midnight snacking ruining my life

So I have been good for a few days and tonight I went to sleep early. Woke up at midnight with this tremendous hunger which didn't make sense because I have eaten well today.
I normally order pizza at this point and I made a point not to to. Instead I nibbled on Turkey and had two whole food bars.
Did anyone out there beat the midnight monster? If so how did u do it.?

It sounds like you did just fine, as you didn't order the pizza. Are you hydrating enough? Are you getting enough calories during the day?0

Without knowing too many details....
When you are trying to lose weight, eating as little as possible is not the best way to do it. Setting a reasonalbe daily calorie goal will allow you to eat enough during the day, not feel hungry, and still lose weight. If you are waking up in the middle of the day because of hunger, there is a good chance that you are restricting yourself too much, and your body doesn't like that.
This is where the type of food you eat comes into play. If you eat a lot of "unhealthy" foods, with low nutrient/high caloric value, then you will likely not be getting the energy you need. You could definitely lose weight on whatever you want as long as you don't eat too much, but you won't feel great doing it.
Make sure you aren't trying to eat too few calories. Then make sure that you are eating a well balanced diet, and look for foods that help you feel full longer, suchs as foods high in proteins or fats.
The rest comes down to self control. If you are eating just to eat, and not because you are hungry, then you simply need to distract yourself and resist that urge. Giving in to that urge is likley what got you where you are, and now it is time to beat it.0 -
My SIL swears by a pre-bedtime bowl of oatmeal. 1/2 cup of dry oats yields 1 cup of fiber-rich, guilt-less snacking that will keep you sated 'til morning. Cooked in plain water, it is only about 145 calories per cup. If you want a bit more, you can stir in honey, maple syrup, nuts, raisins.... all at added calories, but also added nutrients. IMHO the traditional oats are the better nutritional bang-for-your-buck.
There are instant brands with about 100 calories per pouch (Quaker instant plain) if you don't want quite so many calories - they yield about 2/3 cup with water. This might be an easy way to get a filling bedtime snack.
Good job skipping the pizza. That's a NSV for the day!0 -
BY eating well I hope you mean "I ate an appropriate amount of calories and am not eating well below 20% of my caloric maintenance needs"?
Because you can eat well all you want and still be under-eating.0
