  • Ok, I had an appt with my substitute therapist this afternoon and I'm feeling a bit better. The situation hasn't really improved, but whatever... Anyhow, I might as well take control of at least one thing in my life so I'll try the weight loss thing again. As I've been out of the loop, and haven't had a chance to catch-up…
  • Found the new thread! Didn't even realize we were done with the last challenge. I guess I need to actually start reading the thread again. Anyhow, I didn't do my weekly weigh-in this past Friday as it was TOM and I've been avoiding my computer. Things have not been going particularly well as of late. The wife has been…
  • Weekly weigh-in... 234.6
  • Afternoon ladies! I haven't read anything since my last post, but will try to at some point. I've decided that I need to focus on some other things in my life right now, so my weight loss has had to take a backseat. I haven't been working out, which I know would probably serve me well right now if I were still doing it.…
  • Hosanna - I feel you on trying to eat well while working night shift. I recently got off the night shift and the only reason snacking wasn't a problem was I wasn't allowed to leave my room/desk. So, if I didn't bring it I didn't eat it. It did make it difficult if I forgot food. Woohoo - someone else that calls them cheese…
  • Weigh-in from Friday... 234.2 Grr... up from last week, but down from 237.0 earlier this week. I haven't touched my computer in almost a week, basically because I didn't have to. I sometimes have to take these little vacation from technology. Unfortunately, I've also seemed to take a break from eating well and exercising.…
  • I'm alive. Haven't had time to respond or even read. Hopefully, I'll get a chance later this evening. Thinking of you all.
  • Weigh-in... 233.8 Amy - Actually after the last couple weeks of being around each other 24/7 I think we are both looking forward to at least one of returning to work and being 2 hrs away for a few days a week even sounds appealing. In all honesty though, I know it will be difficult, but it's nice to know that it can work.…
  • Pam - The wife is all for it. She doesn't like the idea of me being several hours away any more than I do, but she feels like she is holding me back by wanting to take care of her grandparents. She had been telling me to do this for the last year, we just weren't in a position for it to actually work. Amy - I know 32 isn't…
  • Amy - If anything good has come of this entire situation with the in-law grandparents it's that my M-I-L has realized how much work is involved in taking care of the elderly and has told the wife on a number of occasions that she doesn't want to put her kids through the same stress. Unfortunately, she has done nothing or…
  • rain - Given my current situation, I'm open to just about anything, but my area of experience and real passion is theatre management, i.e. marketing, budgeting, fundraising, patron services. If I were in Chicago, I would have LOTS of options, but we are sticking around Central Illinois because the wife's grandpa was…
  • Lacey - I never really got into Sex & the City. Sarah Jessica Parker just drives me batty. I'm with you on the being overwhelmed. It just totally shuts me down. Hosanna - For the wedding registry maybe you could suggest things that would be "upgrades" on items you already own. Yes, I own cookware, but they are mis-matched…
  • I'm beginning to think I may have to get a job just for social interaction. This is the first day that I've been in the house alone since I quit and I'm beginning to feel like a recluse already. Wish I had the car so I could go somewhere. I'd ride my bike somewhere and read, but that would require riding over an extremely…
  • Ok, a little more procrastination... This whole discussion about gifts has me thinking about the whole bridal shower/wedding gift thing. Most of my friends are married and have received gifts from me. I'm 32 and have never been married. (The wife and I are not technically married nor have we had a ceremony. I would like…
  • Happy Birthday KatheryneLynne! Welcome to all the newbies! Monday check-in... 2988 burned / 1862 consumed / 1126 deficit - Exercise: strength training, 45 min Zumba, 35 min water aerobics. I was going to attempt to respond to everyone, but it's just too much. I have read through ALL 10 pages of posts now and feel like I'm…
  • Weigh-in... 235.6 Amy - Have you tried shadow boxing? I've heard it can be a great cardio workout. I've read the first five pages of this thread and have to stop and go work out. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back on this evening and get caught up. Thinking of all of you and wishing I had the time to respond.
  • I just have time to jump on, find the new thread, and bump! Things have been hectic, eating hasn't been great, and little to no exercise. I'm almost back to where I was at the beginning of the last challenge. Grrr. The nieces are still in town until Friday evening, then I'm watching my nieces Friday night and have friends…
  • I like a couple egg whites with some shredded cheddar or mozzarella and Mrs. Dash Southwest Chipotle seasoning.
  • I had custom orthotics made in high school. I was still using them off and on up until about a year ago, I'm 32 now. I was not aware that they could wear out until I saw a sports medicine guy about 5 years ago, but he said mine were still in good/decent shape. I wore them pretty much all the time for several years, but…
  • Netflix Instant has it. I'm definitely adding it to my queue.
  • You need to add some strength training.
  • I had a similar problem with my breathing when I started working out, got worse when I started running. I gave up the running for a number of reasons, but I've continued with the other cardio and it has gotten much better. Not sure what to tell you about the shoulder. If both persist I would recommend seeing your doctor.
  • If you are working out for 3 hours in the evening that may be your problem. I find that exercising before I try to sleep causes nothing but sleeplessness. Can you switch to working out in the morning for a week and see what happens?
  • I couldn't make it past page 2 on that thread. It is a further example of why I both loathe and love the Internet, as it seems to bring the worst and the best out of people usually not coming from the same individual. For me it is hard to read and see the hate and self-righteousness that spews from some individuals and I…
  • My gym has an arm bike, if you go to a gym you could see if they have one. Also, you could try shadow boxing or anything that works your upper body. My understanding is that upper body cardio can actually increase your HR quicker than lower body cardio.
  • That's awesome! I wish I could ride a bike to work since I only live 2.5 miles away, but the only path there is an extremely dangerous business route highway with no sidewalk, no bike lane, no shoulder and zero room between speedy traffic and a guard rail. Plus, I'd be riding at like 10p so I'd just be increasing my…
  • I know some people are not big fans of cottage cheese, but I like Fiber One cottage cheese. 1/2 cup is only 80 calories with 10g of protein and 5g of fiber. Pair it with some fruit and good to go.
  • My grandma used to make these all the time, but she used saltines. I like the idea of using oats instead. Great substitution!
