  • Flashing some jazz hands at my photographer after completing a Warrior Dash this past spring.
  • I do a lot of interval training and I wear a quality HRM. My monitor always comes back with a higher reading than MFP. My monitor reads about 60+ calories higher than what MFP will give me. I've wondered if I'm exercising too hard as my heart rate is usually in my max range during all cardio, but I don't feel bad and to…
  • We follow the Primal Blueprint which has some similiarities to Paleo. We don't eat grains, but there are no restrictions on vegetables and fruit. The first month was hard to follow as we didn't know how to eat without pasta and bread, but now it's really pretty simple. We did suffer in the first couple of weeks with the…
  • May 5th in New Mexico!! My husband and I can't wait. We've never done it before either so we'll see how it goes. I do lots of circuit training so I think I'll be good there and I can run the miles without stopping, but that doesn't necessarily mean I will be running them fast. :) I think it's going to be a blast!!
  • We eat grain free and we feel so much better. My eczema is gone along with a rash that I always had on the back of my arms. Joint pain that I thought I would just have to live with is no longer. I still eat as many calories as anyone else but the weight peels off and I don't have to work as hard to get the same weight and…
  • You look fantastic!! You've done a great job!
  • What's funny is that we bought a bigger fridge after we started eating primal! We have a very large pantry that is now pretty bare. There are four of us and after a trip for a week's worth of groceries we didn't have enough room in the fridge for all of the fresh food we brought home.
  • We have scrambled eggs with cheese and sausage just about every morning. We eat low carb and get most of our sugar from fruits and veggies. We buy the precooked sausage crumbles and you can just throw them in or buy a pkg and crumble and cook it up yourself in advance to save a bit of money. It's usually cooked and eaten…
  • Make sure you're getting a good source of carbs from fruits and vegetables and not refined sugars and grains and you'll be able to see it start shrinking. If I get on a sugar/carb binge, the waist is the first thing to grow, but also the first to shrink when I get back on track and cut out sugars and grains. Hope this…
  • My husband and I went Primal about a month and a half ago. It has definitely gotten easier. I found that initally I couldn't do even my regular exercise because I was so tired from the "carb flu", but once that was out of the way, I can exercise like normal. I've noticed that I don't have to work as hard to get the same…
  • In your personal settings, you should be able to change from male to female. I have the FT4 and my husband used it a couple of times before he got his own. We just had to adjust the settings. Whatever you got should work fine after changing the settings and a men's may just be a difference in the size of the watch and the…
  • I recently read an article in a fitness mag where they asked Jillian Michaels how to break through a plateau and she recommended taking a couple days off from exercise and increasing your calorie intake by 10% on those days. She said that usually kicks things back in to gear. A few years ago while doing Weight Watchers I…
  • Mine did the exact same thing yesterday and I've only had it long enough to use it for 4 workouts. I pressed ok and it reset and then did the same thing again. I finally recorded my time and calories, took it off, re-wet the strap and started over. It worked the rest of the time and I didn't have any problems today. I…
  • I'm at 5'7 1/2 also. I'm currently at 153. I'd love to hit 140, but I'd be super happy with 145. I think much lower than 140 is getting too thin.
  • Yesterday was Day 15/Level 1 & NMTZ--Made it through without having to modify, but it sure was killer.
  • Day 12 Boost--Easier than last week's Boost, but I still dread it. Sure was hard to get out of bed this morning with that to look forward to. I always feel really good after throughout the entire day after getting my heart pumping good first thing in the morning with this workout.
  • I really hate mountain climbers and surrenders. Like you said, I can do them, but I hate it the whole time. I'm finding that i really enjoy the last two circuits on the mat in NMTZ the best.
  • Day 11-Level 2 So much better than two days ago. Boost is in the morning and I'm gonna have to psych myself up for that one. Ughh!
  • Day 10-NMTZ Was a good day all around. I think my knees were just sore from using them differently. I feel much better today. Here's to Level 2 tomorrow. Already not looking forward to Boost on Friday.
  • Day 9-Level 2...It really sucked today. I was doing level 3 before i started the challenge and Level 1 was getting easy, but today Level 2 kicked my rear. I thought my knees were getting stronger and that's why I wasn't having much pain with them, but they have been killing me all day. Hopefully they are just sore. I…
  • I haven't noticed, but I will pay more attention come Friday....maybe that's why it's so daunting. ;)
  • @Reeldancer--come on in--the more the merrier!
  • Day 8-30 DS Level 1--This seemed so easy today compared to yesterdays NMTZ. When I first started Banish Fat over a year ago, it was killer on my knees so I made some minor modifications to some of the jumping moves (no twisting) to ease the stress. Now that I've been doing 30 DS and NMTZ I find that I don't need to modify…
  • Skipped yesterday while I was trying to clean house for company, but did yesterday's workout today instead. NMTZ was much better today than a few days ago and I've already begun to lose some inches and I lost 5 lbs this week. So excited!
  • Day 5/Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism--Boost was just as exhausting as I remembered it, but I made it all the way through. I have always hated circuit 6 and found I still feel the same way. However, I feel fantastic today! It's like I can feel my body burning calories thoughout the entire day. Love this feeling!
  • Day 4-30 DS Level 1....My legs are definitely sore, but it really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I haven't done Boost in a few weeks and I really am not looking forward to it especially being as sore as I am. It's going to be tough and I can foresee heading to work with my face still red in the morning.…
  • You will need Jillian Michael's three videos---30 Day Shred, No More Trouble Zones, and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. They are all worth it and run about $10-$12 a piece in stores, but may be cheaper online.
  • Day 3-NMTZ. All I can say is ouch, but it was good. Just about the time I thought I couldn't do anymore with my legs she moved to the floor...thank goodness. Walking pretty gingerly now, but as long as I keep moving my legs don't hurt as bad. We'll see how I feel in the morning when it's time for lunges again. WooHoo!!
  • Day 2--The workout was good, but I did have some soreness this afternoon. Did deeper lunges and squats and I definitely pay for it when I try to get up after sitting down for a little while. We'll see how NMTZ feels in the morning!!
  • Day 1...No too shabby!
