I am 55 and really need to get back to lifting weights. I can not seem to find a consistent time to go. I am losing weight (down 28 lbs) and really want to be strong and fit again - I was about 7 years ago. Between hypothyroidism, menopause and Covid I have not been able to get a good weight lifting routine restarted.…

Checking in: SW: 220lbs 7/5/24 CW: 193lbs 10/17/24 (15 weeks) down 27lbs. Considering how hard I have worked the last few weeks and haven't been able to lose anything I am overjoyed!! GW: 160 lbs

That's good advice! I should look into that. I really loved weight lifting but can not manage to consistently get myself to the gym. It's hot still here and walking would be nice, but I am not up early enough to beat that heat. I will look at a few apps and videos. Thank you!

I've been on it for 3 months and am down 23 lbs. SW 220, not 193 - goal 160 (probably lose to 155 if I can to give a cushion). I have hormonal imbalances that made losing weight really difficult the last 5 years. But this seems to really help with that. I gained about 40-50 lbs during Covid years through the closed gym and…

Accountably check in: SW- 220lbs - 7/5 CW - 197.5 - 9/14 (10 weeks) GW - 160 I am really happy. Losing about a lb a week. Most days I am torn between making myself eat more (up to 1000-1200 calories) or just skip eating because I'm just not interested. I actually feel like I lose better when I eat more - and I do try to…

Just a quick check in !! I am in ONEderland!! YAY!! I'm at 199 lbs! Woohoo! I am so happy to be back in the hundreds! Now on to new and smaller numbers!! I hope you guys are doing well!!

Have a great vacation!! I would say go back down to the lower dose. I see a lot of people stay at the lower dose and lose well. If it's working there's no reason to up it, IMO. I took my 10th dose on Thursday. I weighed in at 199 today!! HOORAY!! I'm back in ONEderland!! It's been far too long since I was here. I am still…

Ooh- sorry about your thumb!! Hope you're ok now!! Thanks for sharing what you eat! I have been living on the Fair Life chocolate protein shakes. 30g of protein and taste like chocolate milk. I get them at Costco and they've been a big part of keeping me going. I was eating a lot of yogurt in the beginning but burned out…

Great to meet you! I went through a similar Covid season, lost my mom then, and menopause, hashimotos and no gym were a bad combination for me too! You're losing a lot faster than me!! Way to go! I miss having more muscle mass - I was lifting heavy weights 5x a week before covid. Sigh. What are you all eating? I shoot for…

I'm with you on moving more. I try to get to the gym a few times a week and like to walk outside when it cools off. I went once this week. I need to move more but I am kind of tired too so it's a struggle. Any little bit helps though! I went away last weekend and came home up 2 lbs. I think travel in general makes you gain…

Thank you! I am feeling a lot better this week and hopefully it'll be fully resolved soon. This is definitely a life thing. I've been overweight all of my life so I have battled that long too. I lost a lb this past week down to 205. I lose really slow!! But at least there is some movement. I went to the gym once - walked…

LOL! I just got back from 2 weeks of vacation. I actually lost a few lbs while away! Even on the therapeutic dose I had really reduced appetite and not much interest in food. Today was my next shot - and the bumped up (double what I was doing for the therapeutic dose). I was a bit hungrier the last few days, so I went…

I am still new, but I think the combination of high protein and adding in exercise works the best. Most reccomendations are 1000-1200 calories a day and 100g of protein. Too soon say from experience- I'm down 13lbs in the first 3 weeks.

