  • The aria measures both body fat and weight using conductance I believe, and I found both to be inaccurate. I move my more basic scales in and out of storage all the time, but the tare function works and they give cosistantly the same weight. Others like the aria, me not so much, these are some of the cons of buying one.
  • I found the aria hopeless. It needs to be set up and out all the time to be most accurate, no putting it away. It varied hugely with water weight, to do with the way it measures. Something about measuring conductance not weight or something. I could get on and off five times over the space of 5 mins and it would be…
  • Thanks guys, lots for me to look at. Bumping for more suggestions too :)
  • Huh? The programs are exactly the same, except one you count calories and the other you count points. Oh yeah, and one is free....
  • "but why is it hard to lose weight and soo easy togain weight" Biochemistry. What you should be more concerned about is losing fat, not just the numbers on the scale. Right now the numbers on the scale are reflecting bloating (= water) because of all the salt you have eaten. Start eating sensibly again, eat less salty…
  • Thanks everyone, I will have a look for some of these.Always good to get some help on tis one before I spend lots of money! Anyone else with ideas?
  • My body reacts quite strongly to the hormonal shifts to do with monthly cycles. Nothing to do with more chocolate or less exercise at that time of month, but at around ovulation every month my weight goes up, and I lose again the following 3 weeks. I guess my body doesn't believe in steady and slow weight loss like yours…
  • Most people don't use the gym to keep fit. What sports did you used to do as a kid? Do you own a bike or good walking shoes? Far better to get out there and do something than lament the inability to join smelly noisy people in a smelly noisy place :)
  • :) Glad you got the answer you wanted :)
  • nope 1st pee of the day makes a huge difference. Be sure to update us, won't you :)
  • :) If you are pg then after implantation your body starts producing hcg, a hormone. Implantation can be around 10 days after ovulation, but earlier or later in some women. Some women produce a lot of hcg, others not so much, and it can be different between pregnancies depending on a myriad of factors. A pg test analyses…
  • 6 days late???? and newly wed....???? Hmm if a negative test tomorrow with the first pee of the morning then if I was you I would take a trip to the dr and have a blood test to rule pg in or out. (Personally I would say congrats... ;) )
  • How late are you? Sometimes pg tests don't come up +ve until a few weeks later... you can indeed be pg even if the test is neg, as the test is based on hormones which don't reach the critical concentration until later in some women. If you haven't had sex at any time in the previous month, and no swimmers got anywhere near…
  • There is far more to exercise than just a gym class. Of all the people that like to be active, gym classes are probably the minority way to do it. What *do* you like to do already? What did you used to do when you were 10 years old? Swimming is great - or any form of exercise at the pool - as it is easy on your joints.
  • It is only the celebs that get back down to prebaby weight in 10 mins flat. They also have a nanny or three, a chef, a personal trainer, and various other hanger onners - all they have to do is do the exercise and eat the meals provided. Back in reality land it ain't that simple or that quick. If you are determined to be…
  • So you are dealing with sleep deprivation, post birth hormones, and probably bfing, and dealing with a toddler learning to deal with a new sibling. Are you trying to be supermum or something? Why not relax, enjoy your new family, and keep logging at maintenance or 1lb loss if you can, when you can. If you can't give…
  • weight watchers is hard work. all those points to calculate, all the money to spend, branded foods to buy. mfp is easier, this website does the calculations, it is free so you can spend your money on the good food instead. What mfp does take is commitment. Doing it day in and day out. You don't need motivation as such,…
  • Not every month or so is it? Hormones can play havoc with your weight by scales, either at TOM or ovulation.
  • What do you eat before bedtime, and when? Do you turn all screens off a couple of hours before going to bed? Eg tv, pc, phone. Are you going to bed too early?
  • You haven't said when AF is due? That has a big bearing on my answer.
  • My condenscion brought out your defensiveness though. Sure you might have days that eating well that I didn't see, but getting defensive and excusing your binge days is not going to see you losing weight. If you look at cals in and cals out over a week or over a month, on average, what do you see? My guess is that all the…
  • Spend some time planning. Plan your meals for the day. have a look through recipe books, think of something you would like to create in the kitchen. Go back to your first week of logging and see how far you have come. Think about how you could change up your exercise. Do something for yourself that does not involve food or…
  • Three random days I opened in your diary... total cals 2516 total cals 1410 (all from one meal of nachos and fries, nothing else logged!) total cals 3521 two of those days were weekdays not weekends. So what do you need help with again?
  • How is drinking alcohol helping your fitness/weight loss goals?
  • TOM? hormones can make a big difference, and that is nothing to do with how you are eating.
  • I love option c. Presumably you have been able to afford or want to eat more food up until now? You haven't go to the size you have by eating 1600 calories a day, my guess is that you have been eating a lot more than that for a very long time.
  • Why is this a problem? In only six months you will be 52 pounds down! Heavens even 30 pounds will make a difference. Can you imagine how much better you will feel? How much more energy you will have? The good impact it will have on your health, your diabetes, your ability to live well and longer? And you will have learnt…
  • WW - you count points and you have to calculate them and it costs money. MFP - you count calories and the site does all the calculations and it is free.
  • The first week on calorie controlled I was starving hungry, and couldn't believe that I could do it. But after a week or two it settled down, and I look back on those diary entries and wonder why I was soooo hungry. I think your body will adapt, and the best thing about all those diary entries is that you can see where the…
