I don't for the simple reason that we are all different shapes. Just because I'm a certain size doesn't mean I fit correctly in every single item of that size. That doesn't even account for the variability in some of the sizing between brands. What would be more accurate would be taking something that fits now and…

Have you always stepped on your scale this often in the past? Your body fluctuates ALL THE TIME.

It's actually pretty good! I added honey to it as you suggested. I found that a little bit of black pepper goes a long way. My only disappointment is I can't get Granny Smith green apples here.

This sounds completely odd to me but at the same time intriguing because I can't imagine the taste. I might give it a try if I remember this post tomorrow.

I eat it with goldfish crackers!

12/29 There are a variety of lists online related to serving sizes for vegetables and fruit but I didn't find a comprehensive one and there seems to be conflicting information. Nonetheless, I'm trying to give it my best educated guess based on today's foods. [1/2 serving] Bell Pepper (2 strips/rings) [1 serving] Green…

Yes, I would say you did much better today!
An easy breakfast is to cut up and saute an onion, bell peper, and tomato and then add beans or eggs on top...kind of like a nice huevos rancheros but minus the tortilla (or eggs if you dont like). I love veggies for breakfast!
I can't make fried eggs or even omelets worth a darn but you did encourage me…

Last night I had a late snack so I added nori to my list. One of my friend repeatedly has sushi on his list so I had my kids walk across the street to get me a set. I shared with my husband since it was considered a snack.

Soy beans are considered a vegetable.

This was me at one point. I had a friend with all kinds of physical problems and she was doing fantastic stuff. She was struggling but she was going for it. For some reason it clicked with me that day. It's in my mind. If she can do it, I can do it too. Why am I whining? Having said that, I've experimented with a lot of…

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” ~Robert J Collier “You cannot expect to achieve new goals or move beyond your present circumstances unless you change.” ~Les Brown “There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.”…

Meh. I weigh 126lbs and according to the frame calculator, I'm a small frame. The last body fat percentage test I did was almost 5lbs ago. I was 18% at the time. That's in the athlete range. It depends on your goals really. I have, however, been lifting this time around and I'm smaller per pound than I was before. I don't…

When I first got married, I could boil water and that's about it. Cooking Hamburger Helper was a puzzle to me because I had no idea what "brown the meat" meant. I didn't have access to Google back then. My husband will tell you that some of those early meals took me hours to make simply because I didn't have a clue. Now I…

Now is the time to analyze what habits stuck and what didn't. Habits can be little things like whether you park at the end of the parking lot and walk. Whether you consistently drink water. Whether you pretty much eat your veggies without complaining. The list goes on. What stuck? Next analyze what didn't stick. Think…

Stress? Stuck in a rut with food choices? TOM? Sick?

I don't have a problem with eating veggies. I'm not great at cooking/seasoning them well. I fall back on spinach salad but I don't want one every single day. I've been joining these veggie challenges partially to prompt myself to find new ways of makin stuff so I'm not relying on the same 3 canned veggies and a salad all…

As for losing inches vs scale, many will attest to losing one but not the other at various stages. You can lose inches and not see it show up on the scale for awhile. Look up body recomposition. Recently I weighed 2lbs lighter than what I did 2 years ago BUT I wore almost 2 full sizes smaller! Before anyone says clothing…

Losing 1lb a week may not only be a good steady rate, but it can give you time to build good solid habits that aren't built on speed and restriction. You need that time to really learn more about yourself and what it is going to take to sustain your loss. As you found, losing wasn't the hardest part, though I am definitely…

A few days will not hurt you. You are getting something down. Being sick is not the norm.

It will vary from day to day as well. Mine generally varies about 3lbs from morning to morning (after I get up, use the bathroom, etc). Some times of the month it can vary more than that. Sodium and exercise can increase temporary water weight as well. Definitely morning to night will be a decent difference.

I agree!

I currently live in Japan and I don't feel out of place at 126lbs. What I notice though is that generally speaking you won't see the same level of obesity as you see in the states. Statistically, according to that website, I actually weigh less than 50% of the women here. Go figure.

This reminds me of a time this recent year when my middle school kid (boy) had a hankering for a specific dish but he asked a little bit too late. I was preparing spaghetti bake. They absolutely love this dish but that particular day, someone mentioned another dish and he uncharacteristically asked for it. I told him I…

It is inspirational that you recognize from the beginning that a lot of this is in the head. How exactly right you are!!! One subtle change I made in the beginning that really helped me was substituting the word "can" with the word "will." I can walk 100 steps today. I WILL walk 100 steps today. Focus on figuring out what…

Christmas Day-- Raspberries (5) Blueberries (10) Spinach (1 Cup) Shredded Carrots (1-2 oz) Brussel Sprouts (roasted, 10) Bell Pepper (2 strips) Apple Cider (4 oz.) Potato (small, baked, I agree it is counted in the carbohydrates part of the food pyramid but it is also a vegetable) I'm not good at what constitutes a full…

I actually missed the numbers part when I looked at your original post. I was just looking at the awesome change in a year. Then I came across what this person said and did a double take. Seriously!!! Wow. What a dramatic difference those 30 pounds made. I wouldn't have guessed it either. Are you exercising too? The reason…

Because weight naturally fluctuates, it can take a little more time for some people to see it. This is especially true if you start a good exercise program because your muscles will retain water for a bit. If you are losing 1lb a week and your body is swinging 2-5lbs in water weight, it can hide your loss. Once you lose a…
