Hi all I'm just starting for January!! :O Used to run a lot but haven't much in the past few years so I'm setting a weensy goal of 10 miles - did 2.5 on 1/21!

Cross training, strengthening exercises (like calf raises) to help all the muscles in your lower leg, and lots of rest. There's no real "treatment" for them unfortunately, but I agree with all the suggestions above (that's what I do to treat mine) - good running shoes professionally fitted, orthotics in your normal shoes…

You're doing great! The first time I tried to run, I couldn't run over a mile. But with time (and focusing on how long I was running instead of how far), I was able to run up to five miles no problem. But that took years of training (because I wasn't consistent).
