Try switch from regular soda to diet or sparkling water. I found when I tried to quit that I was more addicted to the carbonation than the soda itself. You can also try going for healthier options at fast food places (grilled chicken, apple slices instead of fries, etc.). As for coffee, I put whole milk in mine. It helps…

My next suggestion, then, would be to only weigh once a week, if not less. You'll see much less fluctuation and likely not get as disheartened.
-
Oh, man, if Dave's wasn't $6 a loaf, I'd eat it every day.
-
Oatmeal has some protein in it, but if you want to add more, you can add some nuts or nut butter, some protein powder, or as someone suggested above, bake it with an egg.
-
Weigh at the same time every day, and, honestly, strip down if you have to to avoid heavy clothing messing it up.
-
Also, OP, you should definitely look into getting a pneumonia vaccine from now on.

This is the WORST. I popped a rib out of place last year when I got bronchitis, and now it pops out every time I have a cold. My best advice is don't do exercises that put too much strain on those areas until you're better, and maybe also do some recovery exercises (a.k.a. exercises that are specifically for helping you…

I'm in the exact same boat, right now. As someone who has been prone to such infections since birth, I can tell you 3 things: 1) protein is your friend, now more than ever (I don't know why, but it always makes me feel way better); 2) STAY HYDRATED, this one is directly from a doctor and specifically about helping clear…

You do you, OP, and if it doesn't work, then try something else. If anything, I'd recommend going for diet soda or sparkling water, just to help with the transition. Also, instead of cutting out meat completely, try cutting out just red meat. Go for chicken and fish. If you're really set on cutting out meat, though, eggs…

You're right, no one here's a doctor, but I sure see a lot of people trying to claim that their way is the only way. If this person want to cut stuff out of their diet to live a healthier lifestyle, let them. If it doesn't work for them, they'll come back and ask for new suggestions.
-
Not everyone in these forums has gotten this memo.
-
Y'all never seem to take binge eating disorders into account when telling people not to cut things out of their diets.

One of the few budget cooking blogs out there that's actually budget.

The closer you live to where things are produced, the cheaper they're going to be. Some people don't live close to any "seasonal local veg". Also, food deserts exist.
-
That entirely depends on where you live, and there have been studies that prove it absolutely does cost more to eat healthy, particularly in food deserts. That being said, if someone has the time to prep and cook meals and doesn't live somewhere where healthy foods are out of reach, cost or distance-wise, then it is…

I'm kind of envious. I much prefer the taste of Pepsi Max but just don't dare drink it with the ginseng.
-
That totally wasn't directed at you, or anyone in particular, to be honest. I've just seen a lot of people around lately who seem averse to all fats, and I made an ill-placed comment in reaction to that.

LOL, "kitten" is not what I wrote. I didn't even write a bad word! It was cr*ppy. You're absolutely right, it is just the other side of the coin. For one particular friend, it was further complicated by the fact that she had an abusive parent while suffering from undiagnosed autism as a child, making a diagnosis later in…
-
I have heard the exact opposite of this, tbh, particularly in women, which is why I think self-diagnosis is still a really powerful tool. People who had diagnosis after diagnosis, none of which seemed to really fit or do them any good when treated, only to read up on ASD and autism and have a sudden "aha" moment, realizing…

Sometimes, you just get a dud. For example, I got a brand new iPod for graduation in 2008, dropped it from a few inches up onto the ground a few days later, and it completely died. The replacement they gave me is still working. That being said, it's pretty much just a really fancy pedometer, which is why it may not log…

3.3 GB?! I definitely think that's a glitch. Mine takes up 120 MB. Does it change any if you restart your phone?

Study after study after study has proven that there is no link, and the only people this sort of thing is pandering to are those who think a child having autism is worse than a child contracting a deadly yet entirely preventable disease. Furthermore, it has real-world consequences, which is precisely what caused them to…

That's what their statement says, but at the end of the article, it says that their current Strategic Plan includes the following: "Autism Speaks is funding studies on the underlying biology of autism, including studies to better understand medical and genetic conditions that are associated with autism that could…

Everyone should try a half an avocado (still in the peel) with plain greek yogurt in the pit hole and some honey drizzled on top, FYI.

Oh, I agree with what you were trying to say. What I'm saying is that I wouldn't trust a single word coming from that organization. If nothing else, they support the idea that vaccines cause autism. I would also like to point out that some autistic people (particularly women) don't so much grow out of those criteria as…

Please don't. Autism Speaks is a terrible organization. Almost none of their money actually goes to helping autistic people, and every autistic person I know and every awareness organization I know that's run by actual autistic people despises them.

Looks like. Like I said, I often forget that tone doesn't come through in text, and that I really should be more precise in what I say.
