From what I found, the following affect your metabolism: 1) Muscle tissue (you already know why this is on the top of the list) 2) Meal frequency (the longer you go between meals the more your metabolism slows down to conserve energy) 3) Activity level (important but doesn't make any difference if you don't match your…

I didn't read your thread (& perhaps I should before responding) but since I've had a similar experience, I feel I can go ahead & speak on it. I totally agree with you. Everyone should know that there's a difference between being blunt & being rude. Blunt: "You're eating too much sodium, this will make you retain water &…

Geez, I think you should just chalk it up to a loss. That's too much to try to consume in one sitting or so late at night. Next time, skip the workout.

Yes, hot tea helps when I'm hungry AND when I'm craving something sweet. I use Splenda to sweeten. I order from teaforte. They are kind of expensive, but their tea is delicious. My favorites are Citrus Mint, African Solstice & Orchid Vanilla.

Japanese & Chinese foods are some of the worst when trying to eat low-calorie (except for maybe Italian). Sushi isn't bad for you, but it is high calorie, probably because of the rice & how many pieces (or rolls) are required to actually get full. Anyway, you didn't mention whether this place is Hibachi or not, but if…

Going to get some veggies today. I need to find recipes I think because there are only a few I like & I don't want to get bored.

Thanks to everyone who is actually providing feedback instead of (not so) witty retorts that might discourage a more sensitive person from engaging in the message boards. We are on here to encourage & motivate one another, or so I thought. Anyway, thanks genieangel. Again, I know there's no miracle drug & as with any…

Wow, I didn't know he was such a quack. I've never watched a full episode, but have seen tons of snippets & didn't know if it was all hoopla. Of course there's no miracle drug & nothing works for everyone, but if hunger (which is my issue) is about brain chemistry, surely something can help. Oh well.

I think that's the problem. The rest of my life requires so much focus, structure & discipline that monitoring my diet feels like too much. I know there's no miracle drug, I'm just looking for something that will make it a little easier. :ohwell:

I'm with you. I fell off the wagon a few years ago after dropping 50lbs. I'm tired of feeling fat & self-conscious. Let's get it together, together :)

Heard about it on Dr. Oz. I also compiled a list of other weight loss supplements from him. I'll post.

Down 1.2 this week

Down 2lbs

I think I'm doing pretty well. Even though I said that there were no foods I'd be able to stay away from until July, I have greatly decreased my intake of these foods. I got off to a rocky start, but I have been very focused lately. Feeling pretty good.

I thought I posted, but I see it's not here. Anyway, down 4 lbs!

Okay, since it's been warm where I live, I've been wearing a lot of dresses. Tried to put on a pair of slacks that were tight, but I still could fit into, about 2 weeks ago . . . can't even wear them. Depressed

I don't think I can totally avoid anything, but the things I need to consume in more moderation are Chocolate Cheese Alcohol (only about twice a week, but I know how detrimental it is to weight loss because of how your body metabolizes it. Plus for me, it lowers my eating inhibitions so I tend to consume junk when I drink).

Me either :frown:

Agreed. And stop weighing yourself every other day. Weigh yourself no more than once a week at the same time each week (best when you 1st get up). This will be give you a more accurate picture of your weight.

Stress. I work a LOT, so by the end of the day or by the weekend, I'm just completely tired of trying to count, manage, monitor, or be in control of anything. Beginning next week, I've planned to cut my workload back so that I can focus more on myself though. We'll see how that goes!

Hi. I'm AJ, a 34 year old newlywed & mother of a precocious 9 year old boy. Several years ago, I got tired of being fat, & gradually went from 215 (size 16) to 185 (size 10). In 2008, I ramped things back up & went down to 165/170 (size 8) & maintained the loss for about 2 1/2 years. Unfortunately, in the last year, I've…