I just started this medication. I was hoping to find a supportive group with suggestions and shared ideas. I'm not interested in those who are not involved but love to put others down. Really petty and off-putting. And frankly on a fitness and weightloss site I would expect most to want to help and be supportive. I've lost…

Love this! I just started walking again and am loving it! We've had some lifestyle changes and I just got out of the habit and routine! It's so good!! I hope I can keep with it. I'm trying to get back to weight lifting too, but will not be as intense with it as I was 5 years ago. But walking I can do often! :)

Hi Ladies! I hope it’s ok if I join in here too? I followed NROLFW a few years ago and really fell in love with weight lifting! I was doing well for a few years despite some injuries (knee, compressed disc in low back and neck). Then I developed Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and have spent the last 2 years fighting infuriating…

Anybody still around? I’m checking in to catch up with you lovely lifting ladies! I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis 2 years ago, while caring for a drug addicted newborn. (Became foster parents) I gained 20-30 lbs in month and a half despite regular workouts and a 1400cal diet. My hair was falling out, couldn’t…

^ this. Look into low bar squats. I had to switch to those and am happy. My body just couldn’t get very low with high bar squats. Low bar has me wider stance and leaning forward which works much better for me.

I’m happy to see you guys struggling and lifting too! I’ve been struggling for the last year or so, after my thyroid tanked. I’m finally feeling somewhat better and ready to really recommit. Great gym with good childcare for my little ones. I was doing a split but wasn’t too consistent or ambitious with it, so I’m back to…

Just a bump to see who’s still around? I’m still in Gilbert but now at Lifetime Fitness (luxury gym,). I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 2 years ago (autoimmune hypothyroid) and have been struggling since. Gained close to 30 lbs and felt awful for a long while. I’m finally feeling better on my current meds, and back in the…

49 years old and just got back to lifting a few months ago after 2 years off due to Hashimoto’s and life! Love being back at it! Feels so good! Adding a bit of cardio in now to help with fat loss, but don’t want to give up my lifting. Fiddling around with macros and calories too...sure harder to lose this stupid thyroid…

If was doing well lifting for 2 years, did NROLFW then SL 5x5...then injury and chaotic life took me out of training for the last 2 years. :( but I’m back on track now finally and trying to get back to making progress. This thread is very inspiring!! thank you all who have shared your lifts and your plans! I’m starting…

Hi girls! Remember me? It's been a while since I posted, or lifted!!! I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis last year, which explained my infuriating 20lb weight gain while in a deficit and working out 5 days a week...combine that with fostering a newborn (who just turned 1 on Monday-but moved to her grandparents…

Stephe-dh does 5/3/1 and wants me to switch to that too. I'll be watching to see how you like it longer term. Beeps-have a blast in Boston! Aigre-enjoy performance mode!! Sam-great progress!! Woohoo! Dawn-hope the cough improves! I'm doing well...still not lifting yet, so tired and haven't managed to get to the Gym! :( but…

Hi girls! Sorry I've been mia...newborn is adorable and we love her! But I'm exhausted:( I haven't lifted in 2 weeks :(. Scale continued to climb, but I saw the endocrinologist today and she's prescribed a new med which should help. I hope to take a few naps so that I be a bit less exhausted and start working out again! I…

Great lifting ladies! Aigre-good job on strong curves! WTG! Dawn-gah! Christmas? I guess it's true, I've seen it out in stores already! Sorry the DL isn't happening yet, you'll get there!! Beeps-Good lifting!! No lifting yet for me, very tired and distracted...but loving this little baby!!! I've got appointments with her…

Hi ladies! Sam-thanks, the discouraging part was how rare, I'm told, it is to get the meds optimized. I'm glad to hear they're doing well though! So many hypo patients are never able to lose weight. But I'm hoping good meds and careful diet and exercise will help me succeed. It's just rough adjusting my expectations to…

Isca-dang! 100lb OHP!! Go girl! Thanks Canada! :)

Aigre-just saw on the FB group that a lady on ETP just hit -20lbs since July. Encouraging! Give it some time and see. You're doing great and I agree that volume is important with weight training. Progressive overload is the name of the game...and there are several ways to achieve it. :) do what works for you!! And mixing…

Today: Squats: 2x5@45, 1x5@95, 1x5@160-felt heavy so deloaded to 155... 2x5@155 better forth and depth. :) OHP: 2x5@45, 3x5@65!! DL: 1x5@135, 1x5@165, 1x5@135. Hit 165 finally!!
