  • Oh, I miss Galaxy Chocolate, time to go back to Scotland!
  • I'm 5' 10" and started out at nearly 270, I lost 30 pounds in the first 3 months and that came off pretty easy with just eating right, no exercise. Since then, I have cut back to about a pound a week and I exercise, and I feel great. Almost 40 pounds so far, 30 to go. So that initial 30 was about 40% of my overall goal.…
  • Personally, I hate most cooked vegetables except for the basics like corn and potatoes. So to get my good veggies in I have to eat them raw. I am happy with broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, and carrots dipped in some lowfat yogurt ranch dressing (Bolthouse Farms makes some good ones), this way I get in my good veggies and…
  • We don't have a Krispy Kreme donut place near me (thank goodness) but the other day I drove about an hour away to visit my mom. On the way home I knew that the exit for Krispy Kreme near her town was coming up, it weighed heavily on my mind. I didn't want to mess up my calories for the day and I specifically did not want…
  • Tom eats really spicy eggs G R U F L
  • 1200 is the minimum allowed by whatever program MFP uses. My wife is also supposed to be at 1200 according to MFP but her doctor told her to eat no less than 1400. She is unable to exercise but is very strict about her calorie intake and she sticks with 1400. She has been able to lose 16 pounds in the last three months. If…
  • I have a great friend at work who has lost about 70 pounds over the last year. I started a few months ago and have lost nearly 40. She says the same things you mentioned every day (even though I still have about 40 pounds to go), I take it as a compliment, she is recognizing that I am losing weight and look much "skinnier"…
  • Not sure how you would do it on a bowflex but 20-30% of your max would be low weight. You determine the maximum you can lift once for a particular lift, then take 20-30% of that weight. Recheck your max every couple of months and recalculate your percentage.
  • I am definitely wired, oh wait, sorry I thought this was the caffeine support group, never mind.
  • 30 annoying 8th graders
  • Typical pre-MFP day, Breakfast: three pieces of french toast covered in syrup and powdered sugar, 7 or 8 sausage links, 2 cups of chocolate milk. Lunch: 2 quesadillas, 3 or 4 servings of Doritos, 42 oz, Dr. Pepper. Snack: Candy bar, banana, couple of cheese sticks, dinner: 3/4 of a large Papa Murphy's pepperoni pizza, more…
  • 1200 is about as low as you can go on MFP (Myfitnesspal) my wife is supposed to be at 1200 but her doctor told her not to go below 1400. She is pretty strict about that and tries to eat right at 1400 a day. She has lost 16 pounds in 100 days but she is not able to exercise.
  • Ditto, mine probably leans more towards Keto, but not on purpose. I like to eat a lot of proteins and I try and avoid carbs in baked goods and treats. I don't pay much attention to fats unless they are going to kill my daily calories.
  • It's hard, I was probably eating around 4,000 to 5,000 calories a day before I started. It was an eye opener for me. I count everything and try to limit myself to a certain amount of calories for breakfast and lunch and then I am more flexible with dinner. 95% of the days I stay below my current limit of 1700 calories. I…
  • I liked it -- Spoiler Alert! --
  • I have an open diary, but my calorie intake is 1700/day, probably too high for you.
  • Ohhh, you just had to mention Outback's bread. If there was a drooling emoji I would add it. I will just have to settle for my tuna and cheese lunch today.

  • Depends on your starting weight. I am 5' 10" and started at almost 270 in January and have lost 37 so far. The first 25 was easy and quick once I went from probably 4,000 to 5,000 calories a day down to 1,800. But it is slow going now. I am happy with my current rate of about a pound a week. That first big weight loss is…
  • Depends on the salad and the dressing. We almost always make our own and measure everything that goes in. If I am going to eat a salad over 400 calories it better be a big awesome one.

  • My wife has been on MFP for 3 months now and has lost 16 pounds, she is almost fanatical about weighing her food and counting everything. She is unable to exercise much because of past injuries but I think her weight loss and yours are very healthy and sustainable. I was able to lose about 25 pounds the first 6 weeks but…
  • We disagreed on why little wolf left the lawkeeper.
  • Hi! This is the place to be, even if we all aren't as ripped as tomwasilj33w.

  • Try and look at the long run. I have been very consistent with my calorie intake and exercise and over the last month or so and there have been weeks when I gained a pound or so and weeks I lost, but overall I lost about 3 pounds so I know I am on the right track. Don't get discouraged, keep pushing!!
  • I prefer to make my own, then I can calculate exactly how many calories I am consuming. Tastes great too. My recipe for food processor pizza dough: 1 3/4 cups flour 1 package yeast (2 teaspoons) 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon sugar Throw it all in a food processor and add 3/4 cup hot water and 1 tablespoon olive oil Process on…
  • Ditto. I weigh 232 and am trying to drop below 200. I am 5' 11" male and my calorie intake is set at 1700. Sometimes the calories "burned" that are added to your calorie count each day are not accurate. I try and stay around 1700 whether or not I work out. Not sure if that is the best plan but it is working for me. I have…
  • It definitely takes some time to get used to but after a few weeks it is second nature and has become almost an obsession for my wife and I.
  • Sure, good protein and the bone marrow could make a good soup. Help prolong my life another few weeks until help arrives.
