  • Try this website: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2007/12/alphabetical-listing-of-recipes.html I've made a few things on here, and really like the roast pork and peanut butter pork recipes.
  • Love this one.. Baked honey lentils This is a delicious, different way to enjoy lentils, and tastes great on its own or served over rice, quinoa or couscous. The aromatic mix of flavours makes it a satisfying meal that the whole family will love- and with only 194 calories per serve, it fits in perfectly with your diet…
  • Not usually-- try Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, or just your grocery store. Sometimes they are called pepitas.
  • Some of these recipes are specific to pork tenderloin, and some are not. I have made the Asian Peanut Butter Pork recipe with a tenderloin, and it was great. The slow-roasted pork is also very good, but is made with pork shoulder. It might work with a tenderloin, too, though.…
  • Cardini's fat free ceasar is pretty convincing...
  • Hi-- I definitely consider myself a real foodie in that I cook for myself and my husband a lot and am trying hard to discover new foods and ways of preparing them that are healthy. Yesterday, I went out on a limb and bought some chayote squash, which I've loved in restaurants and want to learn how to prepare myself. I was…
  • I also had a hard time cutting these, and then I read somewhere that you can soften them up a bit in the microwave first. Be SURE to poke a lot of holes in the squash first (or I just slice off the top) and then soften it for 2-3 minutes...not too much or it will be too hot to cut. This worked well for me and made cutting…
  • If you don't work out the 3 days that you have long work shifts, do you go to the gym on all the other days of the week and really put in a good effort? I think that would be a good deal to make with yourself. On the other hand, if you constantly feel guilty about it, you could try something a bit relaxing, like yoga or…
  • I really like popcorn for a snack, too, but recently I read that the microwave stuff contains carcinogenic chemicals, so I bought a microwave air-popper container. It works pretty well, and then I use light spray butter (in moderation!) and some popcorn flavorings that I found at the store-- I think they have white…

  • I am 5'7'' and weigh right around 150...I think I look better at 145 and can certainly go as low as 140 without looking at all unhealthy. Every body is different, but I wouldn't worry too much about what other people think-- make sure that you feel healthy and not starved at whatever weight you wind up being.
  • How about watermelon or cucumber? They're mostly water, so they should fill you up without being very caloric.
  • I really like pilates, and mat pilates classes are very adaptable to injury and/or your personal level of fitness and strength. It's also a nice balance of challenging moves interspersed with restful stretches and breathing. If you like yoga, it might be worth a try.
  • I love love love my water bottle. I used to use a $5 rubberized plastic one that leaked and made my water taste like plastic, but recently upgrated to the Thermos Nissan Intak Hydration in a cute purple color, and it's amazing how much more water I drink throughout the day (I take it to work and then to the gym) and how…
  • Corn on the cob is great grilled! Also, pineapple with teriyaki is fabulous.
  • Try really dark chocolate-- the chocolate flavor is really rich and concentrated and it's not super sweet so it doesn't make you crave more sweets after you eat it. I also like chocolate bars with a little bit of savor flavor-- Lindt makes a great bar that has a touch of sea salt, and they also have a chili flavor. I can…
  • I love the recipes on this website: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/02/foil-packet-tilapia-crockpot-recipe.html They are sorted by main ingredient (clickable list on the left sidebar) so you can find a bunch of ideas for whatever you have in the fridge. My favorites from here so far are the peanut butter pork…
  • If you are looking for less fatty cuts, pork tenderloin is very lean and it's pretty tasty, too. There are lots of great recipes out there for it that use relatively healthy marinades, so that would be an option that is healtheir than pork chops and gravy, for example.
  • Cook them in a little white wine with garlic, onions, crabmeat, chopped pickled jalapenos, and chopped mango. Sprinkle with lime juice and tabasco if you like spice. Top with chopped cilantro. Roll up in a taco and top with your fave toppings. You can also use leftovers as a salad topper.
  • I tried this, but you do have to watch them because they burn really quickly! Go easy on the olive oil, too-- if you get too much, they don't crisp very well.
  • You can buy a gel seat cover at Kmart or Target for around $15 that will help if it keeps being a problem.
  • Congrats! That's amazing.

  • I hate bannanas! Oddly, I used to hate PB and cottage cheese, too. But lately I've been eating them again. For me, nonfat cottage cheese is gross, but the 2% fat in the lowfat makes all the difference in making it edible. For peanut butter, I had to start getting the organic freshly ground kind instead of regular old jif…
  • Do you have friends who might want to join you in working on a healthier lifestyle? Your BF is not your only option in terms of support or hiking buddies. Of course, you'll find lots of support here on MFP, too. Good luck!
  • Grilled corn is one of my favorite non-sinful BBQ foods.
  • Everyone has different side effects, so listen to your body as well as what nurses/doctors tell you is 'typical'. I had a really hard time finding something I liked. Tried Ortho-Tri and didn't like the cycling hormones. Liked Loestrin, but started spotting after about a year and a half. Had a horrible, horrible, horrible…
  • I also have a huge sweet tooth! My workplace is filled with sinful munchies pretty much all of the time, so I bring something really good from home so I can avoid the sweets that aren't worth the calories. I eat two squares a day of a very dark chocolate...I especially like the Lindt and Sprungli touch of sea salt-- it's…
  • Good for you! My office is also full of sugary treats all the time, so I know how hard it can be to resist. We can do it!
  • I had my resting metabolic rate tested, and it came out much lower than her recommendation...if I multiplied my bodyweight by 12 calories per pound, I'd be 300 calories over what the text said I burn per day. Of course, the test measures your sedentary calorie burn, and even if I don't go to the gym, I do walk around a bit…
  • When you first start out, it's really important to get your form right so you don't hurt yourself...so take your time and check in the mirror as you lift. If you can, I'd really recommend going to a class or doing a trial session with a trainer who can correct your form if necessary. Also, remember to resist both ways-- as…
  • Cameras are not always kind. Lighting can also be really unflattering! Don't let this keep you from enjoying your success at losing weight so far. Remember how far you've come already, and then use that success to build on. Now that you're almost there, you can work on fine-tuning with weights and toning if that will make…
