going to get any…
  • I have an F6 that I'm very happy with. I love that you can transmit the info from the unit to their website so you don't have to manually input anything. And I just read the user manual and even though it is coded it does say not to be within 3 feet of another unit. Good thing I work out at home! :)
  • I wish my floor allowed me to exercise with no shoes, I'm in the process of refinishing and right now I have an old tile floor that needs to be replaced, lots of broken bits. I found the steadiest place to work out on.
  • I've tried the kind that goes on your wrist and the chest strap version. I recommend the chest strap for two reasons, one it is definitely more accurate, and two, it gives you a continuous reading, whereas the wrist reader you have to press a button or a sensor for it to read your pulse. I have a Polar as well though not…

  • Great idea! I'll have to try that! Thanks! :)
