I can guarantee that if you eat 5 fudge bars and nothing else, you will definitely not gain weight.
-
That's a good idea. I can weigh 5 or 6 of them and see how close they are to the actual weight, then log based on that. Simple enough!
-
My first week I lost 8 pounds too. It's likely not all actual weight but just water weight. Water weight can change drastically from day to day based on exercise, sodium intake, sleep, and any other random thing it feels like reacting to. Don't be surprised if you do everything right and don't lose any weight for a week or…

Thanks all! Good suggestions, appreciate your thoughts :)

Although it may seem counter intuitive, the more water you drink, the less water you retain, which means you have less water weight. On days that I don't drink anything, i always weigh a pound or two more than the day before. Also foods with high sodium content can cause water retention, increasing water weight. My…

Without knowing too many details.... When you are trying to lose weight, eating as little as possible is not the best way to do it. Setting a reasonalbe daily calorie goal will allow you to eat enough during the day, not feel hungry, and still lose weight. If you are waking up in the middle of the day because of hunger,…

Although people always say "it doesn't matter what you eat, only how many calories you eat", that doesn't mean that eating "junk" food will result in you having enough energy throughout the day. I didn't look at your diary to much, but eating things that are high in protein and fat will help you to have sustained energy.…

Oh i dont' think he was saying that you can't eat those things and do fine, just that you ought to know they are there before you eat them. Subway has given themselves the image of being the "healthy" fast food place, and while they do have several options that are healthier than other places, one could easily think they…
-
Be careful with Subway though.... Some of their subs are easily upwards of 1000 calories. Don't just assume that because its Subway, everything is healthy.

I love me some Wendy's :) I always get the Son of Baconator! Unfortunately there is no real good option as far as calorie's go there. You could either get the most basic burger and smallest fry like you suggested, or get whatever you REALLY want and only eat half of it.... Or you could save yourself some calories by…

I have found that taking a week or two off of the "diet" and eating a maintenance helps me get through the stalls. After eating at my maintenance level for a few weeks, i drop the calories off again and the weight loss resumes as before. No science, no proof, just personal experience.

You are almost definitely eating more than you think you are. Everything you have logged is "1 cup" or "1 chicken tender" or "1 serving". Also it appears that you are using data entries that other MFP users have input manually, which likely is not exactly the same as what you are eating. For instance, your chicken cordon…

I don't know much about you, but upping your calories will almost definitely not result in weightloss. If you are not losing at the amount of calories you are eating now, then you are either eating more than you think you are, or your calorie goal is simply too high. I always hesitate to suggest people eat fewer calories,…

Yep. The saying goes, "You can't out exercise a bad diet." Your workouts seem fine, but exercise doesn't mean you don't have to watch what you eat.
-
Exactly! And are you losing a pound or two and going up in one day, one week, or one month? Your day to day weight can fluctuate up or down 5 pounds easily. If you notice a downward trend over a month or 2, then you are having result. Typically a 1-2 pound loss per week is a pretty good rate of weight loss.
-
Basically what has already been said explains it perfectly. I just wanted to add my personal experiences as well. I usually don't eat back my exercise calories because A) I don't trust the amount of calories it says i burn in my exercise, and B) even though i am diligent in my food logging, I know there are innacuracies…

Don't starve yourself.... You can eat 100% "healthy" foods and still not lose weight if you are eating too many of them. If you not losing wieght, you probably need to look at what you are eating. How many calories are you tying to eat per day? Are you actually counting calories? How do you log your foods? If you are not…

You don't think your post could at all be interpretted as you suggesting they should not lose weight because they are already borderline too skinny? I won't argue it with you though, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Resistance training while eating at a calorie deficit should help you lose fat and not lose too much muscle. Unfortunately you can't choose where you lose the fat or the muscle. I'm pretty sure its impossible to lose fat in your stomach while you build muscle in your butt. Perhaps focus on the fat loss first, then switch…

Why does it matter to you? Isn't telling someone they are already too skinny and shouldn't lose weight skinny shaming?
-
People really need to let this thread die... And I recognize that my posting will bump it up again, which I do regret... But yea.

I usually don't eat my "earned" calories, but i mainly use it as a buffer to account for my innacurate logging. I measured everything religiously for a few months, and I learned about portion sizes and how to eyeball measurements. I think i do a pretty good job, but i use the exercise to make up for any underestimates.…

1 - I recently lost 20 pounds by eating around 1700 calories a day. After that i went for about 2 weeks at maintenance or slightly above because i had a ton of family parties in a row and i didn't want to have to stress about counting calories. I continued to exercise even though i was eating more. I didn't lose any…

Um... Don't get bored? But seriously, try to have some kind of distraction handy. Drink water, go for a walk, surf the web, read a book.... Just stay busy doing something, and then try to use a little will power to ignore the cravings. Not much more you can do really.

Well your body is made up of a lot of water, so you really don't want to get rid of the water weight. You just need to know that it is there, and understand that it plays a role in your body weight fluctuation. Your water weight may fluctuate up if you start a new exercise program, as your muscles will hold water to try…
-
I could see how that could affect your body fat %, but still fail to see how that would force weight gain.... "changes in the regulation of body fat stores" does not mean that body fat stores are created regardless of the amount of energy available to your body. Regardless of what your body want to do to its body fat…

Sounds to me like you've found a miracle drug that can cause an increase in fat stores in a body that is not consuming enough calories. This should solve the problem of world hunger. Seriously though, there are millions in Africa who do not have access to enough food to keep them alive. We should just send them a bunch of…

By far the biggest mistake people make are overestimating their exercise calorie burns, and underestimating the food calories they eat. So to avoid those pitfalls you should: 1 - Not trust the number of calories that MFP says you burn during a workout. I would trust about 50% of whatever it says, meaning that if it says…
-
It will slow down. I also lost about 10 pounds in my first week, then about 5 more my second week. After that, I have been averaging between 1-2 pounds a week. I don't know the science behind it, but it seems to me that that first week or two is all about your body adjusting its water levels, and hormone levels, and…

Its not really advice.... But i do get the "You're so lucky you lose weight easily" comments a lot. Then i tell them its not hard, that i still eat whatever junk i want in smaller portions, and just exercise a little bit. All they have to say, "Well you must just have a high metabolism".
