Most accurate calorie calculation?
What - in your opinion - is the most accurate way to measure calories burned? Heart rate monitor that will tell you the calories? If so... which one do you use? Is there an app I'm missing out on? I'm starting to work out more at home when my schedule is crunched and I really hate guesstimating the calories I'm burning...…

Best Meal Replacement Shake?
Hey all, Any recommendations for the best tasting meal replacement shake? I much prefer to eat food ... but I work shift work and often find myself in a situation where I'm not able to make or take food with me, so having something very portable (and able to stay clean...) is a bonus.... unfortunately most of the "add…

Balancing the Crazy
I've been doing pretty good with eating and working out. I have lost 40 lbs, most before I started with MFP. Then in the last two months, the wheels fell off (well, I stopped some medication due to side effects) and I have put on 10 lbs. Also, it's the winter and my work has been crazy and I'm on the go almost constantly…

Recipe review - Oxygen magazine Sept 2012 - Power Jam
This recipe has 3 ingredients: strawberries, banana powder, and chia seeds. It is very tasty! Even my kids will eat it... :) But don't get me started on the post-workout power bars in the same mag, I think I did something wrong or ... they just aren't good. Heather

Aria Scale - WTF

It's set up, it shows in my account as connected... but then I weigh myself and it won't sync. Gives me a wifi symbol with an X overtop, as though my wifi doesn't work... REALLY? Then how did…

too few calories... too many hours!
I think I figured out why I'm having difficulty these days. Too few calories (1430) to spread out over my 18 hour days! Well, not too few, I know that's what I need to eat to lose weight... but I'm so busy with work and kids and such that I'm up at 0530 and in bed at 2300 most nights... I need to find some foods that will…

Am I sedentary or lightly active?!?
So if I'm lightly active, I get 1420 cal. If I'm sedentary, I get 1280. That loss of 140 calories makes a big difference! I work a lot of shift work because I have about 4 different jobs... and am often sedentary at my main job. But as a hockey mom, EMT and volunteer... I'm on the go. I got off of a sedentary night shift…

I love my physio...
So I went to the physiotherapist for the first time because when I run more than about a mile and a half, I end up with a sore hip for days... I love him! He's an old guy, a self-described "old physio" and it was hilarious how quickly he had me pegged... within 15 minutes he told me I was a "rules gal"... I totally am,…

Hi from Calgary
Hi all, I've been a member for a few months, but have never posted an intro. I'm a mom of two and I have multiple jobs and a husband... and an ex-husband, but who is really counting here.... so I'm busy :) I am a writer and blogger (www.redwritinghood.ca) and I started a new career in emergency services last year after…
