  • Added sugar is the single worst ingredient in the modern diet. Sugar contains a lot of calories, with no essential nutrients. When repeatedly eating large amounts of sugar, this process can lead to fatty liver and all sorts of serious problems. Not to mention diabetes, obesity and some studies say links to heart disease.

  • You might gain with all that fat and sugar in milk, but at what expense. In 5 10 years you heart and liver and pancreas will remember all that crud you put in your body. Fitness is suppose to equal healthy isn't it? No dr or cardiologist anywhere would recommend this.
  • That's a lot of fat and sugar. eewww. Nowadays, milking cows are given antibiotics and most are also injected with a genetically engineered form of bovine growth hormone (rBGH). A man-made or synthetic hormone used to artificially increase milk production, rBGH also increases blood levels of the insulin-growth factor 1…
  • No, not working with anyone. My dr gave me a list of foods, my fiance looks up food that is suppose to be good for you Yes, trying some of those foods that were suggested. I just can't eat much at one time. Slowly getting better, but I'm just never hungry. And since I'm pre-diabetic I have pretty much cut out all sugars…
  • I too, have a hard time meeting my calorie goals. :( I'm pre diabetic so no extra sugars no junk food, processed food is out. Low carb and more protein is what I was told. No ice creme, cookies all the good stuff. My 2 favorite foods are gone, potatoes and bananas. Very boring meals and no good tasty stuff any more. I…
  • I too have trouble gaining weight. And if I miss just one or two meals, for some reason I lose a pd or 2. Don't fill up on junk food and high fat foods. There is NO nutrition in them. Do you want to end up pre diabetic or have heart disease or high cholesterol? (Might take years but you will) Yea, you sit and eat a gal of…
  • What a great topic and perfect timing. I was just at the dr also and was told I need to up my protein. Great ideas!
  • I'd love to eat gluten free!
  • I would LOVE to gain that much in a few days!! And be able to keep it.
  • Thanks to all who responded. yes, on my recent blood work it came back as pre diabetic. So watching sugar an carbs. No added sugars, and carbs turn to sugar so I have to watch what I eat. Hard to do when I want to gain weight. Dr said more protein and fiber.
  • Jesse_Hunter Thank you! Gaining weight mostly right now. Just started walking 2 miles a day. Been very sedentary for years, just quit smoking so starting from scratch.
  • canned chickpeas oh yea these are good and if you want them as a snack put a little oil on a pan, roll them around, add some garlic or salt, what ever u like and bake them Better than pretzels!!
  • Brown rice, healthier than white rice. Eggs, healthy and inexpensive. Fresh veggies since you probably only have to feed yourself. Asparagus, broccoli, etc. Carrots & peanut butter to snack on. (Carrots lose a lot of nutrition cooking them) Peanut butter-protien. Different beans to cook. (No canned) Chicken is healthy,…
  • People have to sit at some point. I don't think we have to be active 16 hrs a day. The stress from that would be worse than sitting. Sit to eat, watch a movie to relax, do bills, go to the bathroom. Standing on your feet all day is not good either. Leg pains, sore feet, back ache etc. I get up an sit for an hr or 2 then…
  • How do you set them on your own food diary And I can't find how to start a post even tho I did before. :( Thanks
  • caesar164 I wasn't compulsory a healthy eater until I decided to quit smoking. LOL Father in law had quadruple by pass, sister had a heart attack, another sister just was diagnosed with cancer. So I decided even at my age, I'm changing. Might be to late, but I am going to give it a shot. I did buy some little weights. I am…
  • caesar164 Thank you Is there a light creme you would suggest? You say add some, to the milk or could I just use it instead of milk? I am also trying to get fit. Tomorrow will be 2 months since I last had a cigarette. I now walk 2 to 3 miles a day and while it isn't much, I am happy with it so far because 5 or 6 months ago…
  • Thank you Kevalicious99 Yes I'm going to add some nuts, peanuts and probably walnuts. I'd rather eat the grilled salmon and spinach for supper and need to make up some calories than eat a big mac and wonder what kind of garbage I was ingesting. Or throw in some twinkies for dessert, that would help but much prefer healthy…
  • sugar http://drhyman.com/blog/2014/02/07/eggs-dont-cause-heart-attacks-sugar/#close This is just one link. More and more doctors are coming out that sugar is the main culprit
  • Sugar is not good for you. There is so much sugar in all foods we eat that most people get way way over the recommended amount as it is.(Look at the sugar amount in just a can of tomato sauce) Cheesecake, one of the main things my father in laws cardiologists recommended avoiding along with my aunts dr. She was diabetic. I…
  • 5'2 98 pds and I get tired of buying my clothes in the children's section. I want a butt lol. Started walking 2 to 3 miles a day so now I need more calories but I have more stamina and am not as tired as I usually was. Went for blood work today, my every 2 year ck up. I have been to a gastro but had no money for tests.…
  • Thanks! I was going to try ice cream every night, but it has so much sugar! I do snack on cherries and or strawberries in the evening. I thought cheesecake, but not exactly very good for you. I want to keep all my cholesterol low and my heart healthy. At my age, I need every little bit of healthiness as possible. Breakfast…
  • Thank you Kalikel!!
  • I have asked my dr about this. He seems ok but hesitant about it. And it's difficult to obtain, with the procedures you have to go thru. I need to be happy with my weight also, and ignore the rude people who make comments. To thi or to heavy and people seem to feel they have a right to make comments. :(
  • Thanks! I just switched from white bread, which I know is horrid health wise, to 100% wholegrain. Yep 2 ensures a day. Eating healthy and having GERD and an ulcer makes it difficult. Thank you
  • silencioesoro Very much so. Sometimes I have that gnawing in my stomach or outright pain and I can't handle much food. Sometimes eating makes me nauseous. And it doesn't take much to fill me up. I do eat fats, but natural fats no extra garbage fats like in chips and such. To the other issue, yes Cheerios come in a box, I…
  • Thank you
  • Thanks Yes, we cut most fats out. The hamburger we do buy is the leanest kind we can get. If we cook it out on the grill or it doesn't bother me as much. For people who are trying to lose weight people say "just don't eat as much" And for gaining they say "Eat more" As everyone here knows, it's not usually that easy. :)
  • That meal was just last nights meal, but pretty typical. The day before breakfast and lunch was the same but dinner was grilled chicken, (extra virgin olive oil), baked potato (loaded with butter, my vice) and roasted broccoli with garlic. I did have some strawberry shortcake smothered in whipped creme. I don't eat…
  • Thanks. I guess a milkshake would be good in the evening. Maybe a banana milkshake? Some vanilla ice creme and add a banana?
