I have the Fitbit Zip, absolutely love it. The best thing about it is the motivation I get to be more active.

Well your friend could be correct but that all depends. Are you eating back the calories you burn from doing your exercise? Are you positive your diet is not too restrictive? After doing a lot of research I discovered that I was eating too few calories for my level of activity which was causing me to retain weight. Another…

Okay thanks for clearing that up. I'm about 2 pounds from my first goal. Right now I have a 500 calorie deficit and plan to renew my goal once it's reached with a smaller deficit. I suddenly don't feel too bad about being 270 over on calories last night lol.
-
So to clarify, once body fat starts getting lower you want to eat those exercise calories or from the get go?
-
Marcus brings up a good point about not eating all of your exercise calories to allow for the 20% margin of error in product labeling.

I may buy a package of peeps and have one or two. I could fit them into my daily goals but I've greatly cut back on my sugar intake and even stopped drinking diet sodas in an attempt to lower my body fat percentage... it's not working lol

To say that muscle weighs more than fat is like saying a pound of rice weighs more than a pound of pasta. A pound of anything is still a pound. The difference, like others have said is density. This is the reason one would lose inches and not pounds.

Perhaps I am wrong but if someone is monitoring their calories and only eats a certain amount (I.E uses MFP) then low-calorie foods are probably not a bad idea. For example, I have switched to those 100 calorie snacks for work and am losing weight just fine. But I do see others that drink diet soda with their big mac and…

For some people it's hard to say no, especially if you have a loved one that's p resistant. But as someone else said stick to your guns. I have not had much trouble with people trying to force something unhealthy upon me (I can do that all by myself easily lol) but I have had a number of people tell me that I need to stop…

Your going to see up's and down's on the scale if you weigh in every day or even every other day. The important thing is that you go by what the program tells you and stick to it. Remember to log everything you eat or drink as sometimes things slip our minds. If you exercise log it, if you walk for a period of time then…

There are many supplements on the market which promise to flush out toxins but before trying them I would consider the natural things you can eat/drink which also do that. Almost anything which is high in fiber can help clean out your body, and that's one of the main things these "slimming teas" do. It's somewhat like a…

First let me address something, muscle and fat weigh the same pound for pound. If you are adding muscle then the scale is not going to move much simply for the fact you are adding to your body instead of taking away. Are you certain that 1200 calories is what you need? Use the tools here to figure out exactly what you need…

Fruit and veggies are a great idea for snack. You can also buy some 100 calorie snacks from the store, they have lots of different ones including many brand name goodies like Rice Crispy Treats and Soft Oreo's.

It's not too good to be true. These are made from rice which contributes to them being low carb, low fat and low sodium.

Most artificial sweeteners are calorie free. Regular tea is also calorie free so the only calories would be from the milk.

I am 26 and (had) 45 pounds to lose, now I have about 22 to go!

If you do not use the extra calories from exercise then it could result in your retaining weight despite being under calorie goal.

I think for men it's a bit easier as most clothing companies make all of their clothes using similar measurements. I know for women the sizes can be kind of crazy and one size in brand A fits great the same size in brand B does not. But the one thing I do hate shopping for the most is pants. Just a few years back I fit…

You should eat at least eat the calories that MFP suggest. When it comes to the others stats I don't worry too much if I am under on them. Also remember to drink plenty of water, it will help out a lot.

Yeah, I admit 2 cups is a lot but I like my sweet tea SWEET :) Good thing I found a solution though because I was going trough tea withdraws.

Quick weight loss is not a good thing. It often results in sagging skin which is unsightly.

If you are easily discouraged then I would suggest that you weigh only once a week or every two weeks. Aside from the scale get a cloth tape measure and use it also. One last thing you can do to track your progress is to setup a place to take pictures of yourself. this gives you a chance to see yourself form the third…

There a lot of great tips that people have already given, many of them are what I would have suggested. The most important thing is that you do not get discouraged by the scale. If you do weigh in each day or perhaps even a couple of times a week you may notice that sometimes you go up over the previous day and sometimes…

Well calories are not like Roll Over Minutes with AT&T. MFP gives you a certain number a day that you should eat. Going a little over is certainly not going to cause a rip in the space time continuum. If you are going out don't worry too much about going over. If you don't go over every day of the week then one day should…

Welcome, starting a calorie counting club is a great way to motivate yourself to stay on the path.

I have weighed in each morning after waking up before getting dressed and have noticed a daily drop of weight with the exception of this morning where I somehow went up two pounds from the previous day... yikes! Not sure what the reason, perhaps it was because the day before I went back to the gym for the first time and…

Welcome to community portion of myfitnesspal. I find the forums and other tools on the site useful, often when I have a question about something I can find the answer here. Best of luck with your goals!

Can you take a bottle of water with you? They now make fairly cheap bottles that have a built-in filter. If you can take a bottle then get one of those and fill it from the fountain then at least the water is filtered.

Well a Calorie Deficit is the difference between the calories you eat and the calories you burn from exercise. If you eat 1,500 calories in one day but you burn 1,000 calories from exercise then your deficit (or difference) is 500. It is recommended by some that you create a deficit of 500 each day by exercising so that…
