I've never been a great sleeper.. What do you do to help get yourself to sleep?? I'm at a loss! I've tried prescription, warm milk, teas, herbs.... I don't know what else to try?

Play soft music in the background, a sleeping mask and count in my head..it works.0

Try working out till your exhausted and see if that helps at all. Merely a suggestion.0

I lay down. Approx 10 seconds later, I am asleep. Every night. Always.
I love it.0 -
A really hard workout during the day and a little vodka. Just a couple of shots. Does the trick for me. Most people don't like the taste of straight vodka.0

I heard a doctor on the radio saying a good way is to lie still and concentrate on keeping your eyes open. I guess it's a bit of reverse psychology but might be worth a try.0

@charger I already do but when I get back to my house, I'm wide awake!! I work out 3 hours every night!!!
@ Av hush hot stuff!!! Lol0 -
same problem. just keep laying there lol. nothing really helps ! I try thinking about fish. I know it's weird, but I just think of a fish tank with tropical fish ahaha.0

If you are working out for 3 hours in the evening that may be your problem. I find that exercising before I try to sleep causes nothing but sleeplessness. Can you switch to working out in the morning for a week and see what happens?0

A lot of women I know swear by Melatonin, apparently you can get it at walmart, Cvs, basically anywhere. They told me it knocks them out and it's non habit forming. I have not tried it yet but I will If I ever can't sleep0

reading a book
red wine and reading a book
But since I'm on Benadryl these days - sleeping is no problem. 1 has me nodding off, 2 and it's like a horse tranq.0 -
I had a wretched time trying to sleep for the longest time. Then I found PM Yoga. it's 15 minutes, some gentle stretching poses and then relaxation pose. It has really helped. I try to do it every night, although I don't always log it in since it's not alot of calorie burn... and more for my sanity. It kinda puts you into a relaxed place to sleep.
good luck!0 -
I can only work out in the evenings after I put my kids to bed. And I'm not one to drink much... I never slept even before I started all the working out at night.. It started as a teen and it's never left me..0

Methetree I will try it.... Maybe that will work.. I've tried melatonin already.. And prescriptions all made me feel like I was in a fog the next day so I couldn't work properly...0

I wear earplugs. I wake up to every small sound, and having it absolutely silent right before I go to sleep helps me relax.0

I have a hard time sleeping sometimes, so I use relaxation programs to sleep. I bought some on iTunes called lose weight with Andrew Johnson, and get fit with Andrew Johnson. They are hypnosis programs that begin with a relaxation technique that puts me out pretty well!0

Great sex, after that you will sleep great! I know it!0

I've heard that too and it was going to be my suggestion. I DO NOT however recommend using alcohol to fall asleep. Just not a good idea. Reading is a good options that always makes me tired. and I agree with switching your work out to earlier in the day, exercise always gives me energy. Good luck!0 -
are you tired because of it? Some people just don't sleep that much. maybe you are worrying to much about sleeping? I mean obviously this has been going on for some time, but maybe you just don't need a lot of sleep?0

I love it.
Thanks for rubbing it in.
I read. And read. And read some more until I just pass out. Works every time. It takes forever, I go through 3-4 heavy books a week reading halfway into the night, but thinking at night drives me crazy and this works, so, well, yea.0 -
I had a naturopath tell me to turn off all screens (tv, computer, phone, iPad, etc) 30 minutes prior to bed, take a relaxing shower or bath, then read/meditate/listen to soft music. When I'm having trouble getting to sleep (and staying asleep) I do this along with some melatonin tablets and some relaxing tea. Works every time!0

I have been told no TV for an hour before bed. If you need something to do, read a book.
Obviously, the more exercise you do during the day, the more tired you will be too0
