I found adding a 100 calories a week has helped me. It's a bit of a slow process if you're trying to get to really high calories but it's easy to adjust to.

Real food is usually what I prefer but protein bars do come in handy on those busy days.

I've been skinny most of my life and pretty much been through the same thing you have (gained a lot of weight, losing it, and being skinny again). I've started by learning what I needed to eat. Personally, my intake consists of a ton of brown rice, whole wheat bagels, lots of chicken, and almond milk (my stomach does not…

Kickass! Wait till you see you'll look like on day 90!

Chicken breast have a lot of protein. Don't forget tuna as well.

Chiptole. My god that place is always delicious.

Is that literally all you eat? How much protein are you getting a day? Fat? Carbs? And yes, you need to kick back some of that red bull. If you must have red bull, go get the no carb sugar free version.

Insanity is such an adrenaline rush for me. Learn to go at your own pace (and take brakes!) and enjoy it :)

Optimum Nutrition has great protein mixes, and a good variety of flavors. Try some small samples and see what you like. In terms of pure taste, I am always a fan of Muscle Milk.

I wouldn't say you'd have to cut all rice and bread out. Just make sure it fits in your allowance. One thing I like to eat if I'm cutting back bread is to wrap something in lettuce. A lettuce wrapped chicken burrito with some salsa, a sprinkle of cheese, and a tiny bit of rice... delicious.

I pre-log on a daily basis. It's especially useful if I plan on eating out so I know what I can or cannot eat through the day.

Unfortunately fast food is cheap (priced) and convenient. Luckily, there's healthy-ish options you can take but man the temptation of french fries makes it hard.
-
Agree on the veggies too. Mix in a whole bunch with whatever you're eating and it'll make your meal bigger. Try a really hot pepper and it'll make you drink a ton of water lol.

P90X workout and nutrition has done amazing wonders for me. It was a pain in the *kitten* forcing myself to wake up early but every week I saw so much improvements, I kept going because it motivated me. But like any workout, and as others have mentioned in this thread, you really need to stay on top of your nutrition.

I feel very guilty on rest days too, as I feel I need to constantly work on something. However, I do force myself to rest. If I have to do something, I do some yoga or stretching videos just to get that "productivity mindset" out.

When I need to cut carbs, I eat tons of chicken breast, salsa, and lots of greens. (get fresh salsa and it adds so much wonderful flavor). Another excellent condiment to spice things up is Sriracha chili sauce.

I'm fond of Arnold's whole wheat bread (usually found at Harris Teeter). Lots of great bread choices from Trader Joes as well.
-
I usually take a protein shake right before I go to sleep.

Mmm hummus and avacado... so tasty.

Pre-workout supplements are one of those things you need to try to see which one works for you (as well as tolerating the taste). I'm personally very fond of No Xplode 2 in watermelon flavor. (people look at me crazy when I say it tastes good!)

Chocolate milk is wonderful after a hard workout :)
-
I'm personally very fond of P90X. It guided me to understanding variety of exercises, eating, and trying out new things (I freaking love Yoga now).
-
That's the spirit! Just know that your progress to your success will also motivate others :)
-
Congrats! Keep up the great lifestyle!

That was my mistake; I saw this thread more as a "work out at home question" P90X is not a heavy lifting program.
-
^ I highly recommend P90X. You will need a variety of free weights (anywhere between 3 pounds and up). I highly recommend the adjustable weights (Bowflex or PowerBlocks). That way you can have the best of both worlds with all of the weights.
-
I think overdoing it like that will just make you want to quit rather than focusing on staying consistent. Follow the P90X workout via the calendar and follow a very good diet (the P90X nutrition worked wonders for me) and you'll see fantastic results.

Thank you! The saying really is true... you are what you eat!
