  • I have been on and off MFP for years. Currently going through a divorce and my self esteem is very low. Started a diet a few weeks ago and lost some weight, but need support from a community. Please feel free to contact me. We can support each other!
  • Thank you! Will do!
  • I am going through a similar situation. I broke off my engagment 6 weeks ago. Not because I wanted to, but because I had to. It completely sucks. I have days where I am okay, days where I am angry and days when I cry. I'm like an emotional roller coaster. To add insult to injury...I recently found out he has been dating…
  • First off let me just say...LOL...your post was so funny and that is exactly how I feel!! I have been dieting and exercising and have not lost a pound in 3 weeks! But I am not giving up! And I am sure you will not either! Because even if we didn't lose weight, we are still making healthy choices, and that is never a bad…
  • Five years ago I lost 50 lbs on a diabetic diet. I'm not a diabetic, but do have PCOS and a thyroid problem. They checked me for insulin resistance when I was diagnosed and it was negative but the diabetic diet still did wonders for me! The weight came off at a steady pace and I felt WONDERFUL! I was also exercising…
  • OMG that has to be so frustrating!! I agree with opening up your food diary. There are a lot of very nutritional savy people on this site and they will tell you what your pitfalls may be. Wish I could be of help, I am in the same boat...lol Haven't lost weight in almost 2 weeks...grrr...lol So I can sympathize. Keep me…
  • I quit a year ago. It was difficult. Especially during stressful times. I did gain weight, but I gave myself 6 months to not worry about it. Quitting smoking was so important to me, that a few months of gaining weight was worth it. Now, I am focusing on losing weight because I have the not smoking under control. And my…
  • Sounds corny but "Fighter" by Christina Aigulara...gets me pumped every time! Love this topic! Lots of great songs to add to my workout list! Great songs make me push harder in my workouts.
  • 5'8 and LOVE heels, but don't have the self confidence to wear them. I have tons of beautiful shoes in my closet that are just waiting until I lose weight and can take them out on the town...lol
  • I have to work on the fluid intake. Water is all I drink, but only about 3 glasses a day.
  • 5'8 205 lbs work out 3 x weekly Eat 1200-1400 calories daily.
  • How many of those Japanese have thyroid issues? Not saying that soy products are bad in general. Just that they should be avoided if a person has thyroid problems. Also, not saying having soy will effect everyone who has a thyroid problem...but why risk it? . As well, you say your thyroid level has been stable for 20+…
  • Sorry to keep posting, but I keep thinking of things...lol I was on a diabetic diet and felt wonderful. I am not a diabetic, but just wanted to try it and the low carbs (healthy only), no sugars, small frequent meals worked wonders for me. Not only did I lose weight, but I felt the best I had in years!!
  • Yes, I am an RN and soy is bad for your thyroid. As is eating out of plastic. They say that the thyroid is ultra sensitive to the chemicals in plastic. So if you can, especially if you microwave something, try glass, not the heavy plastic containers, no saran wrap (try a moist paper towel on top instead) and keep a glass…
  • I had Graves disease and then radiation which made me hypothyroid. Make sure as you are losing weight, you have your TSH levels checked every 6 weeks or so. Because you are dieting and exercising your dosage of synthroid may need to be adjusted (if you are on it). I only lost 5 lbs, but because of the change in my eating…
  • I am 37 and also 5"8 and my goal weight is 150 lbs. I think it is a very realistic goal. You look wonderful BTW!! Congrats!
  • I just broke off an engagement. It was the first time in my life I put myself first. It was the most difficult thing I have ever done. That gave me the confidence to start a whole life change. I am starting to put my needs before anyone else's. I want to feel healthy, happy and confident in who I am and what I look like.
  • Hmmm...maybe you are turning fat into muscle? Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you plateau for a few weeks that is usually what is happening. That always happens to me a few weeks into dieting and exercising, and then all of a sudden I start losing again.
