  • Great question, for which I don't have an answer. I just know that I wasn't seeing the results that I wanted and needed. I was still seeing spikes even after a meal that was exclusively protein and fat like bacon and eggs. No, I'm not using MCT oil. I've been using heavy cream exclusively to mix it.
  • Not quite. I was eating a very low carb diet without added sugar and struggling with glycemic control. The goal is certainly getting off medication and losing weight, but even without refined sugars in the low carb diet I wasn't meeting that goal. The Keto Chow has been very helpful in the glycemic control, even thought my…
  • I've been using Keto Chow as a meal replacement for the last couple months. This was mostly a decision made for convenience, since I'm also in school, and it takes food based decisions out of my daily calculus. I also really wanted to get off medications for diabetes, and I've been able to achieve that goal partially (I'm…
  • One other thing that you might want to watch, especially if you already maintain a pretty healthy diet overall, is how protein affects your numbers. Overdoing it on protein can also raise blood sugar (certain amino acids are glycogenic). One of my relatives who struggles to maintain blood sugar mentioned that eating a…
  • There is some evidence that large amounts of soy can induce early puberty, so it's not a myth. If you're eating very large amounts of soy (making up a very large percentage of your calories) it can have some influence on your health.
  • I'm not the person you asked, but some people avoid soy because it can affect hormone levels, specifically estrogen.
  • Got in my swim this morning. It's only been a few days back in the pool, and I had been easing in by doing backstroke. Today I did a half hour of freestyle (950 yards). It was nice knowing that my body remembered. I'm going to be building my stamina and yardage back up.

  • I've lowered my blood sugar over 100 points without medication. I'm still a bit over where I'd like to be, but I'm within striking distance of normal.

  • I'm a ribeye girl as well. Haven't seen it on sale recently, so haven't had it much recently. I got a prime rib and a strip roast on sale before Christmas, and I'm looking forward to defrosting them for a special occasion.

  • My first thought is that the company isn't necessarily marketing body positivity for women so much as highlighting a new offering. I'm a hiker, and the differences in available sizes for tech gear like down jackets and pants is extremely noticeable, at least it was when I bought mine several years ago. Women's sizes tend…

  • I've had mine for a little over a year, and I wear it daily. I find it can be really helpful for tracking workouts (I swim most days). It can be interesting to see how everyday activities add up in terms of calories and exercise. Tonight I was running late for an event and did some walking from the nearest parking garage.…
  • 1350 yard backstroke. I chose an audiobook from the library that is too funny to swim front crawl without drowning, so I'm getting lots of backstroke practice until I finish the book.
  • 1500 yards of front crawl today. I'm changing up my diet, so I'm not seeing too many gains at this point, but I'm making sure that I get in the pool everyday.
  • 1250 yards of backstroke. I hate having to be in the pool at 6 AM because of work, but my workout is done for today.
  • 1550 yards, but it felt like a kind of weak swim.
  • I think it's all about how you're looking at it. I'm about two weeks in, and my goal is 50 carbs per day, so it would be a fine day for me if I chose to do that. For those who are at lower carb goals it wouldn't meet their needs. Does it meet yours? Are you within your carb goal for the day or slightly above? If so, yep,…
  • Mine is set at 700, which I believe is the default that my watch came with. As long as I get my workout in I hit it. I find it hard to hit if I don't. My watch has suggested moving my goal down, but it has never suggested moving it up.
  • Did backstroke again today, 1300 yards. Tomorrow back to working on my front crawl.
  • @juliet3455 Thanks for the tips. My natural inclination is to swim backstroke the way I swim front crawl and bring my arm straight down, obviously this is not ideal for pulling in the water. I'm going to have to hit YouTube for videos on proper form.
  • Are you using the recipe builder to calculate the calories in your meals or are you using other people's recipes? It's always best to use the recipe builder so that you know the ingredients and calorie counts are accurate.
  • I did 1250 backstroke this afternoon. I'm trying to improve my technique and not bring my arms underneath me.
