• I'm 5"4 and female and my TDEE is more than 2000 .... that's just your DH's daily expenditure to maintain ... my BF is 6"2 and he needs at least 3300, mine is more like 2300... You may need to make some adjustments in your portion sizes or types of foods. It's not too hard to make substitutes for basics like pasta so he…
• Hi Sylvie, I don't know how much 'stones' are but I wish you all the best this year and I think you can totally do this :) Heather
• Whaaaat we're watching reality shows and expecting actual reality? ;) I missed part of it due to work but FWIW... new boy trainer and new girl trainer are lovely eye candy. I like the former athlete angle because how many of us haven't gotten on the scale and said "How the F*** did I let this happen?!"
• It doesn't affect everyone the same way, I have years of extended breastfeeding under my belt (well, now under my boobs which is now closer to my belt than I'd like to admit). If you're boxing, you need to have tough skin. She does. You see that as rude but you don't see your own behaviour as rude. Maybe there are other…
• I totally hear ya! I make a wicked homemade bread and feed it to my kids ... and now that it's Back To School time... they'll have yummy sandwiches. It's hard not to eat the whole loaf!
• That comment wasn't about you ... it was about her. Clearly.
• I think nutrition is VERY important to losing weight. I think you should try it her way and don't cheat for even just a month... and see if she's right. I spent years trying to train myself into a more slender (but still strong) body and it wasn't until I hooked up with my trainer (who works in the same industry, but only…
• I would up your water intake significantly. I drink 3.5L of water per day.
• My trainer has me do the same type of plan **but only for one week** then I'm back to a more manageable macro ratio. My week usually includes: DRY CHEESE CURDS mixed in with Greek Yogurt Lean white fish Salmon Eggs & Egg whites Turkey slices Cheese Isoflex Whey Protein shakes
• With all due respect ... I transport a lot of "jolly old" men who are unfortunately quite sick or slowly dying due to comorbidities associated with being overweight. So he might not have regrets NOW ... I've never wanted to be THIN. I want to be strong and lean. And I enjoy the challenge of feeding my body good things with…
• First, I'm really sorry that happened to you. Second, you have a few choices: 1 you could talk to management, depending on the gym, they may have a policy about that. At the very least they should have supportive staff that will either step in or talk to you for a few moments to help you through it. 2. You could say…
• You ladies are doing great! :) I'm not pregnant but I've had two kids and can tell you that weight gain and loss are different for everyone, so please don't be hard on yourselves if you gain more than you think you should. When I breastfed my first I dropped 25 lbs in less than 2 weeks, but when I tried to repeat that with…
• There is no way that ONE WAY TO EAT is right for every single person. To the OP, I'd say read up on the topic, try to be objective, ask for advice from those who do it, try weed out the BS ... For example, I know plenty of people who swear up and down that they are TOTALLY 100% PALEO ... but enjoy a beer or two ;) ... not…

• No, this is called participating in a discussion. But someone AT WORK, getting paid in a CUSTOMER SERVICE position, can think all they want, but NO, they should not comment on their customers' purchases TO THE CUSTOMER.
• No, I see my food as fuel, as far as I'm concerned they are calories of awesomeness and are just as important as calories of exercise spent!
• I'm just under 5'4" :)
• Per my trainer's rules... if I eat lean for 6 days, I get a cheat meal, but nothing too crazy... like my regular light supper and then a cheat dessert... But at the moment I'm working at a calorie deficit and the reason for the cheat meal is to stop my body from adjusting my metabolism .... I spent a decade getting fat by…

• Whenever I teach teenagers, I try find the kid who's being the biggest "I'm way too cool for this hahaha" guy in the class and then make him do 2 minutes of really good compressions while I talk... they always leave sweaty handprints!
• This thread is like two cultures colliding lol.. I'm an EMT, I totally get it. It's not callous, it's practical. It's reality. It's what EMS people see all the time that regular people don't. There are many more examples of how we take things in stride and treat as normal that would be very odd to others. I'd probably log…
• I don't drop the bar because it would do me no good... I lift properly so I can do my job at work (in EMS) what the hell good is it for me to be able to pick a patient up if I can't put a patient down without hurting myself?? I don't really know what my max is for a deadlift ... but my partner and I can lift a 250lb man on…

• I have been on a lower carb/high protein "thing" for a few days... am only staying on it for a week as my trainer (and I) prefer a much more balanced lifestyle... but it's haaaaard.... I did learn that dry cottage cheese curds have 2x the protein, and if you put them in greek yogurt you can even choke them down ;)
• I use one because I like to make my own food and if I haven't tried something before I want to measure it out to ensure I have the correct portions/servings ... it's more like a learning tool for me than something I'm going to live and die on :)
• I am IN LOVE with the Latvian goalie ... he was fricking amazing ... someone sign that guy!
• I love watching this because the women's team plays in the league that I was a hockey trainer for ... so "my boys" have played against Team Canada a few times (and won a couple!) and it's like watching people I know play hockey! It was definitely a nail-biter at the end there! GO CANADA!
• I've definitely had some obsessions about this lately. And I KNOW everything you said ... I just still WANT TO SEE a smaller number. Initially I started so that I would stay focused on making good choices that day. Always weighed myself in the same state, at the same time of day. But it soon morphed into a way to beat…
• I don't think judging anyone's expert-ness by their weight is valid at all... You could BOTH be right because when it comes down to it, there are different ways to "lose weight" based on your goals!
• $2 jug of milk?! That jug, here in Calgary, Alberta would cost $5.67 ... and I know because I just bought it. And yes, that's the Walmart price. What my family eats is based entirely on what's on sale. We eat as healthy as we can but we can't go broke doing it. We buy frozen fruit instead of fresh, which rumour has it ..…
•
However did our palaeolithic ancestors survive without vitamins pills then?
..... Sure ... I think they lived to the ripe old age of 35 for men and 30 for women. I'm shooting for a much higher number.
• I'm trying that ... but it's difficult when you a) have no refrigeration and may be out for 12-14 hours and b) the same place you keep your lunch is where people puke and bleed and spew nastiness ... (I work on an ambulance) What ends up happening is I end up trying to find a place to eat between calls, and ditching my…
