When I lost 40 lbs I found a lump in my midsection. I showed the doc, and he ran a few tests. He then come up to me and says, "I have confirmed my suspicions. What you have is a penis."

If you give up quickly, nothing we tell you here is going to help. If your issue in weight loss is that you give up quickly, I would bet sure as Sam Houston shootin' that you have problems elsewhere in your life with this same cause. Maybe your next help needs to come from a therapist that really knows what's going on.

Not sure what the whole pill thing is all about. Eat what your body needs, and you never need a supplement of any sort. That luxury comes with education, though, and education takes effort. To the OP: if you are looking to a pill for losing weight, you are trying to lose weight the wrong way. You can't call it a lifestyle…

You dont need that much fiber, and there are plenty of foods that have it. Your daily fiber amount can come from an avocado and a salad, for instance (or an avocado salad!). No need to jump to the Metamucil if you can learn what foods have fiber.

What was your daily exercise and activity level like?

In the land of "I dont care what your results are, you are wrong"? Good luck.

"Choice for life" is an anecdotal phrase that gets overused. It is saying "I am going to do this for the rest of my life!" Yeah, right. What will stick is knowing what foods give the body the nutrients it needs for different situations. Right now, I am eating more fat (not ketogenically). That will change as my body,…

Whey protein in coffee? That's a new one...how does heat affect the whey, and what is the consistency of the finished product? I might try that.

Yes, take advice from the guy that doesn't make breakfast. Lol I jest. Society is funny.

I am a bit confused by a vegetarian meal being called "ribs." What's the point? I kind of liken this to a woman dating a very masculine one. So, you don't like men, but you use a *kitten* and date women that look like men?

I will be using my University's gym for weights-only during my half-marathon/marathon training. Reason being that I live in Arizona, where the Earth is beautiful running ground. Tons of trails, and less CO2 than my previous home, CA. If one can do it naturally, why do it artificially?

I am living evidence that you can out-exercise a "bad" diet. Every food is a fuel source, bottom line. And the ONLY way for the body to metabolize that fuel properly is through physical activity. Of course..."bad" is subjective. I eat a diet most wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. We are engineered like dogs. Dogs…

If you watch Hollow Man, you can see his penis... Just saying. Awesome Crichton book. Why they had to insert Bacon's penis, I dont know. But it's there...

I played 500 as a kid. Anyone else?

Not that significant of changes? Who told you that? Baby boomers were engineered for war through the school systems. JFK made PE a priority as a way to make 18 year olds physically ready for military-grade endurance. They didn't have devices like today. Their entertainment was all outdoors, hardly ever indoors. Today, PE…

2/3 of American society is linked to obesity.

I believe that no matter the book, the one broad focus of any of them is creating a hypothesis for why modern society got so out of shape so fast, and what is the best method of changing our eating habits when our lifestyles will not change? In contrast to our ancestors, we are primarily a sedentary society, and food is…

Indeed. However, the conflict comes in when people who are in NK do not typically eat in 4-5 hour periods, as the production of grehlin is suppressed due to fat content of meals. The period of anabolic protein synthesis, according to his data, lasts for about 1.5-3 hours, and then it reaches a catabolic state, requiring…

And I am going to rewatch Dr. Layman's report of his clinical trials on protein synthesis, while eating some meat and cheese. I might have a couple questions for him (he responds to email, as he is a professor at the university where his lab is. How's THAT for a first-source?).

I generally go with personal experience and will be trying things out. Moore (or Westman) says that too much protein can be bad for ketosis. However, Dr. Donald Layman's research on protein shows evidence that a certain protein threshold is needed for muscle maintenance or growth (which contain specified amounts of the…

The twist in the plot? ;-)

We carnivores need more of you in this world. No, seriously. Supply push economics would make the equilibrium price of beef go down! :-) Also, since cows and pigs live a long time (and therefore a longer reproduction period), the world protein supply would increase, so long as the soils hold up... That topic is of interest…

...your math is a bit off. You might want to clarify.

I live with an overweight guy, who is 34 and has gout. He continues to feed himself the same crap that got him where he is: high fructose corn syrup. I am trying to help him change his nutrition, so we will see how that goes. I eat high fat low carb, with enough protein to build muscle through one researcher's method. I…

Bumping this once, to see if there are any others that have similar goals! And, if you are looking for similar friends, post here to keep it going! :-)

Whoop for the teachers!! I am a Junior at Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU! My major: Sec. Ed! :-) I am not trying to lose weight, but could definitely help a teacher out. I am a geology major (the focus), but I have a wealth of knowledge and resources on nutrition. I consider it my first hobby. Add me if you like.…

People on that level have very little intellect. You are better than that, so don't stoop to that level. It won't matter much to him, because he will just look for someone else to taunt. Just do you. He may have been the catalyst, but you are the fuel. Do it for yourself. Just like quitting smoking: if you do it for…
