1200 is the minimum allowed by whatever program MFP uses. My wife is also supposed to be at 1200 according to MFP but her doctor told her to eat no less than 1400. She is unable to exercise but is very strict about her calorie intake and she sticks with 1400. She has been able to lose 16 pounds in the last three months. If you are trying to go with the 1200 I would say to eat plenty of protein (helps you feel fuller longer) and stay away from the carbs. That's my personal experience anyway. My wife also drinks a cup of whole milk each morning and that helps curb her hunger until lunch pretty well.2

Unless you're really short (like me!) or can't do any exercise, 1200 is likely not your target goal. The best goal is to eat as many calories as you can and still lose weight. Set your weight loss to a slower rate and eat more!1

Did you set your goal to 2 lbs per week? Unless you have a lot of weight to lose (like 75 lbs or more) that's too aggressive. Reduce your weekly goal and your calories will go up.
Also, MFP expects you to eat back your exercise calories. So log your exercise and eat back at least some of those extra calories. Good luck2 -

What are your statistics entered in MFP - height, present weight, goal weight? In most cases MFP wouldn't assign such a low number as a daily calorie goal. I lost weight with a daily goal of 1810.0 -
1200 may not be enough for you, what is your height, weight, age and how many lbs do you want to lose, activity level, job description.0

We all feel that way; that's how we got into this mess in the first place!
Anyway, if MFP says you get 1200 to lose 1lb per week at a sedentary lifestyle, then it's probably right. You can cross check with this calculator:
http://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html
If you have it set for a 2lb loss per week, go to 1. Much more feasible.
If you still get 1200kcals/day and feel that you can't go that low:
- Maybe you have an active job, meaning you are on your feet most of the day. Change the setting from "sedentary" to "lightly active." That will give you a few more calories.
- If you are mostly sedentary, add some daily exercise. It doesn't need to be anything complicated. Walking a few miles a day really helps. Measure distance using your phone, type it into MFP, and it will add in the calories.
- Maybe you don't need to lose a pound a week. Change it to .5 pounds a week.
I hope you find success!0
