I've read the post but I'm still not 100% sure what they mean. It's it saying "I use XYC" or "Buy XYC"? I worry about saying the wrong thing and getting the boot!

We can get in trouble for suggesting things that we like to our friends? That doesn't seem right. I understand they don't want to have any advertisements on here. But if i really like a certain weight loss products shouldn't I be able to tell my friends how great it is and that they should use it too?

I think that if you're basically saying what you use and/or reviewing it, as long as you're not making any money out of it, it's not advertising.

    That's reasonable.

From the "sticky" thread about the advertising policy, posted by Mike (MFP founder):
If you truly love and feel passionate about a product, it's completely fine to talk about it and endorse it as long as you do not do so in a manner from which you might financially benefit.

That's what I thought, too, just wanted to make sure! Because I do have some things I use and love and would love to pass on, all free, btw, but don't want to run any risks, you know?

Btw, I really do LOVE this site. Having people to keep me on track is fantastic! =)

I have posted many times about about my HRM...asking questions about it and I was asking for advice as to which one to purchase before I got it. I never got any of my posts deleted. I just don't think you can advertise something for monetary gain. For example, I saw a lady that kept advertising her ebay stuff on here...and another that was advertising some sort of cleanse that even had the link to the website. She was a vendor for it and trying to market it on here. That is the kind of stuff I think they are talking about.

That's just what I'd go on if I were one of the forum moderators here. If the post is giving the hard sell, saying that people should buy something because it's great and blah, blah, blah, then it's an advertisement. If it's an honest review by someone to give information then it's not.

Of course it's down to the individual moderator exactly what criteria they use to decide.

Thank you! That's the example I was looking for. Makes much more sense now.

Thank you again to everyone who replied, I appreciate it! :)
