  • March 2011: Last Saturday: Ran my first 1/2 marathon! Finished in 2:08:36. No world record but beat my training time by 7 minutes so a personal record!!
  • If you really have had enough you can change your life!! This coming Sunday is the 1 year anniversary since I decided I had had enough. I was 41 and weighed about 245-250 lb. My feet hurt all the time, I had headaches all the time and I basically felt like crap all the time. In the last year I've lost over 70lb, went from…
  • Probably more out there then people realize!
  • Almonds are a superfood! Eat them, just account for the calories. I like pistachios too. I've decided that I like salted 1000x better than unsalted so that's what I buy now. Salted nuts are the only thing I buy that aren't reduced or no sodium added (where available) so I don't feel too bad for buying the salted nuts. lol
  • I like my Fitbit as I like to track daily activity. But I often forget to wear it or if I change pants or even change at the gym will forget to change it to whatever I'm wearing. It has also fallen off several times. One review I read before I bought it said "You will lose this thing". I always think about that when it…
  • I'm going to Belize in 6 weeks!! Very good snorkeling there. But I would love to go back to Roatan as well. Best snorkeling I've done was in Roatan and I've been a lot of places snorkeling. Now that I am scuba certified I really need to get back there, but Belize is up first!
  • I have a reoccurring calf injury from running I'm trying to get past so I have been doing 15% incline and 3mph on the treadmill in place of running. It gets my heart rate way up there but doesn't seem to be "hard". I like it!
  • Mine was 240 and I just got a new one a month ago so I could change it to 180 and get a new picture even though it didn't expire until 2014. Now I've lost 5 more and weigh 175 and once I get to my final goal of 170 I may just do it again. haha..
  • I lost 70lb and have a little excess skin around my stomach. Went from 44 inch waist to 31 (pant size anyway) starting last April. But I'm not planning on entering any speedo contests so I'll just live with it, keep up my exercise and eating right and if it gets better great and if not so be it. I look damn good now either…
  • Nice work! I ordered a new license a couple months ago since it listed my weight as 240lb and I was 180. Plus I didn't look like my picture anymore. lol. Now I'm 175 so maybe when I hit my final goal of 170 I get another one! haha
  • I'm 41 and went from full time couch potato to best shape of my life this year! And that is not exaggerating. I was never athletic, even in high school, until this year. Over 40 is where it's at!! :D
  • No it doesn't have to be a Droid. I have a Sensation 4G. App work pretty good I think.
  • I'm looking forward to eating more calories when I'm doing maintenance instead of the deficit while I try to lose the last 5-7lbs!!
  • I'm going to the gym on Friday and Saturday! I have now lost 70lbs this year and lost 1.7lbs over the last two weeks and set a new low today. I hit my "realistic" goal today of 175lbs and I am going to push to hit 169.9 now. That will be my OMG I can't believe it goal! The holidays are not going to set me backwards and I'm…
  • I have a shaker bottle and make mine the night before when I make the rest of my lunch. Works fine for me!
  • I've lost 68 lbs and have been using some weight training along the way. I've still been losing weight because I've been maintaining a calorie deficit. I have more definition in my upper body especially and my arms are probably slightly larger but not resulting in lbs of muscle being gained (and added to my weight). I…
  • You're making me feel BAD! I started in April and have only lost 68lbs so far!! lol Started at 245 and today set a new low at 177lb. But I just had to say NICE JOB! That is a big change in a short amount of time! I wear a photo ID at work as well. It doesn't get looked at too closely by anyone so I'm keeping it as a…
  • 2 questions I'll never ask a woman. How old are you and when are you due!
  • My feet hurt ALL the time! I am standing or walking a lot at work for a 12 hour shift. Even on my days off my feet hurt. Pain is a motivator. I went on vacation the beginning of March and had two weeks to think about things. Decided it was time to make a change. 2 weeks after getting home it was out with the old and in…
  • tracking calories consumed and exercised is key and this site makes it easy! Since I've lost 65 lbs I have people at work asking me about it of course. I sort of chuckle (to myself) cause a lot of them like to talk about how they eat healthy and not that much and so on and so on. I tell them all about MFP and that I think…
  • When I first started I tried to wait for once a week but just couldn't, I would want to how I was doing after working out/eating right, etc. So then I would weigh myself at random times on various days and it was all over the place. So when I would be up I'd get discouraged. Then I started to weigh myself every morning…
  • Thanks! I really think I need to try zig zagging calories and see what happens.
  • I spray it with fake butter and then a dash of no salt.
  • I started the end of March with the focus being my 18 night cruise from Venice to Ft Lauderdale coming next month! I think a cruise is a good thing to use to focus on. It's a specific date you can set your goals to work towards and you can think about how much fun you're going to have after all the hard work! I was like…
  • That I could not do! I don't care for the fries there but a burger I could not pass up! Tremendous will power you have!!! I'm just glad the closest location to me is a good distance away so I'm not tempted!
  • I work a 12 hour shift and do a lot of walking but not lifting or carrying too much. I set my activity level to 'lightly active' on my work days.
  • I wish I had a pattern like that! I'll stay the same for awhile then maybe go up a couple then drop 4 one week. I don't have a pattern so I just try and keep focused and know that if I keep doing what I'm doing I'll drop again eventually. I'm about 12-13 lbs from my goal so it's getting harder now.
  • You can do it!!! I started in April 245lb and never a runner. Did 1/4 mile @ 4.5mph and thought I was going to die. Last Saturday I did my first official 5k and finished in 27:55 (down to 186lb too). Being signed up is a great idea! Gives you a goal to focus on and to be ready for that day. I did that for my 5k and this…
  • haha...I'm about to find out the answer to that 2nd question. Since I didn't really start until April and that was on the treadmill I don't know yet about winter. But I live in MN and it will be winter soon enough! I wish I could say my inspiration was something profound, but actually it was my feet hurt ALL THE TIME! And…
