  • Thanks for this post. I’m 50 and in menopause. Can’t believe what terrible things have happened to my body in the last six months. Really need to figure this new normal out before it consumes me. I’ve read a lot in the last few days, and I’ve seen “increase veggies” over and over again.
  • Thanks everyone! These are some great suggestions. Going to take me a bit to read through the links.
  • Thanks everyone. I’m going to give it a couple more weeks. The exercise portion is new. I lost 30 lbs using only diet - so I’m comfortable with my weighing, measuring and tracking of food. The thing that’s different this time is the exercise. A few times before I’ve stalled when I started exercise, and I quit the exercise…
  • The scale sticks between 171.8 - 172.6 up and down daily.
  • Yes. I am weighing and measuring every single bite - using a food scale and using measuring cups and spoons for liquids. Absolutely no “cheating” - and I log every single bite. I’m photographing my food - and 90% of my Meals I prepare at home so I know exactly what’s in them. I am not good about water intake.
  • I just posted a very similar situation - four weeks for me. Be sure to read any comments that I get. Maybe that will help us both.
  • Grilled chicken sandwich at Wendy’s with no sauce is my go to for fast food. Or grilled nuggets at cfa with buffalo sauce, fruit cup and unsweet tea.
  • Thank you for your reply - so if I get an adjustment, I’ll just see that I have more calories for the day?
  • I’d like to join this one. I’m not a runner (yet) and just need to get moving. I have no idea what kind of distance I should list since this is new for me - so I’ll measure it this month so that I’m better prepared for next month. This month, I’ll set a goal of 2.5 hours a week - will see what that gets me!
  • Hi. I’m Staci - I am 47, and not a runner, but I dream of being one. I’ve tried many times and just can’t seem to get very far. Trying again with smaller, hopefully more achievable goals this time. I just want to try to have fun this time - no time or distance goals at this time. Love reading running posts from all you…
  • Sounds like the right group of ladies for me, too! 44, 5'6" - started at 195 and at 171 now. Want to land about 140. In the middle of a Whole30 now, and will focus on eating whole foods, running (well, really walking with a few running spurts) and would like to start doing some lifting. Three boys under 9, full time job -…
  • took an extended vacation and didnt have my DVD player - so just started back again. Level one, day one - check! Fun to read and see how everyone is doing! Love that some are seeing results from all that hard work! Have been running and will do that in addition to this (but will run before - cause after 30 day, Im…
  • Way to go! I have my last C25K run tomorrow - can't believe it! I use the Nike app. to help track mine.

  • Level one, day three done. That first cardio circuit kicks me. I still can't make it through all the jumping jacks and jump rope. Have to stop to breathe. Goes fast once that part is over! Didn't have good endurance at all today. Ran this morning, maybe that was why.
  • I was scheduled for surgery for the same reason. Had maxed out on my cortisone injections (in the bottom of the heel holy crap). These are the must dos if it has gotten to that point: 1. Avoid surgery at all costs 2. Never ever. Ever go barefoot. Ever. I didn't even in the shower. 3. Pay the money for the custom inserts…
  • Im 44 and started 4 weeks ago. It surely isn't as easy as it would have been 20 years ago, or even 10 - but it isn't supposed to be easy! Go for it. Take it slow and listen to your body. Treadmills are easier on the joints than concrete. Rest every other day, or swim, or do something different. And invest in good shoes and…
  • Day 2 - check! Thought my endurance was better today than the first day. Maybe because I knew it would end! Sore for sure - but felt good to push through it. Will hurt tomorrow - I went from big jars of applesauce to 3 lb weights. Def difference!
  • That's a great idea. I wont be doing that, because Im in 2 other groups that have weekly weigh-ins, but I do plan to document carefully with measurements so that I can credit it to the shred!
  • This is great! I started yesterday. Question: three levels, 10 days per level? Is that what everyone hopes to follow? Or do you only progress a day of you can do the entire workout?
  • I started yesterday and was wondering the same thing about rest days. My dog chewed up one of my hand weights (grrrr) so I used large jars of applesauce yesterday! Wasn't enough. Planning to buy some 5's today.
  • really helpful Thank you. And yes, Ive been becoming concerned with the 1200 calories. Im satisfied on 1200 calories, but I am sure I'll hit a plateau. I think I'll up my calories with the added protein and see how that goes. I think Im losing a little too quickly.
  • This looks good. Love in innovation without equipment. Thank you. What does "sufficient protein" look like? I've heard 1 gram per pound of body weight. Is that sufficient for doing c25k every other day, and something like this on the off days? Do I need to eat that much protein on my run only days, or do you suggest this…
  • Sounds like you're on the right path!
  • Thank you!
  • Thank you! This looks like the perfect place to start! Looks plenty challenging but achievable!
  • I have 5 lb Dumbbells. I also have the Firm DVD set that came with a 5 or 10 lb bar. That may be outdated, but maybe it's something useful? I'm willing to invest some money and I have an empty exercise room - I have three boys that I'm sure will want to lift weights someday.
  • You and I are in about the same boat. You've lost a couple more than I have. Are you exercising as well - or strictly watching intake?
  • I'm doing it now. On w4d3. I did it once before. Took about six weeks for me to really notice some changes.

  • I understand. I have three boys, ages 6,4 and 3 - which means that not too long ago I had three boys ages 3 months, 19 months and 3 1/2 years. You're right - it's exhausting and I felt defeated a lot of the time. Honestly, when I was in your shoes, it was just about survival. Make it through the day. Get to bedtime with…
  • Very helpful already. Thank you.
