Personally I try to not drink home alone because social drinking has fun benefits that are worth it to me, drinking home alone tends to expand in quantity and frequency, has fewer benefits, and can get tied into depression/anxiety. Absolutely nothing wrong with drinking at home alone if it works for you.

Set your weight loss to .5lbs/week and you should be able to hit that goal in 2.3 years. That gives you an extra 8 months or so of margin: holidays, slower weight loss towards the end etc. You could set it to a pound a week at first if you want, but no need to reduce calories that much to hit your goal! Here are a couple…

Sodium doesn't affect most people and I'm one of them, so I actively avoid the low sodium versions. I make big batches of protein: marinated chicken breast, ham, steak, pork... and freeze 3oz baggies. Sometimes I do the same with veggies especially when its farmers market season. Sautee up a big mixed batch to just…

Sooooo.... This has been a whirlwind week! Monday a recruiter cold messaged me, talked to them that afternoon, found out that several old coworkers are there and they put in a good word, skipped straight to the final tech interview yesterday afternoon, and was having a final negotiation conversation a couple of hours…

Went out for several hours and had a single beer. I felt really good about that choice. Maybe even more proud of sticking to one than I would have been staying completely AF, particularly if I'd just stayed home and avoided. Got up early and got a run in. This evening is buckle down and get resumes out time!

I love that you didn't lose the moment trying to take a picture of the dolphin. What a lovely beach pic. Let us know if the 5 cal margs are any good. I am....suspicious.

Double check the exercise calories that MFP is giving you and be real about the exercise you are logging vs the activity level you put in. If you put "moderately active" and then log every walk, for instance, then you are double dipping. MFP wants to give me over 20 calories a minute for running 6mph LOL when most other…

@globalhiker and @MissMay Hugs to you both. Losing someone is never easy.... Mom got her chip yesterday and is leaving rehab today! I'm really impressed by her open and honest attitude. So cool to talk to my MOM again, and not the stranger she's been for years. 9/1 AF skipped my usual drinking day 9/2 A (4 drinks/5.3SD)…

I use a dry bag belt around my hips and tucked into my bottoms so it doesn't flap and annoy me. Works for me when traveling/backpacking alone https://www.amazon.com/blue-sky-BASICS-Waterproof-Pouch/dp/B00X9XVHPW/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=dry+bag+belt&qid=1630613460&sr=8-4 I like the idea of the buoys if there could…

@ahoy_m8 and @lmlmrn You know, thats interesting. Sometimes AF substitutes, I have a cabernet and and IPA that I really like, help me with cravings and give me something special to drink especially with friends, but on the break after a period of really drinking too much, they made the cravings worse. Avoidance/redirection…

Mom gets out of rehab next tuesday. Got these for her as a congratulations gift. 5 brands, 34 flavors, 124 cans...Hopefully of something she can be safely excited about drinking! I know that she likes a few of these so this way she can try almost every flavor without getting a big pack and then not liking it. What do you…

Awesome job! Nice smile too  Support is fantastic, but you put in the changes and hard work.

@MissMay I hope the pup is doing better! I can't imagine coming home to that... @lmlmrn was it worth it? Because sometimes pizza and beer is totally worth it 😛 @Womona thank you for the good wishes! Also I really relate to the "less" is the important part not necessarily AF days. I've had a lot of AF days this month, but…

Streak: 18 days AF (22/24 august) Hmmmmm...what should I have for my first celebratory drink? 🤞🤔 Thanks @spygirl2014 and @lmlmrn I think it will go well, but impostor syndrome is a dirty word. I'm calming down as I get more prepared and the videos I found to review are absolutely just that: review, not Greek. Ok a little…

omgomgomgomg Less than 24 hours until my presentation and less than 72 until my interview! Starting to seriously stress out. This job would get me back to my friends and family w/cheaper rent, probably be a ~35% pay raise, more vacation, better benefits, and hopefully more fulfilling/fun. I think I'll get it, but I'll be…
