  • Feel free to add me, I'm in the same boat looking for additional support and motivation! Good Luck!
  • 41 is NOT too old! I was a stay at home mom (QUITE overweight) and once my children were school age I needed to find part-time work. At 39 years old I became a group fitness instructor, starting with Spinning then eventually adding my Group Exercise certification and teaching free-style classes such as High Intensity…
  • I'm misplaced from Houston as well, currently living in a Maryland suburb of Washington DC. My roots are still firmly planted in TX!
  • I can't imagine eating 1200 and burning 1000...I would starve!! I'm currently injured and not working out as much as I used to, but still eating 1881 calories per day! Feel free to add me!!
  • Has anyone tried Seasons 52 in Montgomery County MD? I'm thinking of trying that one.
  • I've used several protein powders, all whey based that I really like! My favorite is Big ***** Formula that can be ordered online at www.big*****formula.com. It comes in GREAT flavors. I've also tried Gladiator protein that can be purchased from Smoothie King, Trader Darwin's Whey Protein from Trader Joe's and 365 Whey…
  • My parents and my sister did this diet. They ALL lost weight, but once they stopped all the weight they lost PLUS more came back, FAST.
  • Welcome to the MFP Family! Good Luck!

  • From past experience I have learned that you need to eat at least 1/2 of the calories you burn during exercise. There was a time during my journey that I wasn't eating them at all and I stopped losing weight. On the flip side of that, I have also heard that if your activity level is VERY high, you should east most of your…
  • I used to workout in the early mornings and would eat an apple before I left the house and sometimes (depending on how hard I would be working out that day) a protein shake in the car on the way. Good Luck! Let us know what worked for you!
  • I've made a GREAT protein shake with coffee. 8 oz. cold coffee 1 tbsp peanut butter 8 oz. Unsweetened Almond Milk 1/2 scoop protein powder (I use Big ***** Formula Cake Batter flavored...no need to sweeten any more than that) Blend and enjoy!!
  • That's Awesome! Keep Going!!
  • I absolutely second what she said! I was heavy ALL my life until I had children, then I made the decision to get HEALTHY for me, my husband and my boys. I know I'm never going to be skinny, but I'm so much healthier now than I've ever been. I'm still going along on this journey, and not yet at my goal, but this is the…
  • Welcome! I've been on for a few weeks, and it has been very helpful!
  • I'm a fitness instructor, so my workouts are based on my classes. Unfortunately, all of my workouts are after breakfast, as I spend the mornings with my kids getting them ready for school. I have noticed, though, no matter when the workout, I'm still VERY hungry after. I do drink a protein shake after my workouts (or even…
  • Good Luck! It's been helpful for me so far.
  • I felt exactly the same way when I first tried spinning. Now, I love it so much, I'm an instructor. The one thing you must do, is go to the instructor and ask for help setting up your bike. You want to make sure you're positioned correctly so that you don't injur youself. Then, take the first class at your own pace, and…

  • I would love to give you advice, but I am in the same boat! I lose inches WAY faster than pounds. I had been about the same weight for a year (after losing 80 lbs.) and started tracking inches. I found that my weight stayed the same, and my inches started decreasing. To add to that, I was tracking my Body Fat %, which was…
  • If this is an exercise that you've been doing consistently over a long period of time, your body is getting used to it AND getting fitter, which is why you're not seeing the same HR. As a fitness instructor, my HR doesn't get as high as it used to in the classes that I teach on a regular basis, so I try to make time to do…
  • I feel your pain...it seems like these days that's the ONLY body part getting smaller!
  • Welcome!! I have just started using MFP again after using Livestrong and previously WW! I do love the encouragement and motivation I get here! Good Luck on your journey!!
