If you don't want to go, then don't go. it's as simple as that. But don't punish your husband and keep him from going out and seeing his friends.

I've been trying to lose the last 10 for two months now and all I do is fluctuate up or down 2 lbs (water weight I'm guessing). I need motivation and a good butt kicking to keep at this.

I hope not! The official site says the only options that aren't safe for vegans are " pinto beans (they are cooked with a small amount of bacon), meats (obviously), cheese, sour cream, and chipotle-honey vinaigrette"

Never go on volume. Always weigh food and go by the official (non-asterisked) values for produce.

If he's too scared/proud to go to the doctor he probably isn't the type of man you should reproduce with.

I am not in any way responsible for the poor choices people choose to make after information is provided. This only further proves they are terrible human beings if a "negative" attitude can dissuade them from a clearly ethical choice. In my experience being up-front, honest and blunt is incredibly effective and HAS helped…
To solve this problem, buy local meat, eggs, and dairy if possible. I do. I know for sure where my food comes from.
You may have a decent idea. You can't know for sure what torture and cruelty happens behind closed doors. Proximity of slaughter to consumer does not necessarily mean less cruel production…

Just an fyi companies can label their meat as "free range" or "ethical" but it's still not this fantasy you're imagining. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), "free-range" beef, pork, and other non-poultry products are loosely defined as coming from animals who ate grass and lived on a range. No other…

Me! I'm aiming for anywhere between 105-95 (I'll see when I get there). Also, I'm 5'1".

I don't accept if they list vagina/boobs/or hot girls as an inspiration or send a request with a message that sounds a little too much like an online dating intro.

Actually that's not true. You can make vegan cheese from nuts in your own kitchen and meat subs with seitan (vital wheat gluten). Mock meats and cheeses from grocery stores really don't work as a long term vegan diet, they are more meant to ease the transition or as a rare "treat," in my opinion.
-
That's not even close to true about protein. I often get more protein than I need on the "oh so challenging" vegan diet. And there is nothing "humane" or "ethical" about murdering another animal for sustenance. It doesn't matter how local it is or how little time it took the animal to die. An animal still died for human…

Me! I was vegetarian for almost a decade and I've been vegan for a little over a year now. My main motivation is animal rights and welfare, though the health benefits are definitely a plus :)

I know the Chicago diner has a cookbook for sale! My friend got it and she loves it. Found this from a quick google http://veggiediner.com/recipearchives.html

I assume you're referring to me. If you think I'm "preachy" well then I am proud of that. I consider the consumption of animal products abhorrent because it is murder and torture, so I don't have much respect for excuses or omnivore crap when it comes to talking about dietary ethics.

Seconding this. I really couldn't afford to pay more than $60 for a HRM, so I thought I'd try it out since it had the chest strap (far more accurate than the watch only units) and I love it! It's been so helpful for determining how much I'm really burning because mfp's estimates are usually waaaaay over what I burn.

I just completed my first consecutive mile (with no walking interval breaks) last week (I had never run before May!) and I felt like a champ (even though I still have a long way to go). Enjoy your victory and keep running :)

You're judging her. Just own it, because I would too. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do, since it's not your business. Just silently judge her and think about how much healthier you are. Enjoy that feeling of superiority and better health. Maybe one day she will get sick enough that she has a wake-up call.…

I used my ipad a lot during my last year in college. I downloaded texts, .pdfs, took notes, even wrote papers! There are a lot of great apps that are designed for students. I had one called In Class and it had a calender built in with a to do list so you could make sure you did all your assignments, had separate tabs for…

Absolutely disgusting.

Vegan here! Meat free for nearly a decade! Sending you a request :)

Don't eat the packaging or product, don't drink the battery acid and you'll be fine.
-
Easiest and most logical solution: don't even go to dairy queen (or any of those fast food/desert hells). Why waste your $ and calories on something that you will regret later? Go for a run. You'll feel better in the end.
-
I've never craved chocolate, but the best thing you can do for a craving is to just NOT BUY IT. It's not there so you can't eat it (and let's face it you shouldn't really have it lying around if you're trying to live a healthy lifestyle). If you go and buy it, that's your own darn fault.

No willpower needed. Healthy food tastes better than processed crap. Frozen veggies and canned beans are super cheap and very good for you. Look for sales on produce, buy staples (rice, oatmeal, lentils) in bulk whenever possible.
-
The calorie calculations on workout machines are notoriously inaccurate, so I never really trust them. Go for a hrm if you can afford one.

scrambled tofu, granola, oatmeal (with soy/almond/rice milk or water), fresh fruit, nuts, grilled veggies

How about men's opinions of my body don't matter because it's mine and not theirs?
-
YES YES YES. It really bothers me that some people seem to craft their weight loss goals around the preferences of others. Although the guys commenting on threads about women's ideal sizes (and some women even ask them, which troubles me in and of itself) are well-intentioned in stating they like their girls curvy/fit/etc.…
-
Same here. I'm aiming for size 0 and given my build that is not an unhealthy goal, so people need to stfu and stop giving us short girls crap about it. We CAN be healthy and size 0.
