  • I find on days I stay off grains and sodium, I do a lot better. I can't go without meat at all, and sugar really makes me crave more carbs the rest of the day. Something like celery with sunflower butter is my perfect food, good carbs, good fats, and protein. Also getting enough protein is really hard, but that helps too.
  • I get hypoglycemic on just juice, but if I have broth as well that helps considerably, and my liver and digestive system very much appreciate the break.

  • mean-spir·it·ed adjective adjective: mean-spirited; adjective: meanspirited inconsiderate and unsympathetic. "he's an egotistical, mean-spirited, abusive man" Well Op, there will be no more discussion so I leave you to it. Expect cat gifs in abundance. I'm trying to decide if I should just continue to "ignore user" these…
  • There seems to be a basic disconnect between what people think about the definition of fitness on this site. To some it means health, mental, physical, and spiritual. To others it seems to be the easiest way to lose a minimum of pounds (always less than 50) while maintaining as much of their lifestyle choices as possible.…
  • I cook on the stovetop. Makes my eyes water but I love the smell. Let's see, 2 lbs ground buffalo browned 2 12 oz cans crushed tomatoes 2 cans tomato paste Lots a chili powder, it has power so I think about love and power as I pour it. Cumin, again just lots, cannot be overdone a pinch or two or three of salt, with the…
  • Diet Mountain Dew has both caffeine and aspartame. For the caffeine a reduction method I used was to take an excedrin (containing aspirin and caffeine), and cut it in tiny little pieces. Half a piece smaller everyday. This forestalls the caffeine headache. Then eventually you forget to take it. There are many on this site,…
  • How you doin? Gonna make it one more day? I'm rooting for you:flowerforyou:
  • Hey, I'm in Sarasota. I don't really diet, I just make sure I'm at a little deficit. I've got liver disease so I have to take it slow. Every time I've ever dieted I gained it all back with extra. Wow it's still really hot huh, we got half the rain we were supposed to this year, and are just getting summer pattern rains now…
  • Combat skills, my dad was a ranger. My mom was a conman, conperson? She taught me things like if you want to sell a lie make it a doozy. They also made me memorize hundreds of verses from the bible and learn the tax code when I was little. Seems strange but it has actually come in handy more than once. I love them, but my…
  • Sixty-six weeks, that should be doable if you stick with it. Good luck. I'm really just here to discuss health and fitness, not hold people accountable. But, you should find lots of people who enjoy the "tough love" approach. The place seems to be crawling with them. I wish you the best. :flowerforyou:
  • Whenever I lift I get thinner and start to be able to eat whatever I want. Which is nice. Then I tear a rotator cuff or tear a tendon. Then, I can barely move at all. So this time I am trying to really build endurance, flexibility and stamina. I've put the summer into that. Now, I'm gonna start with a trainer for a couple…
  • Usually you find you are doing so much walking, swimming, etc and there are no habit cues for bored eating etc that its ok.
  • My grandma had one going on the stove everyday. Made her seem like a serious cook. Chugga Chugga Chugga I don't think they can blow up anymore. Pressure valve or something.
  • ^^^^ Way to take up space. I love this.
  • I didn't have a scale for years cause one of my kids has an eating disorder, but DH said we should get one as I've stuck with this about a month, and everyone in the house gets on it every time we go to the restroom.
  • Hey Raven here, been sober since Dec 19, 2011. Lost function in a third of my liver. I'm trying to make permanent changes to reverse that. I really love exercise, but I have been staying in the pool to keep from injuring myself which has been a pattern for me. I tend to overdo everything. Went to the gym today for the…
  • This entire post is a remarkable tool for clearing the stressful off MFP for me. It is win/win.
  • I grew up in West Virginia in the seventies. My grandparents and my dad both ate traditional Appalachian fare. My mom was a drug/addict anorexic who liked store bought, microwaveable foods. So we bounced back and forth between - Sunday dinners with rolls, fresh corn, green beans we'd stringed, fresh fruit pies, meats from…
  • Let me know how it goes, ya'll. I'm in the pool now, but planning for colder weather. Do you think Insanity is hard on the knees, and ankles?
  • Fish oil has calories. Wow. I was about to say I log everything, but I guess not. I don't log tea, tell me that doesn't have calories, too. :ohwell:
  • It's a way of dancing to music and using your body against the water as resistance. It looks easy but it is not. Whoa, they are really good at getting to the core muscles in the pool. Torturous, but good, and the calorie burn is amazing.
  • or maybe... :flowerforyou:
  • My doctor told me "oh you can't lose weight, neither can I, you'd have to go on like 800 calories, or exercise 4 hours a day" and this is a guy you have to wait 6 months to see, as everyone likes him. Whatever, smile and nod, good advice from long ago...
  • If I don't get right up and in the pool, I get sluggish and tired, and REALLY, REALLY hungry:tongue: On the other hand working out at night right before bed sometimes works too, but either way I can't workout with food in my stomach. :flowerforyou:
  • Good to know. Hate to have another experience ruined by the dysfunctional. That way but for the grace go I, you know. I'm here recovering from liver disease, and the last thing I need is to hear people justify venting anger and alcoholism, and stumping for factory farmed/sugar industry cao dung. I do hate to see them…
  • The point I am trying to make, and has been made by several others, quietly, patiently, is Why oh Why would we hang around for this? I come here for support and information about weight loss, and to share some of my data gleaned from my experience as a scientist, and mother. I have lost weight several times, and I have a…
  • I would love for you to share an example of someone here "putting someone down" without being provoked. Look back over these six pages. No one is offering invalid diet information. No one is saying sugar is the devil. I have been told my argument is invalid, and I have not presented an argument. I have seen several other…
